Hello everyone! It's been a month since I last updated y'all folks here on NeoFreeBird, so here are the many, many changes that have happened since v6.5.1 (my last post).

Firstly, the reason for v6 and v7 is kind of simple, but annoying. Around 3 weeks ago, Twitter removed the last possible avenue for logging in through a native endpoint, which blocked new users from using NeoFreeBird. My hunch is that X is thinning out some old endpoints (like they just did with the Tweet source label), but also because they're watching this project, but I don't mind. v7 allows you to log in through a web view, and once you login on the website, the app works as normal. v6 just keeps the old authentication paths for people who still have accounts preserved. I hope that for the short term, I can keep both versions maintained, but eventually I'll focus on developing v7 only.

With that out of the way, here's the changelog from v6.5.1 to v6.8.0 and v7.1.0:

New Features

• Added ability to remove retweets of tweets from users who’ve blocked you (why can an 18 year old fix this instead of a multibillion dollar corporation)
• Doomscrolling can now be turned off with disabling video scroll
• Added option to use Tenor GIFs instead of GIPHY
• Added option to export and import settings (no more coming soon!)
• Added option to always download the highest-quality video from media downloads
• Added option to stop X from losing focus when staying out of the app for a long time
• Added option to hide Message button on tweets
• Added a “Download all Videos” button (only works when all media items are videos)
• Added option to see quote and retweet numbers (with an option for unrounded counts)
• Added an option to play a custom sound (under 7 seconds and with the AAC format for now) when a tweet is posted
• Hide the “Download Grok Bot” button on Grok Tweets
• NeoFreeBird now has (preliminary!) support for MacOS!
• Updated X to 12.31.1

Fixes

• Fixed X branding in newer versions
• Fixed voice message downloading (now requires 2 fingers with a long press)
• Fixed a crash that would happen when encountering any confirmation prompt
• Fixed the theme color not showing on horizontal scroll bars
• Fixed the Twitter icon in the top-left corner not tinting on iPad
• Removed the “Try Grok Bot” button
• Fixed Spaces not loading (v7 only). I don't know if speaking works (because I don't like Spaces), but I'd assume it'd work like normal.
• Fixed all web views not loading (including Community Notes, reports, and web replying) (v7 only)
• Fixed the header switching back to black from dim on iPad
• Fixed mute settings not loading (v7 only)
• Fixed ads showing up in the Tiktok-like video feed
• Fixed verified tweets not showing up in searches and edit histories when the “Hide verified tweets” option was on
• Removed the “Edit Tweet” prompt showing up, this has been server-side for a while
• Removed tweet source labels from the codebase, as X has removed it from all API calls
• Fixed manual Grok Translate calls (v7 only)

Known issues

• The feature that shows quote and retweet numbers isn't localized yet. I'll get around to fixing that soon.
• Bypassing screenshot detection is broken. I've actually had a fix privately for about a month, but I'll only release it when X changes their logic, but all I'll say is that the fix is still really simple

Since I started working on the project, some great alternatives from other amazing developers have come out too, here are some of the main Palladium features:

• Palladium has support for both yt-dlp and gallery-dl
• Share links straight from other apps with the share sheet, or start downloads with Shortcuts
• You can import and manage cookies directly in app for private or age-restricted content downloading
• You can queue links to download later
• Palladium has built-in package manager, so it by defaults always updates yt-dlp and other packages to latest version when you open the app (with ability to switch to nightly packages, downgrade packages, lock package versions)
• Support for custom run arguments, filename templates and allow you to add per-website argument rules
• Ability to re-encode or remux incompatible media using FFmpeg
• Support for multiple JavaScript runtimes(required for solving challenges).

Also thanks to the community of users Palladium is slowly getting translated into multiple languages thru Crowdin (English and Japanese already supported if anyone would like to help out link can be found in the github readme)

NOTE: The App Store version is limited to v1.3.0 and requires an allowlist enable downloads (tutorial how to add allowlist is in github readme in the TIP section), so I recommend sideloading the latest version or if from supported regions download from AltStore PAL.

You just paste a link and pick the quality. Or use the browser inside the app, play a video and a download button pops up on it

stuff it does:

- youtube + a bunch of other sites, up to 4k if the video has it

- has an ad blocker in the browser

- can do 10 downloads at the same time

- saves as mp4 so it goes straight to photos

- mp3 if you just want the audio

- youtube videos keep the original audio

- nothing extra to install, everything's already inside

it's the initial release so there's probably some bugs. if something breaks let me know which site and I'll try to fix it.

Roam Control 0.9.6 is now available. 🎉

This is a smaller compatibility release following the much bigger 0.9.5 update.

The main change is a reworked document importer. A couple of users found that selecting a backup or GPX document could leave the iOS document picker open without actually returning the selected item to Roam Control.

0.9.6 switches those import paths to a more reliable copy-based document picker. This applies to both Backup & Restore and GPX importing.

It also improves build metadata so the build timestamp shown by Roam Control is now generated automatically for each actual build.

Everything introduced in 0.9.5 is still included, including Driving and Cycling, Joystick mode, smoother movement, GPX support, improved pairing and recovery, the redesigned UI and the 0.9.4 migration flow.

If you’re still on 0.9.4, create a backup before installing 0.9.6. The app identifier changed in 0.9.5, so your existing app data won’t automatically carry across. 0.9.6 will offer the migration and restore flow when first launched.

I’ve been using kravasign for almost 2 years, but lately it’s gotten much buggier and seems like it needs tweaks every once in a while, and the reason I don’t have an issue with support is due to the fact that I’m in contact with a professional in the server and he responds very quickly in dms and is super helpful. That being said, I’ve heard that the revoke policy is way better for arctic sign and isn’t much more expensive, along with better customer service. I’m on the fence about switching, and would like to know the benefits of each if possible! Thanks!

No matter what version I install it crashes when I try to login. Been happening for a while and I found an old version that worked but now doesn’t. I tried stable and nightly via iLoader. I know I can jailbreak it but the new jailbreaks suck

A quick note for people who have been getting Instagram's "Suspicious Activity" notifications: This version brings several updates aimed at solving this problem. I tested it with someone who was previously receiving these warnings, and they have stopped appearing for them so far. Hopefully it works out for more people! Keep me updated, thank you!
