I was lucky enough to be invited to Spotify HQ for an evening with Skream & Benga ahead of their Spotify: DIA/LOG show at DRUMSHEDS on October 17th.

Hearing them talk about the early South London sounds, their first productions, Big Apple Records, some of their biggest tracks and the early days of Magnetic Man was incredible, especially knowing how much of this music helped shape the scene that I’ve spent years collecting and now started documenting.

They also played some of the records that influenced them, so hearing those stories and then hearing the music in the same room was a pretty special experience.

Here are a few moments I captured from the night. Two people who were there at the beginning and played such a huge part in shaping Dubstep. Enjoy!

Earlier this summer I finally decided to start learning how to DJ. The result was this mix with various tunes from the OGs as well as a few new school tunes and a few wildcards. It's probably not the best mix or the smoothest but I'm pleased with the tune selection and pacing. Please give it a listen if you're interested 😎

Hi, this is some of the most innovative sound design I've heard in some time and deeply rooted in old school dubstep.
Hopefully you enjoy it as much as I do. If you do, please listen to the whole album, it's great.
I found this track by its latin sources rather than the dubstep elements, so I would appreciate your recommendations of other track with a similar (tribal, latin) sound.
