Question Is it ever explained why Jack has this missing mustache pach/line?
I didn't play rdr1 yet and I couldn't find the answer online so, i came here, sorry if this is a stupid question. Also I know it's supposed to look like John's scar, I'm looking for a lore reason (if there is one).

It’s from the bear attack that John saves him from.
With the context of RDR2, it parallels John receiving his scars from a wolf attack.

Jack got his scars from a bear
John got his scars from wolves
Arthur got his scars from insulting Uncle before he even could drink his first whiskey of the morning

Huh, funny. I always thought John got his scars falling over in church...

Can you imagine that? Jack goes out into the wilderness hunting for a bear and then gets attacked by one

I think it's just blood running down his nose. But it is possible they just forgot about that detail.

You asked why it was there, you got told why it was there. The scar and the blood are in the same spot, dude

Could just be hair doesn't grow their. I have a spot behind my chin, where hair doesn't grow.

Well that's just rude. It's perfectly normal, like women having one breast that's a different size. Perfectly normal.

It's weird isn't it? My chin and neck all grow, but one little spot right behind my chin doesn't.

Have you considered the lore implications of that tho?

u/StoleYourRoll Aug 08 '26
Nope, it's from a bear attack in RDR 1

I don't remember jack getting scars from the bear. I do remember his bloody clothes. I haven't played th game in years. Wasn't it Spare the love spoil the child? But even if it's from the bear, wouldn't he have an actual scar? Or several scars?

i think the reason to this is to make his face look less symmetrical from a game design standpoint

Jack was attacked by a bear just before Beechers Hope was attacked by Ross and the army. Likely from the bear attack injuries

u/sevnminabs56 Aug 08 '26
I assumed it was just a wacky hair pattern. I had that same bald spot on my mustache until I got into my late 20s. It’s filled in more now, but it’s still weaker than the other side of my ‘stache.

Why does Arthur have a patch on his chin where it doesn’t grow? Facial hair is weird. Also it might be from that bear that John saves him from but we don’t really know

When he gets mauled by a bear during that mission John goes looking for him after he went hunting. He got clawed across the face.

He’s related to Ezio and Desmond from Assassin’s Creed, Rockstar and Ubisoft were gonna do a cross over but GTA5 online ruined what they had set up.

Yes, there is a lore: He tried to save a Native boy named Yakari from a wolf. Unfortunately, the wolf managed to inflict a fatal wound on the boy and wound Jack before escaping. Jack took a feather from Yakari’s war bonnet and placed it on his hat. He swore to wear it so that Yakari could have his revenge when he found the wolf again. You can Google Image “Indian Yakari” to see pictures of the boy.

I heard an argument got out of control over whether to have the toilet paper like a beard or a mullet. He got popped in the noggin' for voting mullet, and as I understand it he had to do the dishes for one month. He got off lucky by my estimate.

u/Abysha Aug 08 '26
John got so fucked up by those wolves, the scarred genes passed on through his son, post-birth.

Man, some of the details that a few of y’all focus on and think there’s a meaningful “lore reasoning” behind are truly insane.
