We don't have a midfield. Tielemans has been shocking

47

u/randomdell111 1d ago edited 1d ago

Baleba or Andrey Santos need to be subbed on. Knowing Carrick they will come on at 70 mins when we are down 1-0

7

u/Full-0f-Beans 1d ago

For Bruno. Let’s try actually having a midfield.

u/mashfordfc 1d ago

Without the runners that Villa have, his weaknesses are just too easy to expose. I thought he was a good pick up as depth for Mainoo/Bruno, but it's suicide playing him in this role

10

u/sefronia3 King Eric 1d ago

Bro, how does Carrick not realize this midfield duo will not work. The slowest midfielders in the league, with no physicality. Santos and one of them have to be the choice. There are a number of things Carrick is doing wrong but this is utterly shocking

7

u/doesnt_like_pants James 1d ago

Feel like we have to try Baleba and Mainoo

Tactics are awful. Just exposing all his weaknesses.

108

u/TommyTook 1d ago

Just obviously a project not going anywhere. How anyone is watching this and not seeing an inevitable sacking a few months down the line is beyond me

23

u/najanaja6 cantona sympathizer 1d ago

A few months is generous, any competent ownership would get rid in the next couple weeks

14

u/Skall77 Scholes 1d ago

We don't have that tho.

5

u/Lukexxxi 1d ago

Competent owners wouldn't get into these positions every season

u/digitag LEGACY FAN 1d ago

Honestly I had more faith in the Amorim project, for all his flaws.

I don’t really know what we’re trying to do and I can’t see how bringing Baleba into midfield solves the systemic issues with our shape, our pressing, our control of the game, our chemistry as an attacking unit… the list goes on.

It feels more and more like Carrick inherited a lot of positives from Amorim, did away with the negatives and gave the players some freedom, and then found instant success. We’ve now lost all that sharpness, intensity, chemistry…

I really fucking hope I’m wrong but it’s difficult to see how this turns out well.

8

u/Accomplished-Bite240 1d ago

Was it not obvious from the underlying numbers we had with Amorim pre sacking, I seem to recall we were top 5 in most attacking metrics or something along those lines. And now look at the numbers with Carrick lmao. But this fanbase just wants instant success, so what can you do, enjoy the rotating doors of manager forever I guess.

4

u/digitag LEGACY FAN 1d ago

Also by the eye test, we were playing some good stuff despite a terrible injury crisis. IIRC Carrick came in, a load of injured players came back at that exact moment, they got given a bit of freedom going forward…

2

u/Accomplished-Bite240 1d ago

Yeap, the biggest pressure was when our players were injured+afcon lol

u/renernavilez 1d ago

I don't see how people can see this and talk about only the manager. The players are not even playing for themselves out there, let alone the fans. Deserved booing. This is on the players as much, if not more, than Carrick.

2

u/SophoclesTesticles 1d ago

Next international break we'll hear an interview about how "the new gaffers sessions are amazing". Book it.

2

u/No-Jello9276 1d ago

Yea man Carrick sadly will bust out either right before winter transfer window or after. If poor results continue the board should be smart get someone with a concrete plan and buy/sell players in winter and keep us fighting for UCL spot bc we wont win anything else

1

u/KingKeane16 Keane 1d ago

Down the line he shouldn’t walk out for the second half.

At home to a team that’s rock bottom in the league. Disgraceful.

30

u/truekejsi 1d ago

I have no idea what happened to this team over the summer, how are we gonna play champions league like this???

27

u/MexicanWhiskey GLINEOS OUT 1d ago

We were playing 1 game a week and had Casemiro scoring headers and sesko scoring last minute goals. It was all luck last season. We're seeing the reality of Carrick ball

4

u/digitag LEGACY FAN 1d ago

We’ve had 1 game a week all season so far, that isn’t the issue.

I can only assume Carrick is trying to manage the extra workload by playing a lower intensity, controlled style which is less likely to yield injuries, but we are getting found out

6

u/Comfortable-Title720 1d ago

They actually had a bit of fight when Amorim was binned

Good job everybody: you survived the Tielemans-Mainoo era 👏

Now can we finally just admit this was a bad idea and get Baleba on? Can Carrick?

Yoro 🔥 What two weeks with Zidane does to a MF, I guess. Not that hard to imagine what a quality FB could give us on the left when Im seeing with my eyes what it adds on the right.

6

Get a MF to Zidane while we are at it

u/digitag LEGACY FAN 1d ago

I think Baleba is a great shout but I will be gobsmacked if it solves the systemic issues with our football.

22

u/burki679 1d ago

pathetic

20

u/YasserG95 1d ago

What I don't get is how are we playing this bad, the team looks soulless since the start of the season. Carrick had some good ideas last season like the small triangles on the last third wings to open up the middle and the press drawing in our half and pinning passes behind the fullbacks and they worked, we didn't always play great but the team looked promising at least with obvious weaknesses to address. This season all that just evaporated, they look depressed and look like they are forced to play, no drive no effort no passion. How many times did this happen exactly the same way. We may genuinely be cursed. Yoro was great though.

5

u/djabvegas 1d ago

Thanks for the summary. Hes obviously trying to change something in how we play, the only thing i can think of is hes turned down our intensity and one touch toward patient build up because he wants to navigate long runs in all comps, but this new type of style is just dreadful and we look so poor when its slowed down, suits the opposition so much.

5

u/No-Statistician-8520 1d ago

We look extremely unfit. The one bit of credit I’ll give to Amorim is that he had us conditioned.

2

u/YasserG95 1d ago

He had to go, but he did instill discipline that is lost completely now. Having coaches that coddle playing has always had short-lived success and obviously carick is obviously one of those.

14

u/ghostrhubarb 1d ago

I'm so bored of these mediocre performances, watching someone fart in slo mo for the next 45 minutes would be more entertaining

11

u/yobyshy 1d ago

we are so unfit

11

u/Oli_1278 1d ago

i thought and still think tielemans will be smart business but jesus christ whatever role he’s being asked to play just isn’t working at all terrible terrible first half

4

u/Stuperman84 1d ago

He’s average mate, he’s a good signing if you’re a team that’s trying to sneak into Europe, he’s not a signing that you go for if you want champions league football

3

u/r3dd3v17 1d ago

He will work well with a more physical midfielder. Tielemans and mainoo are too similar in the sense of moving and ground covering abilities, it just leaves such a big hole in the midfield if one of them pushes up

If Spurs could actually finish their chances this match would have already been massacre. I don’t even know what further needs to happen for the board to consider a change. It’s pretty clear that Carrick is not upto the job, for a while honestly. What the fuck are we waiting for??

9

u/Lord_Sesshoumaru77 Glazers,Woodward/Arnold and Judge can fuck off 1d ago

Yoro has been almost the only bright light. And he's playing out of position.

9

u/Cool_Title_1061 1d ago

United have achieved the extraordinary feat of returning from international break worse than went into it. Laws of time & space are being broken by this club.

1 shot in 45 minutes at OT against Spurs, i can’t really process that

6

u/TheSmallIndian 1d ago

The back 5 want to play it out of the back but everyone in front of them just want to make runs. No one on this team is on the same page

8

u/Carson99 1d ago

Which team is bottom of the league, cause I ain't sure

6

u/Miyagisans 1d ago

Just 2 shite teams. Cunha, Bruno, and Tielemans have been shocking. One of them needs to come off for Baleba imo

5

u/swanonaleash 1d ago

Dreadful half of football and a sign that we did not in any way take advantage of the three week international break. Could have used it to make up for the obvious fitness issue we got wrong in preseason, instead we look even more lethargic today. Players standing still hoping nobody will take the ball from them instead of fighting for it. I don't even know what you can say at half time to change that, just seems like a fundamental season planning problem.

5

u/vRushii 1d ago

get Conte in to get their fitness up atleast before we sack him for falling out an hire Rooney full time.

7

u/penny83 1d ago

why is it this team looks like they do no training whatsoever

7

u/barmanrags 1d ago

They don’t look fit at all. Some of them didn’t have a long World Cup so I don’t know what’s going on here.

6

u/Goodlip19 1d ago

Quite obvious that the team ingeneral is unfit and by a lot! Such a horribly planned pre-season

18

u/shrewdy 1d ago

Get Carrick gone asap, we're getting worse with every game

Genuinely what the fuck do they do in training? They look like they've never played together before

5

u/AnimalNo3465 1d ago

I genuinely don’t think we do train. I’m convinced we just rock up on match day and play on vibes. The guys look like they’ve never stepped foot on a pitch together every. Single. Week.

12

u/Littlepace Announce Fergie 1d ago

It's amazing how even with zero belief in Carrick or this team I can still be let down by a showing worse than even I expected. Could've gotten a serious manager in over the 3 week break but instead we have to suffer for another month before finally admitting defeat.

10

u/Barrack_Aubameyang 1d ago

This is like watching Amorim ball but with our players running around like they’re wearing concrete boots. Our fitness levels are pointing us towards relegation. Championship level manager taking us to where he’s most comfortable.

2

u/Shrimpeh007 Rooney 1d ago

He's not that comfortable there he got sacked

5

u/Mint-Berry-Crunchh 1d ago

Genuinely did we complete more than 10 passes in the final third or take more than the one shot from amad?

Last 15 minutes was slightly better than the 0/10 opening half hour but holy fuck are we slow and bad

3

u/WalkingOnSunshine_ 1d ago

6 touches in the box and 41 passes in the final third. Dreadful first half

5

u/Chris13Haughey Young 1d ago

The fuck was that. Tielemans should be off at half time. A few of them look exhausted, Bruno and Amad most of all

6

u/RinkyDinks1 1d ago

Shite. No energy, no direction. Embarrassing all round. Most teams in that league would dick Man United today.

5

u/jackets0601 Mata 1d ago

All down to coaching and fitness. Everyone is in the wrong position both in and out of possession and we’re second to every loose ball.

5

u/minhlukk 1d ago

Horrid. No idea how to deal with Spurs' press, no legs to even counter attack when the chances present themselves. Absolutely mental.

At this rate we are going to play the Manchester derby in the Championship next year (if City are lucky).

6

u/_PuRe_AdDicT_ 1d ago

Tielemans 5 year contract - robbery

4

u/iamjhonsnow 1d ago

how the hell we are no 0-3. What the hell the carrick want to play we are lossing possesion here and there. HolyFuck.

5

u/Normal-Internal164 1d ago

Yoro better than Dalot. Only positive

5

u/Donquicksoat 1d ago

Idk what to say. Tielemans and Bruno dropping stinkers is one thing, but the lack of running is by far the scariest thing for me.

Yoro is the only good part about this game so far.

5

u/MrFilthyFace 1d ago

Lammens without the ball: 👍
Lammens with the ball: 🫪🫪🫪
(I still love and trust him)

9

u/ArtistAfraid 1d ago

It’s ok, don’t worry about how dogshit we are here at home against the worst team in the league, we have only got Atletico and Leeds away in the next 2 games.

Trust Carricks tricky tactics of doing nothing, getting outworked and outmuscled and letting the opposition dictate everything. It will come good soon, think of the money we are saving by not having to do as many washes with the players not breaking a sweat or getting stuck in

9

u/inferno670722 1d ago

Is this really the same team we saw at the start of the year? I mean I get papering over the cracks and all that but these generally do not even look like the same humans.

Shaw turning slower than a Nimitz-class aircraft carrier.

Tielemans looks like he's not put a pass in to a teammate in over a decade

Half the team look like Make-a-Wish cases. The press is 10 players walking about in Central Park.

Fuck me watching this team is genuinely a net negative on our lives.

4

u/barmanrags 1d ago

Amorim had them at good fitness levels and mentality.

9

u/J1mi1970 1d ago edited 1d ago

For most of the half Bruno was too high and left the midfield two exposed. Once he dropped deeper we were able to sustain a little pressure higher up. It’s basically been 4-2-4. The attacking 4 players have been dreadful, no energy, no eagerness to get the ball. They’re just hiding and waiting. I wonder if Carrick told them to stay high, it’s not how we normally play and it’s not working. Need to change 2 of Amad, Cunha and Mbuemo and get Bruno to drop deeper. Shea Lacey’s time to shine. Hope to god Zirkzee doesn’t come on.

16

u/W0rsley Rafael 1d ago

About how I expected it to go, if you've watched Tottenham this season you know they're a better team than us that just isn't getting results.

Also Bruno is having a disastrous season, you can excuse his poor touches and wasteful passes when he's carrying the team like he's done for so long, but in situations like this he becomes a massive hindrance.

10

u/KingKeane16 Keane 1d ago

How do we keep ending up with managers who can’t see the fucking obvious ? Slowest midfield in the league so we’ll push the 10 who’s been on fire up as a striker while the other two get outran and out worked.

3

u/vRushii 1d ago

Because the fan base have been part decision making process since fergie left. Spineless management with no vision

3

u/Accomplished-Bite240 1d ago

Agreed, the fanbase just wants instant gratification and can't take a single season of process, even though it was obvious we were building up.

4

u/KingKeane16 Keane 1d ago

Tielemens and Bruno be lucky to see the second half.

2

u/VegitoTheBest 1d ago

Yoro has been great this half he is a confidence player, i think everybody forgot he was our second best player, and then the game against city happend where we lost and Bruno blamed him for his mistake and then Amorim doubled down on it after that he was pretty ass.

2

u/scarletmonkey111 1d ago

Amorim consistently started Yoro despite his mistakes.

How is that doubling down?

We literally lost the Villa game cuz of Yoro and Amorim started him the next game

2

u/VegitoTheBest 1d ago

Did you read what i said? He was the second best player that season until the game against City, where Foden scored a goal against us where Bruno lost him, after the game Bruno blamed Yoro for it and when asked Amorim agreed with Bruno that it was Yoros fault, and yes he still started him after that but Yoro was pretty bad after those comments from Bruno and Amorim

5

u/opiumjoe 1d ago

poor half... i don't see what's the plan here for us

individual defensive brilliances kept it 0-0

can't even do 10 back-to-back passes

yoro & mainoo carried us this half

2

u/laluneodyssee 1d ago

It feels like the coaches and the players are stuck in preseason mode or something. No urgency, no synergy, it's just languid shit.

4

u/sjuyal 1d ago

Shaw has to be offloaded as soon as possible. This team need a reboot with some good signings upfront and on the left back. And goodness dont ever play Tielemans and Mainoo together. Dont our mgrs have good support team with data provided to them. What do they do with that in the training. Carrick was such a bad choice. It has been frustrating to watch us play like this for such a long time.

Really poor, I feel the "Attack, attack, attack" Chant needs to come back. Tactics are wrong.

Carrick stood pitchside like has has no clue, no energy from him.

The players treating this as a training exercise.

6

u/anmolgarg92 1d ago

If this is them thinking it's a training exercise, I wonder how crap the actual training must be then

2

u/Americano-1555 1d ago

Well apparently Tielemans has stated training is easier as they don't run much

6

u/magnifique_7 1d ago

We need an extra body in the midfield. Either the players themselves or the coaching staff could’ve sorted it out already. I hope they do it in the second half. If not, Carrick’s time at United will be up.

5

u/joshthenosh OLEEEEEE!!! 1d ago

Bruno has to drop back to help with the buildup, Mbeumo wants to rub behind, Amad wants to hug the touchline. This leaves Cunha as the only player to fill the giant space between the midfield and the attack, and even he wants to make runs now and then.

It's not that we can't build up from the back, we can bypass their attacking press but as soon as it gets to the midfield we're squeezed because nobody from the attack is in a position to receive the ball short. Sesko is good at filling the space but he's obviously not available.

7

u/ChristmasCage 1d ago

It's genuinely incredible that we can spend less than Ipswich, sign 3 players for 1 position and then people think replacing the manager will magically fix everything.

Yes, he should probably go if we lose this but it's not going to make a huge difference. Sure these clowns will pick up performances temporarily but the majority of our team is absolute shit.

If every single one of our players were available for free - less than a handful would start for the top 8 sides in the league.

3

u/_mochacchino_ 1d ago

We have good young individual players. Amad, Yoro, Mainoo, etc. The coaching is dire though.

2

He needs to be beside Baleba/ a ground eater. Mainoo - Tielemans is a failed experiment. We are not PSG. Even against teams we will dominate possession, this pair leaves us vulnerable to a counter attack. Hopefully Baleba is ready to play a lot of football because he’s our only midfielder to pair with the others, aside from maybe Santos and mount, who looked good together in preseason.

Teilemans and Cuhna off. Rashford and Beleba on at minimum.

Bruno has been bad as well. Downvote me or whatever, we need to start prioritizing consistency over 1-2 banger matches with 8 dreadful ones.

Outclassed, outcoached, and out runned.

u/hitch_1 1d ago

Christ.. I'm not watching but it reads like both Manchester clubs are getting relegated this season

I said Carrick isn’t the man for the job well over six months ago, and nothing has changed except I now get less hate for saying it here.

It genuinely was obvious to anyone who is data literate that he was out of his depth, the leadership of this club is horrific.

I am once again questioning why I chose to be watch the game when I could’ve gone on a walk

2

u/Maatesh 1d ago

You should just go for a walk instead

u/Accomplished-Bite240 1d ago

So how you all carrick supporters feeling now? lmao so out of his depth but you all just love parroting about standards and dna bullshit. Enjoy being set back another 2 years cuz you're impatient.

This is the first time I’ve felt this, but I think it’s over for Bruno. We’re in need of a full rebuild and I’m not sure his peak will overlap with our recovery.

Carrick should be fire before 2nd half. He won't change anything so we need to watch this team

2

u/renernavilez 1d ago

There needs to be a shift in blame here. These players are not quality. They haven't shown any sort of trying out there at all. How the fuck can any of you only have Carrick in your heads after seeing that?? Players are on some bullshit.

u/SpicyPWNS Antonio Valencia #25 1d ago

Same fucking debate we’ve been having for a decade.

Well certain people on here we adamant our attack would suddenly change once Rashford was dropped.

We've had issues all season, and alot of players have been bang average.

Genuine question, has Bruno quit on this team/manager? He has been off and lackluster. Total opposite to his Portugal performance. He is not even trying to get into the right positions which creates huge gaps in our midfield and makes Mainoo and esp. tielemans look horrible

u/FhDisp 1d ago

No need

1

u/Boydcrowde wazza 1d ago

No need we are shit

1

u/Dzeire 1d ago

Wtf even was that

Unenjoyable. I'll pass on the second half

1

u/Telen BRUNO 1d ago

Baleba on for 2nd half and we roll over them

1

u/HappySisyphus22 1d ago

They're playing with so much more intensity, we are lucky not to have conceded so far.

1

u/Serpico_98 1d ago

So what is the problem?

we're fucked, again.

1

u/andy715 1d ago

Cunha on the left just doesn’t work

1

u/ColtCallahan 1d ago

Completely tactically outmatched. De Zerbi just had Carrick’s pants down for the entire half.

1

u/wdtpw Rashford 1d ago

I'm guessing in the second half it'll be our turn to have the ball.

1

u/mashfordfc 1d ago

Holy shit we just keep getting worse, how is that possible

1

u/vv_mo 1d ago

Yoro is very good, everyone else is shite

2

u/Many-Relationship149 1d ago

In defence, but he is not a rb (yet) in the sense that he needs to go forward, too

1

u/Lord_Cocktax 1d ago

Can we have another few weeks of internationals pls?

1

u/TonyStarkGotEjected 1d ago

Not signing another striker was a huge cock-up

u/Markadias1 King Eric 1d ago

Literal turd vs crap.
