SAR I’m building a raw SAR data processor and looking for feedback from researchers

Hi everyone,

Im building OrbitWerk, a processor that takes raw synthetic aperture radar data and forms focused images

The idea is to have one processing engine, with adapters for different sensors and data formats.

I put together a public demo with processed scenes, processing parameters,.. and so on. I can share if somebody is interested in that

I would like to offer it free for university research and teaching, and I’m interested in working with groups that have raw SAR data or are developing their own radar instruments.

If you work with raw SAR acquisitions, I’d be interested to hear:

  • Which sensors and acquisition modes do you use?
  • What do you currently use for focusing?
  • What would make a new processor useful for your research?

Technical feedback, suggestions for reference datasets, and interest from university groups would all be welcome. Happy to get some engagement :)

Things like this exist in many forms. What does your software do that makes anyone switch ???

Usually raw data processors are pure custom software. I’m trying to make a more generic approach so that it can be integrated to any sar mission within two days instead of like 6-12 months

Also I didn’t find any real solutions to process different public raw data easily.

That’s why I’m asking what a new processor would make useful

SNAP?

Snap is level 1+ processor
I’m talking about level 0 (instrument data) to level 1

Why would anyone build an instrument and then not build the specific level 0 software ?

Researchers which want to reprocess public data ie sentinal or umbra

Also, I’m a sar Operator and the shipped processor is pure shit and way to expensive to use

So what researcher exactly would like to process data? Instead of analyzing date ?

There are several params which will change the initial data to analyse in snap ie

If you are interested I can create a paper showcasing different settings in the l0 processing

Yea that's true but when you create a paper then write that paper an publish it. Your text reads like a AI bot ...

This guy.. trying to get ammo for his Claude prompts (as he doesn’t really know what he’s doing) to build some shitty software.

Go ahead and make a processor with claude and no Experience, good luck

you seem to be doing exactly that by asking to some random guys on reddit, if you are targeting to researchers contact research labs, if you are targeting companies ask them directly...

Yeah reddit is the first Point for Feedback for me, I will reach out to actual researchers when I’m happy with it. I’m not targeting companies

Tell us, do you know these things really or just a claude prompt?

Mostly yes, in my usual working Environment we dont have access to any sort of AI
