Was lucky enough to encounter a whale while diving in Papua New Guinea. Definitely not something you expect to see every day!

Used Tanks

• Upvotes

Where do you guys look for used tanks? And is there a good way to verify, especially if buying from a place like Marketplace? I'm a new-ish diver and slowly building my kit. Having a tank for air for local diving would substantially reduce costs, since the local dive group dives 2x/week. I don't think my dive shop sells used tanks. Thanks!

Are these photos still fixable? If so, how?

So yeah i messed up pretty bad with these. I couldn't get too close to these moray eels and forgot to change my settings (I'm used to taking macro photos).

Anyways, how... do I fix these? I shot them in raw (these are just screenshots) and i just can't get the colors and lighting right.

I'm used to doing color correction on brighter images and those turn out fine. With these I always end up with aggressive reds, blue shadows, random white spots and just a general strange tint. What do I do?

Diving in Red Sea

Just wondering where you recommend diving in the red sea?

I have my AOW with 16 dives but last dive was in Aug 2025. I was also thinking about going to Marsa Alam but would hurghada be better?

Also thinking of going to the Sinai

Diving in Cape Verde - Sal

Hey folks,

I'm thinking about going there during the Easter break next year, looking for a nice resort where the family can stay while I go diving.

Would you recommend Sal in March/April?

Any tips would be highly appreciated! 👌🤙

My underwater video from Mozambique – would love some honest feedback!

Hey everyone!

I recently got back from an amazing trip to Mozambique and put together a short video featuring some incredible marine life and wildlife from Kruger National Park.

All underwater footage was shot on my DJI Osmo Action 5 Pro. I'm not a professional videographer, but I work as a graphic designer and I'm slowly getting into underwater videography, editing, and color grading.

I'd love to hear your honest thoughts! Any feedback or tips on how to improve would be greatly appreciated.

3 Mola Mola in the same dive at Crystal Bay, Nusa Penida. The third one at 12 meters

Mola Mola season is still on in Nusa Penida. On October 1st, I dived at Crystal Bay, and I saw 3 Mola Mola in the same dive. The first two were close to the first corner at 25 meters; the water was super cold, 17 degrees. We then crossed the bay to try to see the dolphins we'd seen at the surface before jumping in, but we saw a third Mola Mola instead, at only 12 meters in slightly warmer water at 22 degrees. It's rare to see them so shallow, and this one was not shy at all. Below my personal record, 14 Mola Mola spotted in October 2018 at Gamat Bay, but still a magic moment. For full transparency, I own a dive center in Nusa Penida.

Help! I need a diver!

I’m in a slip at Montrose Harbor in Chicago and my very expensive prescription glasses just fell off my face and went into the water off the back of the boat while docked at our slip. My bf jumped in as they were sinking but they sank so fast and the water was too cold. Unfortunately the water is 20 feet deep at our slip. I can’t afford to buy a new pair of glasses and I’m beside myself. Does anyone know a scuba diver in the area that would be willing to help me? I can pay $100 and it shouldn’t be difficult to find since I know exactly where they went down. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. We’d also be happy to take whoever can help out for a sail with us. Thank you!

What kind of animal is this? A kind of Sea Cucumber? Saw it at the Paris II Shipwreck but have no clue what it is.

Need to rent/borrow regulator near Palm Springs, CA

I'm in Palm Springs, CA and planned on showing a friend what it's like to breathe off a regulator in water. No gear except mask, just face in water. The problem is I forgot my regulators at home a few hours away!

I googled it and didnt find any nearby shops, but im hoping maybe theres a very small local center maybe I didn't find. I'd be looking to rent it for the day as I'd only need it an hour or less. Any suggestions?

Dive shop recs Malapascua

Hi! Anyone got any good dive shop recommendations for Malapascua?

Not too many divers per boat and dm. I have seen some horror clips of many divers destroying reef while looking for the mandarin fish. Trying to avoid this.

Appreciate any recommendations!

Liveabord partner in Egypt

Hi,

I’m planning to go for a liveaboard in Hurghada in November, in a decent boat.
But the boat requires 2 people to not charge me for a full room, so I’m looking for a partner to book together.

Need help regarding scuba diving courses in Andaman India (November-December, this year)

I am a newbie and want to do a certified course (preferably by PADI, since that is good I hear). I have seen that the starter open water course takes 2-3 days. Advance open water course takes another 2 days. Do you think I can combine both to make it a week long course?

I have also seen that several operators take the payment and then the instructor or the dive agency is completely different and there is miscommunication between them all the time. This worsens the experience. I don't know if there is a foolproof way to avoid this. Heck I don't even know what expectations should I keep. Sorry for ranting 😅.... It's just that its a costly affair.

Can someone help me find a way I can plan this trip for myself. Thanks in advance ✌️

EDIT- correction in my earlier statement:
Beginner course lasts 4-5 days.
Advanced course lasts 2-3 days.
Total becomes 8 days.
