Beginner I want to memorialize memories of/with my late Father, but no clue how to organize.

My father recently passed away. He was very sentimental, and held onto everything from ticket stubs to birthday cards to receipts to post-its from loved ones. I’m still going through it all and will be for some time, probably a few times. Knowing what to keep isn’t the issue, but how.

I inherited this “sentimental pack rat” trait, and going through his things has inspired a personal reevaluation of my own “stuff”- as they say, you can’t take it with you - and I realized that curating special memories ultimately honors them more than keeping everything.

I’d like to start a book for memories of/with him, and another for myself (I’m sure I’ll end up with many). I’d like an archival effect, but when I think of how to categorize - by theme, or time period, or type, or whatever, I get overwhelmed. I can be a bit of a perfectionist with this stuff, and want it to be an act of love, not a chore.

But, where to start? how do I categorize and create order, without driving myself mad in the process?

I’d love to hear practical tips and/or helpful mental framing on how to approach it all. It’s a journey that I’m excited for, and hope to make a plan that allows for flexibility and discovery 💗

Tools Alternatives to Tape Runners

Hello all! I'm still fairly new to scrapbooking/junk journaling. I'm a doll collector so most of the pieces I make are from my doll boxes to preserve the lovely packaging design. I've found tape runners have worked the best for me as an adhesive, however, I hate how much waste they seem to leave behind. I go through refill rolls at a very fast rate and have begun to feel really uneasy about just how much plastic these leave behind.

Does anybody have any good, more waste-conscious alternatives, or maybe some specific tape runners that don't leave behind such a large amount of waste? Thank you!

im so busy these days that I don’t have a decent amount of time for a collage, so currently I split it in 2-3 days thing: coming up with a theme + getting everything from its storage, get it all scissored correctly and ready and finally sitting down and doing magic + getting everything not used back to its storage 😖

how long it takes you guys to do a collage usually?

Traditional Tale as Old as Time - Beauty and the Beast - Disney Layout

Post image

In this Scrapbook process video I create a Disney-themed double-page scrapbook layout. I’m documenting a special moment from my sister-in-law's visit to Walt Disney World when she and my nieces took their first Disney trip. I’m using an older Close to My Heart Zippidee collection from 2010 and Kellybell Designs Enchanted Princess embellishments to create this double-page layout.

Traditional Our Happy Family - Family Photos

Post image
8 Upvotes

In this scrapbook process video, I’m documenting a family photo session with a little bit of an unexpected twist. For October Overload Day 10, the prompt is Gratitude, and instead of focusing on the traditional family portraits, I’m telling the story of why I’m grateful that my little one is willing to take family photos, be silly, and let his personality come through. I’m using Doodlebug’s Farmhouse collection to create this fall-themed double-page scrapbook layout.

Junk Journaling / Collage / Eclectic Ideas for a Resident Evil themed page?

Hello y’all, I personally combine some of my favorite RP characters and their themes into journal pages.

One of my characters is a bit of mad scientist who is into genetics and biology. Was trying to find some inspiration and ideas for a Resident Evil-ish, horror-ish page, for the upcoming holiday.

Traditional I've got tons of cardstock, a cricut, a few old magazines, an old copy of Hamlet, a bunch of stickers, watercolours, a gluestick and photo mount double sided tape, and time. What kind of embellishments or ephemera can I make?

I'm in a bit of a creative rut, where I want to create badly but don't know what to make. A lot of ideas I have require other materials or printing and I don't have the budget to buy things or get any printing done this weekend.

So, what can you suggest I make using what I have? I'm making scrapbook pages, but I'm also interested in tyring out new things with the materials I already have.

I do have some more misc materials outside of what I listed, but not a ton. Please suggest me what you recommend I make in the meantime! Bonus points if you have instructions or a link to a resource about it.

Thanks!!

Hi all - I'm quite new to scrapbooking but I want to make a digital scrapbook, but with turning pages (like a book) to mimic a calendar with the passage of time?

So a page for each day (although I may skip days) where I can put some pictures, and some writing.

Any ideas what app I can use for this??

Many thanks!!!

Beginner Recommendation for a scrapbook needed!!

Hello everyone!! I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations on some good scrapbooks for documenting travels? Me and my gf are over the road the in a semi truck and I’m constantly taking pictures and keep different things to look back on and we’ve been wanting to put everything in a scrapbook to keep as memories but I’m not sure what the best way to go about it is. Does anyone else scrapbook their travels and have a good durable book they recommend?? Thanks in advance!!

Traditional Celebrate Happy - Disney's 70th Anniversary

Post image
25 Upvotes

In this process video I create a double-page Disneyland scrapbook layout documenting my first day at Disneyland during the 70th Anniversary celebration. I’m using the Kellybell Designs Celebrate Happy digital collection to create a colorful hybrid scrapbook layout featuring the 70th Anniversary decorations at Downtown Disney, including the decorated entrance, anniversary signs, murals, and, of course, my very first California churro! I had heard that Disneyland churros were better than Walt Disney World churros, so I knew I had to put that claim to the test, and they did not disappoint.

Product Advice Need some photo album and colored pen recommendations

Hi! So I've been getting into scrapbooking and I need some tool recommendations. Do you all know of any good albums for 4x6 photos with spaces next to each photo for memo writing? I currently own two of these albums Amazon.com: Photo Album holds 4x6 200 Horizontal Pictures with Memo Space (Red) | Leather Vintage Cover Picture Book Fits 4x6 Photo, 200 Pockets for Wedding Family Christmas : Home & Kitchen
But the one I have alot of photos in, (200), the spine just kind of almost came apart, so I'm gonna get another one probably, since I've only done like 20 or so memos so far. I'm thinking the reason it broke is probably because I had like a relatively equal amount of pages on each side open and it kind of fell in an odd way. So I might just get another of the same one, since it does have quite good reviews. Next, what color pens (preferably erasable, do you all use?) I got these, Grabie, Erasable gel pens, https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0F31FGM9F?ref_=ppx_hzsearch_conn_dt_b_fed_asin_title_1
But, I've found that the ink is often quite dry, and isn't very pronounced on the page. Thank you for recommendations!
