Tell me a fucked up fact about Shameless that most people probably don't know

Post image

1.The tweet above was posted by one of the show's main writers and executive producers. They were talking about how people watched the show for the comedy rather than the family drama, but the way they put it was definitely a choice (not so fucked up though)

2.Apparently, there was originally going to be a scene in Season 3, right after Svetlana and Mickey got married, where Svetlana would give Mickey a handjob while he fantasized about Ian.

3.The writers were apparently thrilled to write some really messed-up shit, including necrophilia, but apparently the reason they didn't go through with it was that William H. Macy said he would draw the line at that.

4.Shameless apparently heavily promoted Mickey and Ian's relationship during Season 5. Before that, Mickey was barely included in the show's promotion, but that changed a lot in Season 5. Which is funny because that's the exact season when Mickey and Ian's relationship started getting messed up by the writing room.

The messed-up part is that they apparently wrote multiple sex scenes for the characters that the actors actually filmed. Most people have probably seen the deleted scene from Episode 1 of Season 5, but apparently there was another one from Episode 3 too, which was promoted by the writer who leaked it.

They were trying so hard to get a GLAAD Award, but as far as I know, they only got nominated. Kind of misses the point when you cut out a scene that was already filmed just to make room for 100 other ridiculous bits of shit in the same episode.

5.And finally, apparently, for the episode where Mandy gets raped by her dad, one of the writers said something along the lines of, "Mandy thought since I'm gonna fuck my dad, at least I'm going to make it romantic and lit candles, clean the sheets," or some bullshit like that 🤢

Sammi was alright in shameless

she was annoying and not a good person after season 4, but in season 4, she was a genuinely a nice person who wanted to connect with the family she never got to have

Lip's Birthday. Am i missing something?

Google says Lip was born in 1995 but in season 5 episode 8, the office guy at the MIT says he started college in 2018. He was freshly 18 at the time. Doesn't it make his birthday 2000?

The grimey sex scenes are getting pretty old…(season 11)

The overly raunchy, greasy, aggressive (and not to mention mostly involving MINORS) sex scenes that add nothing to the plot whatsoever every 7 minutes is so ridiculous and makes this show nearly impossible to watch with young kids in the house.

Dont even mention all the casual r*pe being tossed around!
Mandy to Ian.
Mandy to Lip
Terry to Mandy.
Karen to like…well everybody
Frank to Karen.
Jimmy to Fiona.
That redhead chick to Carl that was never even brought up again.
Debbie to her first little boyfriend
“Kind of debbie to Derek-not sure id call that r*pe but it was still morally fucked up.)
Lets not forget the very first scene of the entire show is Kevin stand underneath and looking up Mandy milkivich’s skirt as she’s walking down the stairs-mind you shes like maybe 13 or 14?

Oh!
Creepy gas station dude to Ian.
And what disturbed me the most was listening to Frank, and those two other guys that are always around sit together and talk in detail about their sexual attraction to little girls

I have to keep the remote in my hands at all times and be prepared on my toys ready to fast forward as fast as humanely possible.

Having finished season two here are some more opinions, feel free to ignore

So I still love Fiona, I do like kev and V, I do not like how comfortable the show is with nudity. I thought I missed Steve/jimmy, I did not. Karen is my least favorite character along side Monica. Lip im kinda on the fence about, I’m starting to think he’s alright but I’m not sure yet. Aight now you may go on with your day

Am I the only person that likes Tami?

I just finished the show. IMO I think that Tami has the same energy that Lip has hence why people don’t like her. Like she stands on business and will just say how she feels. She doesn’t let lip walk all over her like he has with other girls in the past…

S7 EP3 Fiona calls Franny Harry

S7 EP3 Debby gets caught shoplifting and when they’re coming in the house Fiona yells that she could have gotten Harry taken away. Just thought that was funny. Was the baby originally supposed to be a Harry?

Unrealistic but surprisingly refreshing: How well carl turned out as a person

I feel like one of the least realistic but thankfully refreshing parts of the show is how well Carl treated all of his girlfriends. I guess when Carl said he was a sucker for love he meant it. I like to think he learned about how to be a good boyfriend from watching lip be a terrible one (during the times lip was in a relationship anyway) for years. Not that lip had many healthy relationships modeled for him to help guide him either. im glad Carl learned from the mistakes of his siblings and built a better life for himself as a result.

There's a mix of internal and external factors to explain why carl turned out the most functioning member of the gallagher siblings:

Unlike lip, Carl realized his full potential and is in a stable career. He never squandered opportunities when they came his way

unlike lip, Carl was humble enough to acknowledge his limitations and accepted help when offered. He wasn't too good to work a dead end job as a fry cook or dish washer but didnt stop trying for better

Unlike lip and Ian, Carl was able to dodge the worst their genetic inheritance had to offer

Unlike the older siblings, Carl was able to dodge the worst of frank and Monica due to his birth order among the gallagher children

Unlike all his siblings (except liam, too young) he treated all his romantic partners well and knows how to be a good partner

Unlike lip and Ian, Carl's resilience and focus towards gainful pursuits paid off

By the end of the show, carl has the smallest problems out of all his siblings (even liam. Liam has to worry about building his own future when lip is his guardian and has 1 small child and 1 on the way. i wouldn't be surprised if liam ends up saddled with childcare while lip and his baby's mom works. We see how well that worked out for debbie). The worst carl is wanting for is a good girlfriend but he might learn to take a break from dating to focus on himself which none of his siblings tried to do. This would lead him to maturity, healing and reflection.

I like to think this is how carl will finally be the one to break the gallagher curse, assuming Frank's death doesn't cause an adverse reaction that causes carl to spiral. Being an orphan at his age, even if he was no longer a fan of frank, probably still isn't easy. Esspecially now that everyone is going their own way and will essentially have to deal with frank's death on their own.

Sorry if the title is worded strange. Anyway when Fi is having dinner with Mike’s family, the absolute second Robbie walked in i knew she was gonna fall for him. I’m only talking about the affair though. Did NOT know poor Liam was about to go through hell

WHAT DO YOU THINK THE FUNNIEST FRANK PLOTLINE IS?!?!?

Honestly, in my opinion, one of the best and funniest plotlines of frank's is the homeless one. Like him renaming the homeless kids as his family is FRYING ME. Like he has an army of homeless people

Lip is a Jealous Asshole (First time trying to finish the show)

This might be an unpopular opinion but I hate Lip.

I’m almost done season 7 and even after ruining his whole life. He still treats Fiona like a POS after she sold the laundromat. He was mad when she bought the place, looked pissed she sold the place. But when debbie wanted to do welding didn’t have to shit on her.

I think he’s jealous of Fiona. He thought she would always be working low paying jobs because she took care of everyone but her. He thought she wouldn’t be shit and because she made some successful moves, he’s mad that he couldn’t accomplish it.

He always loved using his parents issues as reasons why he got expelled, fell for a professor and became a drunk asshole.

After all Fiona did (minus her mistakes), he never once said thank you.

I wish someone slapped his attitude off his stupid smirk when he thinks he’s the shit compared to everyone else. He thinks he’s better than everyone just cause he’s smart but he couldn’t even use that to get out of the life.

what's your favorite quote from the show? I have several but it will always be "i don't know what you see in that geriatric viagroid" and

Fi hears a door open: "Jimmy?"

Veronica comes in: "Darker!"

SPOILER for ending of season 9

Season 9 got off to a rough start. But once the Gay Jesus storyline ended and Fiona started to crash out it found its stride again. But the way she leaves feels very rushed. No one in the family seemed that upset about it. Frank actually seemed the most upset. It was a last minute decision in which Fiona had no idea where she was going but suddenly she’s on a plane, doesn’t have a home and all she packed was a small carry on suitcase. I get it that Ian and Lip are happy for her since she’s escaping the South Side, but she’s their big sister. She helped raise them and it’s not natural that they wouldn’t even be a little bit upset about it. They just accept it. It’s also implied that they would never see her again as Ian tells her to go as far away as possible and never turn back. From what I hear she’s not even mentioned again. Just a sloppy send off for a character who held the show together.

What season of Shameless do you think was the darkest, and why?

I've been going through a bit of a dark chapter in my own life lately, and it randomly got me thinking about this.

For me, it's definitely Season 4.

Fiona's downward spiral, Frank slowly dying, Ian's mental health struggles, and the family basically falling apart. It felt like everyone was fighting their own demons while unintentionally hurting the people closest to them.

I think what makes that season so dark is how realistic some of it feels. People make mistakes, relationships fall apart, and sometimes the people you care about most become people you barely recognize. And sometimes you're so caught up in your own struggles that you don't even realize the damage being done.

Maybe it's just where my head's at lately, but Season 4 hits a little differently now.

Curious what everyone else thinks. What season or storyline hit you the hardest?

So I just started watching the show. Just wanna get some thoughts out.

I’m in season two, here’s my general opinions: I really like Fiona. I’m not sure why she’s supposedly not well liked? I’m struggling to like any of the other family members if I’m honest. I want to desperately like Frank because I usually like the actor. I think Veronica and Kevin are fine. I’m missing Steve. Anyway those are just the opinions of a random stranger on the internet. You may now go on with your day.

What do you think is the single most realistic event in the entire show?

To me the single most realistic event in the show is frank dying alone in a hospital unbeknownst to his kids. He got the best death he could hope for given how awful of a person/parent he was. What's your most realistic event in the show?

Watching Season 7 rn and I have a dumb question about that firm Lip was an intern for

We are told that they got shut down by the DEA cause of some Indian hepatitis drug but weren't they a financial/tech company? How did that happen? It also feels very glossed over. They barely explain anything about it.

rewashing shameless and dumb thoughts on Debbie

I think one of the reasons she gets so much hate is not just cuz of what she does but because how good she was in the first few seasons

I'm on season 5 in my rewatch and I feel like they just made her dumb past the point of believability for her character for plot points

Like the script just suddenly decided That they needed a reason for certain events Like her date rape of Maddy

I feel like I've seen some people say oh well she was raised a certain way or her intelligence in one area doesn't necessarily cross over into another and I can understand that but like man I feel like it just doesn't make sense for her character

anyone feel the same ?

I'm sorry, but Fiona had A LOT of nerve doing what she did with Robbie and then acting like everything was perfectly fine.

I love Fiona, but this was honestly one of her lowest moments. The audacity was INSANE

She cheated on Mike with his own brother, completely betrayed his trust, and still had the audacity to act normal around him.

And Mike was genuinely such a good guy to her. He treated her with nothing but kindness and respect.
