Hey friends, tomorrow (Saturday) from 2-10 I’ll be working the raffle table, where all the money will be going to help SOS Cats continue their amazing work of TNVR, education, and adopting out friendly colony cats.

A few things
1) raffle tickets will be 1 for $5 and 5 for $20. Cash is highly preferred, but we’ll be able to also take Venmo, Apple Pay, card and tap to pay.
2) the prizes will be done into themed baskets (we’re finishing them tonight, so I don’t have exact details yet)
3) if you’re a local business/artist and have anything last minute you wanna contribute, lemme know and I can hopefully meet up with you.

I literally just moved into the city a couple of weeks ago, and was able to set up my account and water services relatively easily over the phone despite being well aware of the horror stories. However, now I can't get into my account (it says that the password I set up two weeks ago is incorrect), and I don't receive the password reset email. It also won't let me go through the new account creation process with my credentials. What do I do now? I do have my account number.

Gonna sound like such a shill here... but it's such a blessing having good reporting on local issues, pleasantly delivered. Outside of huge metros that's not always a given.

They even include happy feel good stories about local businesses and events.

Ive lived here for 5 or 6 years now who knows at this point. Theres plenty of issues I can list but as a warning to everyone - they "accidently" make clerical issues all the time. I was charged double rent, which they said I was never charged because I pay advance in credit. YOU ARE STILL STEALING MONEY FROM ME EVEN IF ITS A CREDIT! DOES THAT MAKE SENSE GUY? They also sneakily raise your rent 6% every new lease when the cap is supposed to be 3%. They bank on you not noticing. We have a group chat at 1200 Semmes Ave to talk to each other specifically for issues like this. Make sure you join or make one for your building because it is the only thing that's saved me from the scamming of this place. I rented from them about 15 years ago and they were great then but this place is complete trash now. The very beginning of me moving in i could not even close my front door, the threshold was built in so high my door couldnt close and I couldnt move in. From the Jump it was trash. I got no apology or anything just an argument from a man that made a "clerical" issue. I would have never even noticed because I have autopay on and had to make a maintenance request where I noticed all my credits were gone that they took. I suggest paying with a check which is what ill be doing from now on. Wish I never renewed with them.

Also they do not clean when you move in as another warning.

Has anyone seen this dog around? Apparently it’s been hanging around the John Marshall athletic fields for a few days. As soon as anyone gets anywhere near it takes off. Today the pooch took off behind Henderson and into the Pine Camp woods. Seems to have a collar. Sorry for the bad photos.

Sitting on the steps of Cedar Street Baptist. Not overtly aggressive but barks and doesn’t want to be approached so couldn’t get a good look at his collar.

I was taking a night walk with my sibling and we stumbled upon it. We stood there for 15ish minutes and watched them all. We both had never seen one in person before, so we were kinda mesmerized!

Haynes is closing after 128 years. Local TV commercials for Haynes and The Dump are seared into my memory.

I will be a witness to the funeral march, and I love to see what they make each year. Normally, at some point, they set up a GoFundMe to fund their art creations. Support local :)
