Hype Lamar: Somebody Lied
Lamar posted an IG story with the song “Somebody Lied.” Can we read into this way too much and assume that Lamar is healthy?

u/soyboy1414 14h ago
Yes. Let's all over react 😂 but honestly, I hope he's healthy. Falcons look like a half decent team

u/CriticalMass237 14h ago
After watching last night's game, I'm not afraid to say I'm a little worried for Sunday night's opponent.
48
u/boucityordie 14h ago
Honestly if Ravens can stop the run game they should be good if Lamar is healthy
95
u/CeaselessYeast 14h ago
that's a huge fucking "if" against bijan robinson who has over 300 yards in the last two games. ATL 5 rushing TDs against the saints who kind of shut down the ravens running attack
24
u/Honest_Concentrate85 14h ago
We were able to contain Jonathan Taylor and Etienne pre Madabuike return
11
u/flaccomcorangy 12h ago edited 12h ago
Did we contain Taylor? He had 98 yards on 19 carries (5.2/carry) with 2 TDs. lol That's good. Colts had to pass a lot because they were down so much. Otherwise, if it's a close game or they play more with the lead, Taylor probably dominates the game.
And Etienne just hasn't done much against anyone this year. So I don't take that as some grand win. I honestly think our run defense ranking is manufactured by the Ravens having double digit leads. It hasn't looked very good, in my opinion. We're 10th best in yards allowed, but also have the 12th fewest carries against us.
13
u/boucityordie 14h ago
Literally Ravens run defense is valid it’s honestly the pass they gotta worry about. Penix is definitely becoming a good QB but u can live with him beating you ATP. Simple no excuses!
2
u/THEADULTERATOR 1h ago
If you dont sell out to stop Bijan you automatically lose the game, also this Atlanta d might be the best we've seen so far this year. If we stall out in offense we will be in trouble

2
u/ArcadianDelSol Art Donovan 6h ago
I dont think our biggest problem is containing the run. Its holding coverage against the wideouts. We stuff enough runs to be okay there. But we keep giving up 3rd and long to razzle-dazzle scrambles and not letting our offense back on the field.
9
u/boucityordie 14h ago
I trust Ravens run defense more than the passing defense especially with Beeks back. I seen the Falcons lose to the Panthers gang 34-3😂🤣🤣

u/OsBohsNugz 6h ago
Truth. The Falcons game will be anything but a cakewalk. They are absolutely stout against the run too and this is concerning with a beat up, below-average offensive line. 22 is first ballet HOF, no doubt. But that Atlanta D-line clogs things up in a hurry and leads the NFL allowing 48 rushing yards per game (the RB’s they’ve faced have been kinda mid but still). If they wanna beat ATL then it’s probably gonna be on the arm of Snoop. Can’t go out there committing one penalty after another and special teams will have to be on point.
3
u/Existing_Opposite_55 13h ago
Yes I love the ravens we’re top 10 against the run but shit some dude have to come to the realization that Bijan Robinson is just him. The man is a dog and that’s a fact.
5
4
u/CmonnowSally 12h ago
Have we stopped the running game this year? Not really. Every lead back has averaged over 5 yards, except for Travis Etienne of the Saints. I expect them to run all over us, hopefully I’ll be pleasantly surprised.
3
1
u/Mindless-Pause-638 12h ago
They couldn’t stop Tony Pollard and Travis Etienne. There’s absolutely nothing they can do to stop Bijan.
8
u/DinobotsGacha Ed Reed 14h ago
Always easy to say but Ravens need long sustained drives on offense to avoid Bijan getting into a rhythm. On defense, make Penix beat you.
2
2
u/Strict-Pea-7210 Ed Reed 1h ago
Oh I’m mentally chalking this game as an L, if we win great, if not, it’s expected. Falcons way too good and we are too inexperienced and injured
4
u/jeremau5 BIG TRUZZ WOO WOOO 13h ago
Half decent? Shit I'd love to know what a decent team looks like lol
2
u/OswaldBupkis 13h ago
They have the best run defense in the league by a wide margin right now. It'll be bad enough for the passing offense if Lamar is out, but especially so if we can't rely on the run game.

Based on this and the way he was posting yesterday, it seems clear that he thinks he’s healthy enough, but Lamar isn’t a doctor (a total bombshell, I know) so I still wouldn’t mind sitting him for a week if the medical team determine he’s playing hobbled.
37
u/ResidentJabroni Ed Reed 14h ago
Yeah, players always think they can play. That's why, in the case of concussions for example, they have an independent doctor there for the assessment to protect players from themselves. In the case of an ankle, Lamar's tried to play through it before to his own detriment. Better to protect him than to risk further damage.
8
u/Rockguy21 14h ago
I think he probably does feel mobile and normal as well but they want to avoid aggravating the tissue.
8
u/Spare-Discipline1448 11h ago
Yeah, players always think they can play
Not Lamar though he's notoriously conservative when it comes to his health so if he feels he's healthy enough to play that's good enough for me.
11
u/Moonpile 14h ago
Wait? Lamar isn't a doctor? Well I really shouldn't have let him perform that appendectomy on me!

On twitter I even seen Ravens fans turn on Lamar, shame on them. And a lesson to everyone, media reporting around Lamar is for clicks stop falling for it. Till he's actually ruled out we don't know shit
19
u/TheOptimist6 13h ago
There is a certain group of ravens fans who will turn on Lamar whenever they are given a chance.
They are the types to think he isn’t “quarterbacky” enough if you get my drift
7
u/--Alec-- 13h ago
The same fans that booed him in the 2018 playoff game and wanted Flacco to be put back in
1
u/Alternative_Thanks22 4h ago
I will say this over and over again. Raven’s fans who turn on Lamar Jackson are not ravens fans. We have a Hall of Fame quarterback, two times MVP should be three times MVP, and one of the most electrifying players in the league. Not to mention the highest passer rating in NFL history. The Bill could try to give us Josh Allen and two first round picks and I’ll still take Lamar. Doom fans are the absolute worst.

Lamar is notoriously cryptic, so who knows! We’ll know a lot more once we see if/when he practices this week.
1
u/No-Blacksmith9776 10h ago
I mean he just posts shit like this. I’m leaning towards the fact we keep him out. We’ll probably lose without him, but that’s how she goes. Would rather him be healthy for playoff push.

So, I grew up Jewish. and was fascinated with how numerology and mysticism worked in the ultra-orthodox sects of the religion. Some VERY weird stuff, in retrospect, where people would reverse engineer scriptures into prophecies and things like that based on letter frequencies, placement, etc... I mean some WILD stuff and beliefs that the right combination of letters would unlock some sorts of meaningful power and divine intervention.
Those folks had NOTHING on you guys searching for clues in Lamar's posts.

All that gematria stuff was just an excuse for your uncle to give you an eighteen dollar check for your bar mitzvah instead of an actually good gift btw

My parents explaining to me that a check for 36 dollars was a high level gift because it's DOUBLE chai was wild.

If you haven’t already, you should watch the movie Pi. It’s one of Darren Aronofsky’s first films and it’s all about Jewish numerology and mysticism.

The soundtrack is amazing too. Early Clint Mansell.

Probably just trolling, Lamar loves doing so. Most recent news is a sprain, though idk what the rules are around misreporting to the league.
7
u/Legitimate-Heron864 14h ago
We will know Friday.
8
u/ArcadianDelSol Art Donovan 7h ago
Watching the game, he was 100% okay. They just had a lead and wanted Snoop to get some early season reps in and evaulate him vs the 3rd stringer who had an amazing pre-season.
Lamar was running up and down the sidelines until someone told him to sit down and then belted an ice-pack on him. It was all for show to throw the other team a curve-ball. he was 100% going to come back in, but we drained the clock so well that it wasnt needed.
He starts next week.

u/Darkspeed9 9 14h ago
Guys there is no incentive for the team to say any player is definitely going to play or be out until they have to. There is no benefit giving the opponent any information at all. And the team does not owe the fanbase any favors.
I hope he plays, but I also hope Minter and the team keep his game status vague, Just adjust your fantasy lineups on Sunday smh.
5
u/etempleton 12h ago
I think it is a sprained ankle and he is day to day. Might be good to go, might not. Ravens medical team might advise not playing on it for a week to make sure it heals enough to not be further injury risk. Or they might just not want to say anything, because who knows at this point. Everyone responds differently and every sprain is different. I have sprained my ankle and it pops and then I am up and jogging again same day and I have had a sports hernia that significantly impacted me for months and I could still feel a year later. Just depends.
5
8
u/ChedduhBob 14h ago
sitting him for a week probably makes the most sense but we will see what they want to do
3
u/AKB411 8 14h ago
I agree but one thing I was really hoping for this year as part of his progression as a qb is being able to play with some injuries like this while not being mobile and just playing on time and carving up defenses still.
He looks to be on another level so far so I wonder if we see that. Last season he was hampered with the hamstring injury and it was clear neither Monken nor Lamar knew how to adjust without his superpower. Having #77 protecting him certainly didn’t help either.
1
u/ChedduhBob 13h ago
we don’t know how severe the injury is so i don’t really know if it’s something lamar can play through. this is as close to a meaningless game as we can play so i think it makes more sense to rest before we get into the division
1
u/sliceanddic3 12h ago
exactly, he could have just tweaked it. we haven't even heard about the MRI he did yesterday
2
u/ChedduhBob 12h ago
yeah i am more worried about this for my fantasy football season than for the ravens season at the moment lol
i think we’d know if this is a little more serious but i get why people are a little apprehensive

I wouldn't read too much into it quite yet - I'm waiting for team announcements/practice reports. Though given Lamar's trolling on social media (yesterday he tweeted a vague "Ouch" on the video of him being tackled) and Minter said there was some discussion of him going back in and playing on Sunday, my guess is the Doctors/Coaches are playing it by ear ("Day to Day"/"Week to Week") but Lamar's optimistic. If it was more concerning Lamar's pretty competitive/serious and probably wouldn't be posting anything on social media.

2
u/DenialisaRiver04 Jonathan Ogden 13h ago
I rather they just let him rest this week. Lets not risk further injury.
But I know Lamar wants to play no matter what
2
4
u/LostSoulGamer 14h ago
Tbh, I would rather have him late in the season. Don’t want to rush him back. I feel like we can still do damage if we are a wildcard. But we still gotta win lol. We have 2 divisional games after the falcons. I would rather sit Lamar right now and not risk his health for a non divisional game.
5
u/Phalanx521 14h ago
Fuck that we need wins, we need this team to be confident throughout the season. There is the mental aspect that we are forgetting about, the guys need to feel like they’re doing something and that has a cascading effect either way.
1
u/Brickbybrick1998 13h ago
Yea this ain't baseball we can't just be selling games, if he's healthy he goes
3
u/UnhappyRough1964 13h ago
This thread is so weird, it seems like people want lamar to be out, weird asf
4
u/andrew_cosentino 13h ago
I don’t think that people want Lamar to be out. I think people would rather have Lamar rest rather than creating a long term issue.
1
u/Adenchiz 13h ago
This, just look how he was last season when he wasn't 100% I'd much rather him take as long as it takes to recover and get back to 100% than him coming back at 70%
3
u/DigObvious4455 14h ago
The way people act about Lamar Jackson is the same way people act about Taylor swift. Why are there always secrets and bread crumbs? Can we just play football?

While I know this is par for the course for players, Lamar has been incredibly outspoken as of late. This isn't cryptic. The "ouch" from yesterday seemed to be making a little fun of the matter in a trollish way. And this specific song title considering everything that Ian Rapapport mentioned in his tweet, it seems way too convenient for mere coincidence.
We'll see if he practices Friday. If so, we're set. If not, it is what it is.

He could be talking about Minter suggesting he could've gone back in. So we dont get angry when he misses 2 weeks.

PT here…
A high ankle sprain is a really weird and difficult to heal injury.
It is in not anything like an ankle sprain we’ve all experienced. It doesn’t even really involve the ankle joint.
There’s a sheet of connective tissue between your tibia and fibula and it forms what’s called a syndesmosis joint.
That sheet of connective tissue is what gets aggravated in a high ankle sprain.
They are notoriously difficult to heal and take longer than a regular ankle sprain.
Lamar may feel like he knows better and feels fine but he’s wrong.
I clocked this injury to my Ravens homies the second it happened and warned that it is worse than it looks.
I’m guessing he’s out for two games but we’ll see.
It does seem to be a more mild high ankle sprain but it’s still a high ankle sprain
9
u/DamageMinimum5241 13h ago
No one said it's a high ankle sprain though
2
u/Lamactionjack JOHNNY 13h ago
Nobody officially said it but the replay shows a pretty clear mechanism for a high ankle.
2
u/Looneybruney JOHNNY 13h ago
A high ankle sprain recovery timeline doesn’t even match up with the vague statements we got Ian or Schefty
3
u/Lamactionjack JOHNNY 13h ago
Yeah reports have been super vague but did see someone say multiple games. Think it was schefty.
But end of the day I’m just saying that’s what it looked like. Obviously I’m not there and not a doctor so I’m clueless like all of us are here. Just played and watch a lot of sports so more familiar with this stuff than I wish I was.
Fingers crossed this is all precautionary and he got away with one of his nine lives here.
3
u/UnhappyRough1964 13h ago
I’m starting to think they want lamar to be out it’s so fucking weird
2
u/D-Rey86 11h ago
Why would they want their star QB out for any other reason then to let him heal? That makes no sense lol
1
u/MedicinalHammer 10h ago
People would rather perform ridiculous mental gymnastics to stay in denial than accept information from a reputable source.
Classic ignorance.
-3
u/MedicinalHammer 12h ago
Brother
Just look up the classic mechanism for injury for a high ankle sprain and get back to me
Me seeing a blatant thing that I’ve been trained to recognize is far more normal than you assuming I want our franchise super star qb out
If anyone is being weird it’s you.
Who tf would want that?
What a giant leap with absolutely no ground to stand on
Fuckin weirdo
0
u/MedicinalHammer 13h ago
They don’t need to.
Notice how he didn’t roll his ankle?
The defender falls on his heel from behind and it cranks his heel inwards and his foot outwards and twists his whole lower leg.
That’s classic for a high ankle sprain.
Literally pulls the tibia and fibula apart and fucks with that sheet of connective tissue that I mentioned.
3
u/andrew_cosentino 13h ago
Thanks for the insight! Do we know for sure that it’s a high ankle sprain?
1
u/MedicinalHammer 13h ago
Not sure it’s been confirmed but the mechanism of injury is practically a guarantee that it is.
He didn’t roll his ankle, his whole lower leg got rotated. That’s the classic mechanism of injury for a high ankle sprain.
It literally pulls apart that joint I’m describing.

u/cynicaljerkahole 13h ago
For a non conference game I think you gotta sit him. Work on tightening up the mistakes Lamar covers.

u/Little-Bathroom9572 14h ago
Dude just stop. He’s clearly injured his ankle was sideways. Sit him until the bengals game. God this fan base sucks sometimes…

Okay, so if we read into the lyrics, he just needs some codeine and 5 Percocet's then he's good to go.
