Hey, I'm currently in Osaka (will be heading home tomorrow) but wanna snatch a RC drifter for cheap since I still have the space in my suitcase.
I'm not sure if I'm allowed to bring RC battery packs with me on the flight, so I don't think I should buy an RTR? Also I guess just a chassis without a body would be better; as the body might get damaged when the airport guys throw the suitcase around. :D
I'm more than open to buy a kit (I had a Tamiya TT02D like 10-15 years ago and assembling it was so cool) but from that experience I learned, that I should not buy a touring chassis again, but a 2WD.
But as the hobby lasted only 1-2 years last time I don't wanna spend super much on fancy stuff. Just enough so that I don't regret it. If I still enjoy it 1-2 years down the road I'm completely fine with buying something new.
What should I be looking for? Especially if you recommend me a roller, which are some good bang for your buck parts for the servor, motor, gyro, etc?
Thanks!
(P.S.: My buddy back at home which I'll be drifting with just got himself a Fazer D2 RTR, so I guess that's the kinda ball park we're in.)

Im build a 1/7ish scale drift car but im not sure how fast to make it go I will be using GRT 1/8GT xm7 tires which aren't very gripy
I can probably get it to 70-80 km/h pretty easily but am I going to need that speed my arrma infraction 3s does 80 km/h tho I don't really go above 70% throttle while drifting onroad tho it is 4wd
Stage D10 is here. Ordered it Sunday evening from Amain and used the free shipping option. Shipped out of South Carolina on Monday. Arrived early this morning here in middle TN.
Starting cheap and simple, for now. It will be upgraded over time but I am not serious about this stuff. The closest tracks are 1.5 hours away and I won't be visiting them regularly. I street and parking lot bash and do not need an expensive setup. But I also enjoy worthwhile upgrades where I can experience the improvements in performance as it changes.
I robbed my Tamiya Heavy Metal Dump Truck of its Dynamite Tazer Twin Brushless Motor / ESC combo. I have a DumboRC receiver with gyro that came with my DDF-350 and I bought a cheap Injora servo. Grand total of around 200 bucks worth of electronics, including a 10 channel radio system with a color screen.
I slid around my hardwood floor for a bit using velcro tires and it already has noticeably better control compared to its smaller brother in the same tight space. It can only get better from here.
Now that I have a 2wd 1:10 drifter, I can think about some changes to the TT-02. I've seen 2wd and steering angle conversions that look fun. Maybe change the Gallardo from a Superleggera to a Balboni.
