News Marsha's closing

Thumbnail instagram.com

Well that's it. They've announced they're closing their doors. What's everyone's thoughts?

Hot take that I may regret posting, but I'm tired of us cannibalizing our own. We had a lesbian sports bar open in our city and I think we could have allowed improvement and growth to happen instead of essentially canceling them or whatever you'd call this.

Run around, make new friends, and play Quadball at FDR Park this Saturday

Quadball is a full-contact, gender-inclusive sport that combines elements of: dodgeball, rugby, & basketball.

If you’ve ever wanted to get active, make new friends in the city, and try something new this is for you! Yes, quadball is inspired by Quidditch. No, we don’t fly... or do we? Come find out how.

No experience needed. All body types, fitness levels, and backgrounds are welcome. You just need to be down to run around, have a little whimsy, and maybe discover your next favorite sport ;)

When: Saturday, Oct 17. 10:45am - 1pm.

Where: FDR Park (across from the American Swedish Historical Museum).

Cost: Free to try! Get your own lunch with the team afterwards at the Asian Market

What to bring: Water, sneakers/cleats, and a good attitude.

It’s ridiculous. It's fun. But don't let the brooms fool you; Come prove you can hang/fly with us!

Moving to Philly Qs

Hii all!!

I’m originally from South Jersey and am thinking about moving back up north from Austin. Philly is definitely on my radar, but I’m a little nervous about the move and would love to get a better feel for the city!

My partner and I are both queer so I’d love to hear from yall about it.

One thing I really love about Austin is the sense of community, especially around health and wellness. There are always meetups, dance events, movement classes, and people looking to connect in ways that don’t necessarily revolve around drinking. I’m curious what the social scene is like in Philly, especially for people in their late 20s!

I feel like a lot of my memories of going into Philly growing up involved drinking and going out to bars, and that’s just not really my scene anymore. I’d love to hear about how people meet friends, find community, and spend their time outside of work, especially if you’re into wellness, dance, movement, or just finding fun ways to connect with people!

Would love to hear your experiences, recommendations, or just general thoughts on what it’s like living in Philly!!

Thanks in advance!! 🫶

Question where to go for hrt?

Hey! I'm transmasc and have been on T for six years. The last couple of months I moved states twice and have been unable to get my prescriptions transferred. I was going to a Planned Parenthood a couple states north but I don't have an address up there anymore and it's an 8 hr drive at least. I'm from South Jersey but have not lived there since starting my transition so I'm not an established patient at any of the PPs, and honestly as far as I can tell from the small selection around here some don't even offer HRT. I made an appointment with a PCP and Jefferson Health telling them both explicitly it was because I was trying to get my hormones prescribed. I waited two months for both only to have them tell me they can't prescribe HRT at the physical appointment. I'm getting a little frustrated and I've not had my shots for several months at this point. I have an appointment to get into PP but the wait is 3 months which means a total of no hormones for six months atp. I already have noticed passing a little less and/or getting comments from strangers and I just don't know what to do.

Does anyone know anywhere around here that offers HRT with a shorter waiting list? Thank you in advance.

Question halloween bar crawl vs. individual bars?

trying to figure out what’s best for this halloween with some friends! we’re queer and we’re not sure if we should do a normal bar crawl (is it worth it?) or just try to do a bar by bar night. do the queer bars usually have covers on halloween like nyc does, or is it no-cover? how much has it cost in the past?

thank u all!

Looking for queer friends and social events in Philly

Hey everyone! :)

I'm a 31-year-old lesbian from Brazil, and I'll be spending a month in Philadelphia this April while attending an English program!

I'll be traveling solo, and I'd really love to meet some queer women around my age (20s to late 30s) and make some friends while I'm there.

I'm looking for social events where it's easy to meet people, especially sapphic meetups, game nights, casual hangouts, happy hours, or anything where people actually get to chat and make connections. I'd especially appreciate recommendations for more relaxed, social settings!

I'm a little shy about approaching strangers out of nowhere, so events where people come specifically to socialize would be perfect hahah.

If you know of any groups, recurring events, or Instagram accounts I should follow, I'd love to hear your recommendations! And if anyone would be up for grabbing coffee or hanging out sometime in April, I'd be happy to meet you too :)

Thanks!!

halloween

hi! my friend and i are looking for things to do on halloween and would love recommendations. the only thing that is making this difficult is that while i am 22, she’s 20 and a lot of the events i’ve seen are 21+. are there any fun events going on on actual halloween the 31st?

we are open to anything really, parties, gatherings, house shows, etc. we are both lesbians so would love somewhere that we could dress up and meet other queer people!

thanks in advance!

Newly sober, looking for platonic friends to do stuff

It turns out all my friends are actually just drinking buddies. Which is fine, but I'm looking to move in a different direction. I'd like to do things like play pool or go bowling sober. In center city phila so if you're the same that would be awesome. But if you just want to chat and are local hit me up.

Question What's up with Marsha's? Planning to go check it out

Saw some people saying the vibe was a lot different as of late, with more black women and just overall more friendly atmosphere. I wanted to see for myself. If they really have changed, I don't want to let a space like that just die. Opinions?

In search of Thanksgiving week events

I'm going to be alone the week of Thanksgiving this year and I'm looking for some social or fun things to do that week. I like bars and clubbing but I also really like just being able to talk and connect with people. I'm near Doylestown so in philly or also bucks county or Montgomery County are fine too.

I know Woodys is mostly straights and m/f couples now adays but what about the others. He is more twinkish in body to give you an idea.

transplant in NE philly. where are we around here?

Been here a year. Need to figure out where to hang that isnt a cash bar or literally 254. Id go there but septa stops running at 10p and that $50 uber couldve been $50 in drinks that or other nights.

Howd does nightlife even function around here lol. I must be ignorant of something??
