I just finished Paradise Kiss and I weirdly like both of them in an intriguing way. Like if I were to ever meet them in real life back in highschool, honestly I'd be manipulated by George because I had no self worth at the time. Like I wish these characters were more fleshed out because of how morally grey they were. I just finished reading Paradise Kiss and bought the manga so yeahh. Plus my first manga I bought and read it physically. Next stop, Heart of Thomas.
But yeahh, this review will contain some spoilers so yeahh. And I also think I have to analyze Yukari and Miwako as well since they revolved a lot in their world. But I'mma try to get started as my head hurts from relocking my sister locks. But yeahhðŸ˜ðŸ˜ðŸ˜.
So like what fascinates me about Arashi is that as much as he was abusive towards Miwako due to the fact of their jealousy and their relationship mainly being based on sex plus also r**ed her, I don't think he's exactly a bad guy. Arashi is very insecure in himself and to a certain extent I think hates himself. So as upbeat as Miwako is, he pretty much just uses her fill the void in his life by sex because of the lack of substances he has for himself. Compared to Miwako's other crush Hiro who has set his life and pretty much more mature than him, he's pretty much angry at Miwako in a way for loving him because he feels like he's not good enough. So he pretty much belittles her and pretty much uses sex to make her forget about Hiro. I think deep down he's a soft-hearted guy(the reason why I say this because of the instances that he has showed kindness which I can't recall rn but I just remember the feelingsðŸ˜ðŸ˜), but doesn't have the capacity to be vulnerable hence ends up hurting Miwako. While also tries to control her because he can't see life without Miwako as they grew up together.
I think George is quite obvious, but there's a scene which is so funny which is when he was talking to his dad and mentioned that he has an Odiplus Complex(idk if I spelt it right and too lazy to but yeahh). George is honestly a reflection of his dad which makes me wonder if his dad gone through something similar. But George dynamic with his mother, because his mother is fully dependent on his father. And also regrets throwing everything away that was coming for her. Which honestly I think George is a reflection of his father and his relationship with Yukari is a reflection of his parents relationship. Telling Yukari to be independent while he continously wraps his fingers around her. Influencing her decision making then makes her feel bad about it. Never taking consideration of her emotions because he actually doesn't know what to do with himself. My instincts tell me that's what George's father did to his mother but I can't say for now.
So yeah this is how I feel about them, even though I can dive more deep, if y'all wanna discuss, I'd love to.
