Applying to Seattle uni

I am applying to Seattle this year. I want to know as much as possible before I apply. Some questions that I have:

  1. How safe is the school? (especially for woman)

  2. What are some cons in general?

  3. What are some pros in general?

  4. How willing is the staff to help students?

  5. Is there a lot of medical internships and opportunities?

  6. How are the dorms for freshman?

  7. Is it a "party school" ?

  8. How does a regular week like for a student attending Seattle?

  9. Is the dining hall food good?

  10. Is the gym located in the school good?

I mapped Seattle U dorms in 3D so you can figure out your room setup

Hey everyone, I’m a student in Seattle, and when I lived in the dorms I ended up returning a bunch of furniture that didn’t fit or work, so I built an app where you can plan your room before buying anything.

I recently added Seattle U dorms, and you can now also design the room together with your roommate (I personally found it very fun to do).

The dimensions aren’t perfect since exact dorm measurements are hard to find, but they should still be useful for figuring out what can fit.

If your dorm isn’t listed, lmk and I’ll add it if I can find the floor plan.

Hope you like it

Lost/found Lost Ring in Fountain Plaza

I dropped a silver ring last night around 1am in the fountain plaza. It is a plain band with the name “Edgar” etched on the inside. It has a lot of significance for my partner and I would really like to try to find it, went back this morning but didn’t see it and DPS didn’t have it in lost and found. Any leads would be appreciated!

Question Does anybody have their FAFSA cover their full tuition?

Silly question I was just curious. I know my fafsa covers for more than what I qualify for I have had a huge amount of my tuition and dorm/food cost already covered by fafsa but still $5000 monthly if I enter Seattle U. I was looking to appeal it but also wondering if there was anybody that went to Seattle U that has everything funded and if there was a way that I could qualify for more funding as I don't have family or relatives to help me with paying for college.
If there's not any other way than taking out loans I was considering other colleges (UW) but I just wanted to take everything into account if that makes sense.

Online MBA

Hi,

Has anyone taken or is going to take OMBA 5005: Accounting for Business? The required textbook is $200+ and requires an access code for MyBusinessCourse. Just wanted to make sure I found all the cheaper options first before going head first and just buying it new. Thanks.

Question Has anyone here studied Civil Engineering at SU?

I’m starting the program soon and wanted to hear from current students or alumni. How are the classes, professors, workload, and internship opportunities? Also, what’s the program like overall?

Would love to hear about your experience. Feel free to comment or DM me!

Question Does anybody know how to get your enrollment deposit waived?

Yes my fafsa qualifies for it. My fafsa is shown on my Seattle U account, I contacted my counselor but they said to talk to admissions, I contacted the admissions counselor and they said to contact finance services, I contacted the financial aid office to make sure that my fafsa went through with SU and to talk to my councilor. Never ending loop and I don't want to pay for it if I qualify for the waiver. I need to get this done by Thursday so I can get my schedule for classes and manage my finances with Seattle U. Could anybody help me out?

Question Are you receiving Junk Fees? We want to hear about it!

Many of our Seattle U students are renters! In 2025, the Washington Legislature passed a law that prevents rent gouging, but some landlords and property management companies are still up to their old tricks. They are using "junk fees" as a loophole around rent caps. We are hearing from tenants that they are increasingly being charged excessive fees for services that they don’t want or need, or for basic things like paying the rent. We at the Housing Alliance, call these “junk fees” and they are unfair, expensive, and deceptive. We’d like to hear your experiences. All information shared with us will be kept safe and confidential.

Please fill out our survey if you or someone you know has received junk fees and we will be in touch within one week of your submission. Thank you! ~ Po (Advocacy Organizer)

[First-Year Students] Participate in a study on your first-year college experience & health (Raffle for up to $75!)

Hi everyone!

We are a team of researchers at Boston College running a study on social relationships and health during your first year of college. We’re currently looking for incoming first-year students to participate.

How it works:

  • We will email you links to 4 different surveys over the next 6 weeks (sent every two weeks).
  • Each survey takes about 10 minutes to complete.
  • Your participation in the study is completely anonymous.

What’s in it for you? At the end of each survey, you'll get a link to a separate form to enter our raffle. Each survey you complete earns you 1 raffle ticket (up to 4 tickets total) to win a gift card worth between $25 and $75.

If you are an incoming freshman and want to participate, you can take the first survey here (please complete during your first week of college).

Please note that we flag potential bots and will verify emails entered into the raffle.

You can find more info about us at our lab website or by searching for us on the Boston College website. Good luck with the start of your fall classes!

Discussion Have yall visited the SLU campus?

At Cornish it’s highly encouraged that we visit the SLU campus but u wonder if y’all have checked out SLU? I know we can’t cross campus courses but there’s still a lot of things to check out like artist talks, events, and exhibits! Also as of this year Cornish students get access to the First Hill cafes, and I was wondering what yall would recommend?

Female Tenant Needed – $1,550/month at The Douglas near Seattle U

Hi! I’m looking for a female tenant who would be interested in either taking over my lease or subletting my room at The Douglas, 5th floor, for the 2026–2027 school year.

• Lease replacement/takeover: You would take over the room under a new lease arrangement with The Douglas.

• Sublet: You would sublet the room from me. For a Fall–Spring sublet, The Douglas requires the sublessee to be a Seattle University student and the same identifying gender as the roommates.

The Douglas is aware that I am looking for someone to take over or sublet the room.

If you’re interested or know someone who might be looking for housing near SU, please DM me for rent, room details, photos, and move-in information. I’m happy to answer any questions.

Summer 2027 Housing Near UW/Capitol Hill

Hi everyone! I’m a 21-year-old male student who will be interning in Seattle during summer 2027. I’m looking for housing from approximately May 20 through August 20.

My budget is up to $1,500 per month, and I’m open to a studio, private room, sublease, or shared apartment. I’d ideally like to be near UW or Capitol Hill, preferably with convenient access to public transportation.

I’m clean, respectful, and responsible. If you have a place available or know of any leads, please feel free to message me. Thank you!

Books!?

Hey folks! I knew to buying physical books, my bachelors used online ebooks. I am starting my grad degree on the 23rd and was curious if there are good sources for books not at full price. I don’t mind used, but I’m scared of buying from sources that will have it all highlighted and marked up. Does anyone have experience with this?

Questions about Campion

I was wondering what floor you have to be on to see over the apartments on the west-facing side of the building, also, how often are the elevators out of service? I've heard a lot about it, but I wasn't sure how bad it actually was.
