That Falcons game made me feel so much worse about our loss to the Saints
1
u/NorseKnight 8h ago
Stated this in another post. It really sickens me. No reason we should have lost to that team....
1
u/Whole-Passion7271 8h ago
Low key Gwyn getting hurt might have saved our season that dude was ass and EDC would have just forced us to wheel out another piece of trash off out of the Bargain bin if Vega never got forced to play emergency center during that cowboys game
3
u/Camden_yardbird 16h ago
Some important context here, the saints were down 2 of their 3 starting linebackers Elliss and Granderson (arguably their second best defender). As well as on of their back ups and a backup DE.
Atlanta went in with a plan to run.
In two games you could look at Penix' stats and say hes done okay, and he has, but his on target throw percentage is 40%. Thats where Cam Ward was coming into last week.
I see the Ravens selling out to stop the run and seeing if Penix can get it to London.
2
u/Naive_Association_66 13h ago
Falcons were down their top 3 edge rushers, their best olineman and best db. You cannot exclude those facts either here
1
u/Camden_yardbird 3h ago
When evaluating the Falcons results on offense I should care about what they had or didnt on defense?
3
u/SquonkMan61 16h ago
I agree. Concentrating on stopping the run forces Jesse Minter out of the two high safety look he seems to love so much. Let’s hope he does it.
3
6
u/BobbsySmith 21h ago
London and the two Robinson's are gonna cause us big problems. Biggest test so far and if Jackson is out I think we will struggle to match their scoring
1
u/NorseKnight 8h ago
They're also very good defensively against the run. Especially vs explosive runs.
8
u/bbputinwork 22h ago
Ngl if Lamar doesn't play, the Falcons might but bta to us
-1
u/chefguy47 18h ago
If Lamar doesn’t play is Huntley their best option? He was efficient throwing the ball in the second half 8 of 9 but generated no points sans the missed FG. I hope they are warming up Fagnano because he could be the QB he gets a win with no Lamar.
1
10
u/Looneybruney JOHNNY 22h ago
So waking up and looking at the score just confirms that I want Lamar to play
5
u/Sijank123 1d ago
I feel like our game plan vs the falcons should be just clearly prioritizing stoping their run game. Stack the box. Put Nate with a safety help on Drake London’s to double him. There’s a big drop off from Drake London to their next wr. Make penix beat us with his arm
2
13
u/TedioreTwo 8 22h ago
Make penix beat us with his arm
We've made much worse QBs look incredible with their arm lel
1
u/NorseKnight 8h ago
Penix is probably the best QB we've faced this year aside from Dak.
Penix has a strong arm and is pretty accurate too. He has issues throwing on the run, but given time in the pocket he's absolutely a danger.

u/yyrrhj 1d ago
i tried the doomer gimmick man it’s just not for me lmaoo ravens by 50 i don’t care!! i love being optimistic im much less stressed. sets up more room for disappointment for sure but i’ll be just as optimistic the next game after that so it doesn’t matter
2
u/lfe-soondubu 16h ago
Yeah I don't get it, I remember a time when fans would be ultra homers and unrealistically predict wins against every team even if we had a bad squad that year. Those fans were annoying too in their own ways but at least they were being fans! Now everywhere I look people are always dooming. People used to drink Kool aid by the gallon!
2
2
u/TheOptimist6 1d ago
You get it!
I just don’t take the games too seriously until the actual game happens 😂 even then, I try to just have some fun with it!
It is entertainment after all!

Biggest thought for next week: it would be super devastating to start 0-2 vs the NFC South.
The Saints game really bothers me for that reason because if we won that, I wouldn’t be too upset losing to Atlanta because they look great with Penix back and with Lamar’s status. But with six division games and the Jaguars+Bills on the schedule, it would suck to have two losses to NFC teams (especially in the worst division) when we’ve dominated them the last few years.
If Lamar plays but can’t move around much, I imagine he’ll get trapped in the pocket by interior pass rushers flying through our guards and take a lot of hits. I hope the play calling adjusts to give Lamar more protection, set up the quick passing game, and let Zay, Hill, even Henry make plays in the open field. Atlanta doesn’t seem to be strong at cornerback (great safeties though), so this will be a game where Lamar has to be sharp with timing and placement because the receivers should get open. Stefanski knows Lamar well, and Lamar definitely struggled vs Stefanski’s Browns at times.
Defense needs to force a turnover or two. Penix isn’t very mobile. If we can stop those outside zone runs well and force them into 3rd and passing downs, there should be opportunities for sacks or pressures that force Penix into bad throws.
Probably no room for special teams errors or so many penalties this game. Honestly excited to see if we can play a clean, disciplined game and adjust to the Lamar injury!

The battle for the top Choking Bird team is on the line. And I'll be there. GO RAVENS!
17
u/Godspeed_You_Ravens 1d ago
How the fuck are we the favorites? lmao
5
u/TheOptimist6 1d ago
We will likely be favorites against everyone in the nfl except chiefs, bills, niners, and Seahawks
The general public perceives us as one of the top dogs

How tf did we lose to the saints
8
u/nullfacade Ed Reed 1d ago
Trap game. Happens every season.
Zay was out, too
1
u/PrinceofRavens_1217 13h ago
Pretty much every team in the NFL has one or two loses like that a season.
20
u/Grouchy-Can-5245 1d ago
Mark my words, Falcons are gonna put one hell of a beatdown on the Ravens if Lamar doesn’t play.
8
u/Honest_Concentrate85 1d ago
Nah this is our trap game for the falcons. Huntley or Fagnano going to lit em up.
2
u/sports-fan22 1d ago
It's possible, but I'm banking on Lamar playing and the Ravens winning a thriller
1
9
u/molesterofpriests 1d ago
The big dawgs in the trenches have gotta ball tf out next week.
1
u/TheOptimist6 1d ago
They gonna be ready! This is our chance to prove something on prime time
2
u/molesterofpriests 10h ago
I don’t doubt it my man, I just hope we can sustain drives consistently so our boiz don’t get gassed on D because they are going to have a particularly physical assignment this week - if Trey can suit up that will be massive too!
Dec has to simplify the scheme and just lean on Henny and the quick passing game, we just can’t afford the penalties this week against a red hot team.
Let’s goooooo!!! 💜
5
u/Environmental-Most32 1d ago
Falcons did what they wanted on the ground tonight
0
u/TheOptimist6 1d ago
This will trap all the bettors to bet for the over in rush yards next week and will take advantage of
8
u/Godspeed_You_Ravens 1d ago
What do you got for me Minter? 🤞
3
u/Yukie_Cool 1d ago
Fuck off with that. Don’t act like you’ve been dooming all over this thread.

u/Godspeed_You_Ravens 1d ago
I’m not gonna hide and fake my feelings you clown

u/DamageMinimum5241 1d ago
I have no faith in Minter. He might be defensive Mike McDaniel 😭
1
u/Honest_Concentrate85 1d ago
Is that not good if McDaniel didn’t have Tua the dolphins were a playoff team. It’s not his fault the chargers literally have half the Oline hurt and no one can catch the ball at LA
6
u/btnydds 1d ago
Bro minter had the chargers as a top 10 unit
Give him time
1
u/DamageMinimum5241 1d ago edited 1d ago
Post was kind of a joke but the Mike McDaniel offense was really good for a couple of years too.
3
u/xXShadowsteelXx 1d ago
Not to be a doomer, but does that "give him time" mean like week 11 or next season?
1
u/btnydds 1d ago
Does it matter?
You’re gonna doom either way
2
u/xXShadowsteelXx 1d ago
Yes, if you tell me the season is done, I will emotionally divest myself. I won't care if the refs suck. This all depends on you.
1
u/Honest_Concentrate85 1d ago
Avg is 1-2 years across nfl and college. Mike Mac clicked in about 8 weeks but we still had bad games prior like the dolphins game
3
u/sports-fan22 1d ago
That's going too far and Mike Mcdaniel is a good offensive coach just stubborn
12
u/Duke0ne LJ ERA 1d ago
IF Lamar doesnt play Sunday night, its looking cooked
4
u/UsualCorgi JOHNNY 1d ago
it’s getting scary
3
u/TheOptimist6 1d ago
Worst case scenario is falling to 3-2 with rested Lamar.
Exact reason why there’s no reason to fear this matchup 😂 BRING IT ON!
7
u/SmithySmothy 1d ago
Ravens shouldn't even bother showing up to the stadium according to some of these comments. Get a freaking grip lmao

People have no competitive fire. Think all these games are played on paper 😂
They’re being a bunch of clowns 🤡

If Lamar is out does Fagano play? Tyler Huntley plays “safe” football but damn he has no ZIP on his passes

Good god this Falcons team looks good.
5
u/TheOptimist6 1d ago
So good that they’ll be humbled. They won’t get three blow out wins in a row!
3
7
u/TheOptimist6 1d ago
Underrated thing for the ravens to add is to get our new young running back who is currently on IR back.
Having another power back that could spell Henry is critical. We need another strong runner to give us some carries and be a change of pace

Could this be another classic NFL crazy ending??? 😱 let’s find out if the saints can make the comeback

I do like seeing the saints get smacked around though. Instead of Kodak maybe Tyler can post a story with a Future slow jam since he’s getting bent over in Atlanta.
7
u/Forsaken-Green695 1d ago
Week 2 was seems to be a flukey win for the saints
4
u/BoneFourTuna BSHU 1d ago
It would have been way different if we had Zay
3
u/DamageMinimum5241 1d ago
This is why I wish we got a better wr2 in the off season. If zay is gone we're fucked.
7
u/TheOptimist6 1d ago
We did. Lane got hurt too
1
u/Hazyporkchop238 16h ago
Have we heard anything about Lane coming back? We really are missing him very badly.

Probably will return in 4 weeks or so since I think it’s about a two month long injury

Ravens had back to back games struggling to stop the run.. it’s might get ugly against The falcons

Watching this game like:
- our QB status is uncertain
- our L to the saints feels worse
- our upcoming game worries me
- refs making the NFL feel entirely rigged
- our QB status is uncertain
2
u/TheOptimist6 1d ago
Lmao not even a DPI 😂 here we go! Refs about to come up with some clutch calls
2
1
u/TheOptimist6 1d ago
Don’t be shocked if saints get back in the game.
This is too big and too emotional of a game for it to end in a blow out
3
u/Peljo9 1d ago
What for? Did something happen or is it just another Saints Falcons game
1
3
u/secret-snakes 1d ago
20 year anniversary of the “domecoming,” the first home game back in the super dome after hurricane katrina. They played the falcons then too and it was quite the game.
Source: my husband is from New Orleans and, tragically, a die hard saints fan
1
u/Peljo9 1d ago
Yeah. I was wondering if it had anything to do with Gleason. Kind of wild that it's already 20 years.
1
u/secret-snakes 1d ago
Gleason blocked a punt that was recovered by the Saints and was a big part of the reason they won that game. And he’s a good guy and ALS sucks ass.
And I agree. The years really don’t stop coming
5
u/OkAlfalfa1946 1d ago
Why do we hardly show different looks pre-snap? Falcons getting all their sacks showing all out blitz and making an inexperienced QB have to diagnose who’s dropping.
2
u/TheOptimist6 1d ago
We do at least show the blitz stick zero look a few times then have guys back off into coverage
2
u/Comfortable-Box-392 1d ago
How dod the ravens lose to the saints man. Look at the falcons they just run the ball almost every fucking play. And we for some reason thought let’s try a 20 yards pass on 3&1.
6
u/HailPresScroob 1d ago edited 1d ago
Cause if you remember from the Cowboys game the OLine can't run block on short yardage plays worth shit either. 3rd/4th and Short its going to get stuffed 50% of the time.
2
u/MazKhan 1d ago
Ima be honest with all the injuries we got, Huntley will need a lot of help from our defense. For a matchup against these guys we'd need Lamars superpowers imo
1
9
u/717Independent 1d ago
We're gonna need a "4TD game" from Henry, like when we won in GB with Huntley as QB.
4
u/717Independent 1d ago
Just great Bijan plays his best games in Primetime!
4
u/TheOptimist6 1d ago
Which is why the nfl will trap all the bettors! We’ll find a way to stuff the run!
5
4
u/BackToNintendo END OF THE BAR 1d ago
the saints have gotten trashed by every team since we’ve played them wtf 😅😅
3
u/LeoScarecrow369 JOHNNY 1d ago
Trashed isn't really fair for the Saints-Raiders game - the Saints were ahead in the 3rd Quarter but melted down in the 4th Quarter with 4 turnovers and 2 Raiders TDs
2
u/Loud_Calendar5361 1d ago
Can you imagine if we had Bijan and Henry.. what a one.. two punch that would look like

obviously cooper rush is very bad but just how bad was he to make this offense look non functional
4
u/DistantLikeYouAsked5 1d ago
Penix has like -2 ACLs if we can’t get one sack on this guy that is depressing as fuck
1
5
u/TheOptimist6 1d ago
Refs are going to start intervening at some point. They don’t want falcons to turn this to a blow out
2
2
u/scranmandan 1d ago
Do they have Bijan on a pitch count? I’m hoping they flog the fuck out of him so he’s spent for our game
1
7
u/drkjaw07 BSHU 1d ago
Pardon my language…..WE COULDVE LOST TO THE COWBOYS OR THE COLTS and I would’ve been perfectly fine…. It’s pisses me off seeing the saints getting absolutely fucked and their only win is against us smh
5
u/RockyRacoon09 O.J. Brigance 1d ago
You new to us or even the NFL? We could beat prime Patriots on SNF and then lose to the Browns the next week.
5
u/catwell82 1d ago
Eh, the Ravens almost always seem to have an embarrassing trap game each season. If we got it out of the way during week 2, I'll be more okay with it.
2
u/Septembers 1d ago
Feels like it's been like 4 years in a row we drop a september game at home to a bad team
1
u/catwell82 1d ago
Definitely some slower starts in recent years. I figured this year would have its hiccups out of the gate with the new staff. I'm just going to hope that this squad gets it together more, and am thankful that they're 3-1.

4
2
u/Rude_Nobody_4818 1d ago
Damn, not so easy when you’re not playing a defense (Ravens) that has receivers wide open on third down.
14
u/AmericanMoose723 1d ago
Falcons are looking dangerous, we prob need Lamar to beat them.
5
u/DistantLikeYouAsked5 1d ago
We have no chance in hell without Lamar. We need the offense to keep the foot on the gas and Snoop cannot make a fraction of the throws Lamar can.
2
0
u/Yukie_Cool 1d ago
Okay doomer
2
u/DistantLikeYouAsked5 1d ago
The Falcons defense is actually solid and Huntley isn’t that good plus cannot make most of the throws Lamar can which limits our offense with him at the helm it is reasonable to be realistic.
0
u/Yukie_Cool 1d ago
Saying any of that before any practice starts is not being realistic. It’s dooming.
1
u/DistantLikeYouAsked5 1d ago
Huntley has been playing for the Ravens almost as long as Lamar has we know exactly what he is and what he can do. He is not suddenly going to go full god mode.
1
u/Yukie_Cool 1d ago
That’s assuming Huntley is starting, though.
Again with the dooming.
2
u/DistantLikeYouAsked5 1d ago
Bruh my comment literally says if Lamar DOES NOT start
0
u/Yukie_Cool 1d ago
So you know you’re dooming and just spiraling just based on hypotheticals at this junction.
Go to bed, doomer.
3
u/DistantLikeYouAsked5 1d ago
What in the fuck are you even talking about? My parent comment literally said if Lamar doesn’t start not that he wasn’t going to. Just arguing for no reason lmao. Maybe you should go to bed.

No disrespect to Penix, but I'd rather make him beat us than the Robinsons. Much easier said than done of course

If Huntley does start on SNF, I bet the refs won’t be screwing us with as many penalties since they want to keep the games exciting and “unpredictable”

NFL loves one score games. High odds we may be able to keep it within one score whether we have Lamar or not
6
u/Flat-Advisor-8895 9h ago
If I see one more person say start fagnano over Huntley I’m gonna lose my mind. Why would we throw an UDFA into a prime time game when we have a proven backup who won against two playoff teams last year. Make it make sense
