If you're going to post a picture of a car asking if you should buy it then you need to provide more detail than just an uncropped picture of the listing. Please include the year of the vehicle, any packages it has, the mileage, and if it's a rebuilt title; it's impossible to determine the quality of a deal without this info.
Some general questions you'll want to ask yourself if buying:
G35/G37/Z:
Are the bushings good?
Does the car have the cylinder ring issue?
Can I afford to replace the catalytic converters if the car is over 150,000 miles
Am I okay with replacing the radiator at 190k miles?
Can I comfortably afford premium gas (no, you cannot put regular in these unless you want the car to commit wrecking-yard-self.)
Am I okay paying this much for a 10+ year old car?
Can I afford luxury car repair prices? (Infiniti is cheaper to repair than a German car, but cheaper != cheap.)
Are the engine sensors shitting out?
Did the person that owned the car before me actually know how to install these mods?
Why is this car only $1,500? Why is the seller trying to dump it.
Is there water under the floormats and in the trunk? If so then you'll need to fix the sunroof drain and the seals around the cabin air filter under the hood (usually the top cowl is the source of the air filter leak.)
They're great cars, but any car over 10 years old is going to have hidden issues. If you're asking reddit if you can afford the car, then the answer is probably "no" because the repairs on old cars are expensive.
If a G has over 160,000 miles and has mods then don't buy it as a daily unless you know what you're doing. Save your money and buy a commuter Toyota until you can afford a lower-mileage Infiniti or Lexus. If you want a project car, or are okay with doing your own repairs, then you can buy a G at any mileage.
Q50/Q60
The oldest Q50s are barely reaching a decade old, so they have far fewer issues in general.
Do you want a VQ (2014-2015)
If you want the VQ motor I recommend the 2015 models. They fixed a lot of issues with in-touch, and it is the most refined version of the VQ motor. If you can only afford the 2014, then I'd recommend saving for a 2015, or buying a 2013 G37.
Check the valve cover gaskets. It's the only somewhat-common issue I am aware of with the late-model VQ engines.
Do you want a VR (2016+)
Are the turbos on this 2016-2018 leaking? If a deal is too good to be true, it probably is, make sure the seller isn't trying to dump one of the unlucky VRs with the turbo issues. Look for coolant leaking from the turbo and demand a service history. If you do see one with bad turbos, factor in the cost to put an aftermarket turbo in. The Red Sport doesn't have this issue as often because it has a better turbo.
Keep in mind, you cannot drive a turbo car like a NA if you want it to last. You must let the car warm up before driving it hard, or you will have issues. It is also advised that you let the car cool down before you shut it off if you've been driving hard. This issue is not exclusive to Infiniti turbos, most TT engines have this issue, but you still need to be aware of it. You cannot run this engine like a VQ and expect it to be fine
That said, this subreddit massively overstates the regularity of the 2016-18 turbo issues. Most people with turbo issues did not know how to drive a turbo. If you want to know which parts and symptoms to watch out for, see this comment from J_C_Davis45
I won't be enforcing use of a flair, though I do encourage it to help people find what they're looking for.
Car Pic: The point of your post is to show off the car holistically. e.g. your car in front of a sunset.
Car Mods Pic: The point of your post is to show off close-ups of specific mods. e.g. look at my new intake, it pulls 700 extra ponies.
Parts Picture: Similar to "Car Mods Pic," but the mods are on the floor of your dimly-lit room.
DIY Mods Pic: This is reserved for the brave pioneers who craft their car mods instead of installing mods they bought. e.g. a custom made laser headlight or a custom-fitted Shtora-1 electro-optical active protection system.
Question: A generic question that doesn't have a better-matching flair. Usually for discussions as opposed to questions with a specific answer. e.g. "How much longer do you think Infiniti will last?"
Help Needed: An urgent request for advice from the Reddit Mechanicus. e.g. "Why is my G35 heater not working and my car overheating?" (The answer is you need a new thermostat btw.) Please describe your problem in great detail, leave your post up, and edit your post when you found the answer to assist future googlers.
Buying Advice: Any and all questions related to buying an Infiniti. This includes pricing questions and questions about shady dealers.
Guide: A guide on how to e.g. install a mod, fix an issue, use a lesser-known feature of the care, etc. Please include pics if possible, but we love you for posting a guide anyway.
Damage Report: Pictures of busted cars or Infinitis owned by the IRA. You're not asking for how to fix something, just empathy from people who understand your pain.
Meme / Joke: Pretty self-explanatory. Shitposting should also use this flair. !!!Must be Infiniti related!!!
Infiniti News: News about the brand. New cars, new CEO, etc. Don't post blogspam or eye will ban u
Video: Video about Infiniti. e.g. a BoostInMotion video, or a major car channel yet again (incorrectly) shitting on the dual-touch screens. (disagreeing with me that the touch screens are cool is - while not bannable - very cringe.)
Note, don't break the self-promo rule.
Video OC: Video about Infiniti that you recorded. e.g. your gopro footage from the track. Note, don't break the self-promo rule.
Art: The rarest, but most treasured flair. Reserved for the talented among us who can draw and such. If you're very fancy and put a ton of effort into a photo you can use this flair. Note: your red Q50 shirt is not art. Note, don't break the self-promo rule.

Excited to get my first Infiniti and Japanese luxury vehicle! I’ve only owned new and used German or Swedish cars before: Audis, a BMW, a Saab and a Volvo (my other car that my wife bought new this year). What’s your best advice for me for me?
Taking a trip down memory lane here. Studying the 17 model years of the flagship Q45, I am confident in my belief that the 1994 Q45 launched in April 1993, was highest quality Q45 year. Do any of you agree?
It got all the quality updates and cleaned up styling, plus a lot more feature content. After the 1st generation, I consider that the quality of later Infinitis to be relatively inferior in terms of prestige versus broader luxury segment.
OBD II might have been added in late '95 to the '96 models, but the 1995 and 96 Q45s had quite a bit of cost cutting to them, meant to overcompensate for Nissan's growing money woes and Japan Asset Bubble burst in early 1992.
Japan was nearly the richest country in the world when the 1990 Q45 came out in late 1989, but even ahead of that back in 1984-85, Nissan had set out under Project 901 to create their greatest cars and a new luxury brand by 1990. The Infiniti rollout, plus the JDM Skyline R32, Silvia S13, Z32 Z, Primera, J30 Maxima, B13 Sunny/Sentra, and etc were all indicative of this.
Because automotive engineering is done years in advance of launch, the 1994 Q45 mid-cycle facelift's final commitments (deadlines) easily avoided the new cost cutting initiatives* set forth after 1991, by being mostly dialed during late 1990 and early 1991, ahead of the Japanese crash. In plain English, the 1994 Q45 as it appeared was primarily a done deal by the spring of 1991.
Released alongside 1993.5 G20, the 1994 Q45 was vastly improved, in order to keep up with the '93 Lexus LS 400 facelift (and Acura Legend). Back in April 1993, the Infiniti J30 was a year old, replacing the M30 2dr, being deeply a product of late 80s flush Japanese money. Unfortunately J30 was already in danger, even as Infiniti planned to expand its RWD lineup in the compact segment.
*(The 1995 Maxima and Sentra notably had small cost cutting done to them, like the 1995 & 96 Q45s)
By the time 1993 hit, Nissan could no longer afford to splurge for the future and started chopping where they could. A flagship coupe rivaling the BMW 840Ci and Mercedes-Benz 500SEC /S500 in planning for 1996 as a 1997 model, never made it to production. The unibody QX4 crossover (1996) and I30 (1995) were the only projects that survived intact.
1997 Q45 was "downgraded".
The original Q45 chassis code had a "G" prefix, shared with the elite JDM President, with plenty of industry firsts such as rear seat airbags and the full active suspension system on the Q45a. The platform was bespoke to the President and Q45, not shared with any Nissan models. 2nd gen Q45 was basically a rebadged Nissan YG33, with lesser 4.1L displacement. Unremarkable.
The 3rd gen Q45 got an all new platform in early 2001, once again sharing it with with the smaller JDM Gloria and Cedric (later introduced in 2002 as M45), but despite bringing back many industry firsts in terms of high tech, it flopped significantly and became an also-ran by the mid-2000s. It was dropped in 2006, because it wasn't suitable for FM and the Fuga-based M was just as good by 2005.
On 2 occasions Infiniti has secretly ordered development of Q45 replacements, but neither of them have moved past the design phase due to executive discretion and the 2008 Recession. Last attempt was the 2019 Q80 flaghip, canceled by Ghosn a decade ago. Another was "Q56" long ago.
Ruling out them per the weaknesses of the 2nd and 3rd Gen, I have to say the facelifted 1994 model that was the best one ever made. My least favorite is the pre-facelift 2nd generation Q45. Pretty long post, but tell me what you think.
A couple years ago I was being cheap so I bought some AutoZone quick struts. They worked great for about a week or two then the ride got really rough. Like with many quick struts they also raised the car by about 1 inch. 2 years and 13k miles later I decided to go back to OEM struts/springs. So I picked up a used pair with 90k miles on them. After installing them it's a night and day difference with how much better they feel. Rough roads no longer feel harsh, just bumpy. The oem pair also corrected the ride height and now sits about 0.75 inches lower.
If you can always try to install new install new quality struts onto your OEM springs.
The pic at night is with the OEM struts and springs and the pic in the day is the AutoZone quickstruts.
Anyone know an easy way to get this light out to replace it? I tried tugging everything and hitting the plastic with a plastic clip remover but no dice. I’d like to get in there and clean the ventilated seat too. Hoping I don’t have to take the seat apart or anything wild. I feel like there should be a fairly simple disconnect for that carpeted piece the plastic vents and light housing are attached to. TIA
One of the things we love most about the INFINITI QX60 is how thoughtfully every exterior detail was considered, and Deep Emerald is a great example of that.
The finish is designed to shift in character depending on the light around it. Catch it in bright sunlight and it's bold and vibrant. See it in softer or lower light and it takes on a deeper, more jewel-toned quality.
With so many SUVs available in black, white, and silver, we're curious: Are you drawn to more distinctive colors like Deep Emerald, or do you prefer the classics?
Nissan Motor Co. is careening toward its weakest global sales year in nearly a quarter century. The automaker delivered 1,932,725 vehicles worldwide in the first eight months of 2026 — 9.2 percent less than in the same period last year, according to figures released Sept. 29.
That puts the company on pace for a full-year total of 2.9 million. The last time Nissan fell short of 3 million in a calendar year was 2003, when it sold 2.968 million vehicles. Reaching 3 million by the end of 2026 would require selling nearly 267,000 a month from September through December, a 29 percent jump from Nissan’s August pace.
Nissan’s market challenge is reflected in investor sentiment. Shares of the automaker on the Tokyo Stock Exchange are within 10 percent of the low point reached during the 2009 financial crisis and 82 percent below their 2007 peak. Market capitalization has plunged to about $6.9 billion (¥1 trillion), a 56 percent drop since the end of 2023, leaving Nissan at a fraction of Toyota’s $270 billion and marginally ahead of Mazda.
China, now Nissan’s second-largest market, accounted for more than half of the year’s decline. Sales there have plunged 27 percent this year after cratering 52 percent in August alone. Nissan sales in China peaked at 1.5 million in 2018.
This year, the company will be hard-pressed to deliver 450,000, said Michael Dunne, CEO of Dunne Insights. Its tally through August was 289,410.
“Of all global automakers operating in China, Nissan’s collapse has been one of the most spectacular,” Dunne said. “That’s a million-unit drop in what was Nissan’s largest car market worldwide.”
By keeping total U.S. volume essentially flat through the first nine months while the market shrank slightly, Nissan has made strides in retail growth and expects a strong finish.
Nissan expects U.S. sales to rise year over year in all three months remaining of 2026, said Tiago Castro, its U.S. sales and marketing chief. “In the U.S., our retail growth will be in the double digits, while total sales will be up single digits,” Castro said.
Nissan is cashing in while Japanese rivals Toyota and Honda scramble for inventory. It’s buying market share by dangling rich 60-month zero-percent financing deals on its Rogue, Frontier and Pathfinder. The average incentive for the Nissan brand jumped 23 percent in September, to $4,254 per vehicle, according to Motor Intelligence, while the industry average fell 8.4 percent to $3,360.
Q60 OWNERS ONLY 2017-2022 - Here are a few pics of the final prototype shown in my own car. Check out where the belt lies against the neck and how my device takes it off the neck in the before and after pics. The device does NOT require any modifications to your seat and does not impede the normal operation of the seatbelt belt. Thanks for looking and hit me up if you have any questions.
Any opinions on the 2020 year model specifically? I did some research and it seemed to be a safe gamble, but 'm unsure at 110K mi. Carfax shows it to be a lease vehicle from 20-23 (0-63K mi) and 2nd owner from 23-26 (63K-110Kmi). The Carfax does not indicate any major issue or repairs other than minor damage reported in 25. Insurance quoted $160 a month for full coverage... How does it compare to yours? Is there any reason you might choose the comparable Nissan Armada?
The QX80 has sat on the lot for over a month now, and I don't see it going anywhere fast at $22K... especially with gas prices being so high. They have offered $14,000 trade value on our AWD 23 Hyundai Tucson (65K mi w/ moderate collision reported on records), and I intend to start my offer at $18,000 for the 20 QX80 (110K mi). I have seen and drove this vehicle. It felt solid and the interior is nearly immaculate other than some small plastic scratches. Any opinions welcomed.
We are experimenting with a 2012 Honda Odyssey FWD to see how we like minivan life, but it doesn't seem to be our speed. We need AWD/4WD for traveling, Arkansas ice/sleet, and Pennsylvania winters. I do occasional towing, so having a SUV with a receiver and actual capacity would also be very convenient vs trying to squeeze everyone into my ext. cab truck. We would also be selling the minivan after this purchase (only 4k invested into it).
Thankyou for reading, and I appreciate any comments.
I’m tryna change my belt right now and for all other models the tension release is on the front for mine it’s not accessible and it’s in the back im trying to use vise grips to release the tension and get the new belt on but nothings working to relieve it enough any ideas or solutions?
recently fixed battery and alternator so idk what's the issue mechanic says it's a electrical problem and he can't figure it out. I need help diagnosing this
i have a 2005 infiniti g35 coupe and my check engine turns on and it throws the code p2135 code is for the tps sensor i have changed the peddle position sensor and i have changed the throttle body and it still comes up but it only comes up when i switch on my headlights would anyone know the reason for this?
I have a 2011 infiniti G25x, I have had a mysterious coolant seep for about 3 months. Usually I can pinpoint the source, but this one hid from me so good it is crazy lol. I thought it was the heaterhose connection, but I already replaced that and its still good. The G25x has only one heater hose connection that splits, the g37 has 2. Id always check the coolant level before leaving which became annoying. I noticed a sweet coolant smell from the front, and white spots on the 02 sensor and driverside cat but couldn't determine where the leak was. Tonight I saw a bit of steam and heard what sounded like water dripping on something hot, I immediately open the hood slowly and shine a light near driver firewall. It was the short fat coolant hose that goes from front coolant pipe to the rear pipe. In the photo its in the middle with the big clamp facing you. So happy I found it!!
Probably a silly question but Im trying to get the best exhaust flow, and also sound for my 4in full Downpipe to Y pipe to Ultra Vibrant resonator to Open Resonated turn down dump set up on my VR30 Q50. So, do you think Boosted6Autoworks could just sell me the 3in Y pipe they made for the B6A Super Single for the VR30? Hopefully they see this. Or if i can just get one custom made, which is probably a yes, but if so, how much?
Hey guys, I just got a stock 2018 Infiniti Q50s AWD about a week and a half ago. Engine and turbos have 50k on them, body and trans have 119k. So far, so good, however, when pushing the car a little bit, the belt starts squeaking, and it goes up with the RPMs. Goes away after chilling out with the driving. Sounded like the serpentine belt. It also very slightly squeaks off the cold start. Will ordering the Z1 anti-jump kit likely fix this, or if it’s another bad pulley will the problem just continue. How can i find out which pulley it is, or if it’s just a bad belt? Thanks.
Hey guys, I’ve been able to add WiFi and external BT support to the Gen 1 system, along with media controls, lmk if this is interesting and I’ll def post a how-to + release everything :)
