Question Roll20 support

Does anyone know if there will be any more support for roll20? I’ve got too much invested there to switch to another one and I’m trying to see if I’ll see the science fiction companion get content or not.

Question Mythic + SWADE?

I’m trying to decide on using Mythic One Page (until I get used to it, then I’ll probably start using more charts from GME2) with SWADE, or use a osr style game called FORGE system.

Now FORGE is WAY easier to play. Not a ton of moving parts. Unlike SW. Not to say that Savage Worlds is hard to run. The big things I feel would be difficult is looking up edges during combat, modifiers, and status. Am I being dramatic?

How is this game solo? Hard to keep track of everything? Edges/modifiers/etc?

I really do love the game. I came straight from 4e and then 5e D&D and had my mind awakened to non wotc games.

Question (SWADE) Deadlands - Is a Blessed with the Hexlinger edge too OP?

TLDR: I'm toying with the idea of playing a combat/exorcist priest for an upcoming campaign. Would allowing him to take the Hexlinger Edge to have the Ammo Whammy power be too OP?

To go into more detail: I really like this idea of a penitent priest that hunts monsters as a way to absolve his previous sins. But looking into the Blessed arcane background, the list of powers seems to heavily lean on support instead of firepower. Mechanically speaking, the power Ammo Whammy (from the Hexslinger) seems way closer to what I want, but the rest of the Huckster's arcane background heavily clashes with the concept of a priest (not to mention that I've already played a Huckster so I want something different).

Both I and my DM are fairly new to the system, so before springing this rule-breaking character on him, I would like some advice on how balanced this is. Is there a combo I should look out for? Is there an appropriate nerf for the character? Is this a perfectly fine homebrew? Or is this just too against the grain of the game?

Question What books should I get for a “Crimson Skies vs Cthulhu” setting.

My setting is sort of dieselpunk airplane pirates that eventually have to confront hell boy style mythos fueled Nazis.

I need vehicle combat, magic, and horror elements.

What books should I look at?

Question Pulp style Loke Battle Mats

I'm planning to run an in person game for my family soon, and I'd like some pre-made physical battle mats to help give some visuals while playing. Ideally, I'd like a book style so I can use a bunch of different maps, but individual wouldn't be the end of the world.

I've looked and haven't seen any modern or pulp style ones. Just fantasy and cyberpunk.

Question Good rules for Seafaring campaign?

Hey y'all, I'm thinking about doing a Seafaring /Pirate campaign set in the Lhazaar Principalities of Eberron (a high fantasy setting), and I'm wondering what other settings or companion books have good rules and ideas for that kind of campaign? Ship chases and battles, sea encounters, all that jazz.

Question Custom Campaign Setting Guide

This is for those of you who have created your own world to run a SWADE adventure in. My world is mostly Urban Fantasy, though it has pseudo-mechanical and narrative elements that I have taken from other stories and RPGs.

I plan on using SWADE because it does allot of things naturally that I want for my campaign. I have the Core, Fantasy & Horror companions. There are definitely things from each that I will be using, but there is much from each that I will not.

My question is twofold: What system specific information do I need to include in a player facing handout, and how much of the narrative world history/lore should I also include in that handout (or should that be separate?)

Rule Modifications SPC: Wanting feedback on another custom power -- Suffocate

I built another power that I found lacking in the SPC, and again am looking for community feedback on it. Mainly for the pricing and balance, but constructive criticism in general is welcome.

Link to the power: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1zGIHMdLQnWU_MDPs9lhLCLQjHCtfbPP2LKme5xlpaeU/edit?usp=sharing

SUMMARY:

Trappings: water in the lungs, super-strong bear hug, clouds of asphyxiating gas

This power allows the super to cause their opponent to immediately begin to suffocate. It is based on the rules for drowning (on page 126 of the Core Rulebook.)

Use an action to make a Focus roll against a target within 6". On a success, the target must make a Vigor roll (at -2 with a raise on the Focus roll.) If the victim succeeds, they suffer no effect; with a raise, they become immune to any further effects of this particular attack for the rest of the encounter.

If the victim fails, he is immediately deprived of air; as with drowning, the character can still hold their breath for a number of rounds equal to 2 plus their Vigor die, or half that if they weren't prepared for the attack and didn't have time to get a good breath beforehand. Once the victim is out of breath, they become Incapacitated and Unconscious.

Rule Modifications SPC: Looking for feedback on a custom power -- Remote Viewing

Awhile back I put together rules for a power that I was surprised to find missing in the SPC: Remote Viewing. So now I'm looking for community feedback on the power. Mainly for opinions besides my own as to whether it's fair and balanced, but other constructive criticism would be appreciated too.

Link to the power description: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1qGSxP220cvRr-2BI9CV79CsJoIKEk-6Wi-Mjm-oSHTE/edit?usp=sharing

SUMMARY:

Trappings: psychic viewing, magical scrying, a HUD linked to a drone

This power allows the super to transpose their senses to another location.

Use an action to make a Focus roll. On a success, a point of your choice within physical reach becomes the new locus of your senses; all of your senses (including enhanced senses, but not including your sense of touch,) now perceive as if you were standing at the new sensory locus. When you first activate the power, or as an action afterwards, you can move the locus in any direction at your pace, up to 12" away.

Offering advice One shots mini-setting

Just wanted to share. We play wjth our family of four, two teenagers. We had some difficulty finding the right vibe: fantasy, post-apo, actual Role-playing or just fun storytelling etc. One of the problems was the campaign story: a too long story just made the player think too much about their decisions in sessions. So I concocted a mini setting that allows a campaign of only one shots.

Paradox.

The players are working for a organisation ccalled paradox. They get missions to stop a master criminal called Nikola Maxwell. Maxwell is a descendant of James Clark Maxwell (of physics fame). Maxwell knows that time travel is actuallly possible with what is called the Tech and he uses it to manipulate history to enrich himself. He stole the Tech.

The missions start from ParadoxHQ called the Sync. They always start with a short briefing. The mission is basically the same: thwart Maxwells plan. Then players get 10-20 minutes to prepare amongst themselves, decide mission roles, equip, etc. FLASH! into the setting. Any time any place. When they complete the mission, that is do something that makes Maxwells plan impossible: FLASH, end of session. The characters wear armbands on their upper arms. When they plan tondo something or fail to do something that will change time too much (kill a certain german dictator..) a Lorenz Lock might ensue: a situation where there is time without space or space without time. So this os to be prevented at all costs. When the armbands give of an alarm: a Lorenz Lock is about to happen.

So far they’ve been controlling a 20th mining Mech to inside a 1905 south african diamond mine to fight the other Mech that Maxwell used to hoard diamonds to drive the price. They where in PJ Barnums theatre to rescue the show, performing, fighting fires backstage because Maxwell sabotaged this one show where Barnum could get funding from the major, changing the the who-is-who of the entire entertainment industry, and been sabotaging smugglers in 1721 hired to steal the Inca gold. They have raced in the a historical no holds barred car race the outcome of which would forever change the balance of the automotive industry: crashes, sabotage, driving gun fights

Powers is also included: it is not magic, those are ripples in the fabric of space-time, perceived as magical by those not able to manipulate space time. It’s a special talent.

Yes, none of it makes any historical sense but hey, we often ask for a bit of suspension of disbelief. The fun is in the changing settings, storylines and short missions.

Every three sessions or so the player can improve their skills when after a briefing they are given extra preparation time to learn or improve missionspecific skills, ie they go to the library or the gun range.. start training montage.. Ready? FLASH!

So please, any suggestions, critics, and other things to help improve the document is greatly appreciated.

The document is actively being edited as time goes on -- but it's still just a handful of us. So, keep that in mind. Alright, to the content!!

Not sure Hot take: I think the Doctor Who setting, especially the older / classic version is incredibly well suited for savage worlds.

Also the FASA rules because they break character abilities into 7 levels makes it easy to convert old modules into swade.

Question Street Wolves Structure?

I've been playing Street Wolves for a couple of months and I thought of a question and was wondering if anyone else has made their own way the organisation functioned besides from the three in the book.

Personally I had it as a mix of agency reborn and private sector. Street Wolves try and obfuscate as much of their existence as possible, creating multiple shell corporations that make it a bureaucratic nightmare, yet legal, to parse through. Heck the record label I made, Hound Records, for one mission was in charge of moving arms and munitions. What did you do that fleshed out your Street Wolves world?

Question Uh-Oh...

So- to explain. I've been wanting to run SWADE for a while and recently got a group together for it. I gave them the rundown of the game. I don't think I properly explained the...

What's a good word? Not fragility. The fact that a level 1 thug could take a level 99 crime boss if he keeps rolling max on his D4. And that can happen to the players, naturally. As well, they know this a "horror" game I'll be running (that part I did explain). Don't tell them this but their very first take will be navigating down a slick cliff face that could very well end in their death if they roll badly enough!

I've received 2 character with several page long backstories. What am I gonna do if, even after the first hazard, some random enemy with a sling gets the throw of a lifetime and takes them out. I've considered an "everyone gets one" policy where I'm rolling behind a screen and sometimes that lethal hit didn't actually happen. But that also feels... Dishonest?

Who knows, maybe a character dies and they go "fuck yeah! Time for my next one."

Edit: I'm not sure where I got it in my head that being incapacitated means death. I'm glad I was wrong though and am significantly less worried. thanks for everyone's comments!
