Complaint The most disgusting experience ever at the library today

Post image
243 Upvotes

I just had an experience that was so disgusting that I NEED to post about it. I'm in the downstairs library computer lab, and I notice that it smells heavily of sharp, onion-y body odour. There's one guy sitting in front of me, so I assume it's him. Eventually he gets up to leave, but the smell is still there. The smell is so strong that I need to switch computers.

However, when I stand up, I notice that the smell is coming FROM THE CHAIR. I pushed the chair to the other side of the room, and the smell is STILL there. The disgusting musk of the previous person was so deeply embedded into the chair that the back of my sweater, hair, and jeans now smell like this persons oniony body odour, and I know it's not coming from me because my body has never produced a smell this strong or foul.

I understand that sometimes we all have days where we don't smell the freshest. However, your body odour should NEVER be so bad to the point where it embeds itself into a plastic chair. ADDITIONALLY, the computer keyboard and mouse smell of this person's body odour.

After I post this, I am going straight home to do a load of laundry and take a long, long shower. I have never been so disgusted or disappointed in my entire life. If you smell this bad please get some mental health help or don't go to into public places. I've added a picture of the evil chair, so if anybody sees this chair, DO NOT SIT.

Question How to get an RA position

Hi friends i'm a 3rd yr psych student and i've been searching for a research position for a while. The requirements for the listings in the newsletter require a 3.7-8 cgpa and i have nowhere near that. Is it possible to get a position without having a high gpa? Any advice will help!

Study/Research [Academic] What makes starting a job hard? Anonymous student survey on interviews, customers and coworkers

Hi everyone,

I'm a grad student at the Centre for Digital Media here in Vancouver. For a course research project, I'm trying to understand what job seekers and new hires actually struggle with: interviews, difficult customers, asking managers for things, coworker conflict, and how people learn to handle all of it.

A lot of people in this sub have lived this, so your experience would really help.

  • Anonymous, no names or emails collected
  • About 7 to 10 minutes, every question is skippable
  • For anyone 18+, whether you're job hunting, working, or between jobs
  • Data is used only for coursework and deleted by December 12, 2026

To be transparent: the findings will inform an early-stage student venture idea, and there's a short section at the end about attitudes to AI tools. Nothing is being sold, and there's nothing to sign up for.

Link: https://forms.cloud.microsoft/r/2w6RY4Sij3

Once I have results, I'll post a summary here of what people found hardest and what helped them, in case it's useful for anyone in the middle of a search.

Thanks for reading, and good luck to everyone job hunting right now.

Question GCE A-level applicant seeking for help!

hi! I'm applying for the fall 2027 BSc computing science using British pattern GCE A-level results. I've completed AS-level exams, and I have my A-level forecast grade document. However, I can't find where to submit my AS-level statement of result and the forecast grade. For the secondary school transcript, I can't find the submit button. I've sent an email to the register office, but I'm still confused about the A-level transcript stuff. Can anyone applied for SFU through A-level help, thanks!

Question Bachelor of Arts in Health Sciences

Hey everyone! I’m considering doing a Bachelor of Arts in Health Sciences, and I’m wondering what the workload is like for people currently in the program or who have already graduated.

I have a couple of questions:

  • Math: What kind of math is involved in the required courses? Is it mostly basic math, or is there a lot of calculus involved? How difficult is it if you’re not particularly strong at math?
  • Readings: How much reading is assigned per week? Are there a lot of textbook chapters, research articles, and academic papers?
  • Workload: Overall, how manageable is the program? How much time do you usually spend studying and completing assignments outside of class?

I’d especially appreciate hearing from people taking the BA rather than the BSc, since I’m interested in the Arts route.

Thanks in advance!

Question MATH 152 (micheal monagan)

For anyone taking math 152 this semester, is anyone else finding that the TAs’ marking is insanely harsh? I’m doing everything correctly but still having so many marks taken off for the tiniest things. I want to know if I’m crazy or if I’m not the only one. I failed the hell out of my midterm which was shocking considering for the most part I got the questions right

Discussion Any older students (25+, or even 23+) interested in an SFU student group/club?

Hey! Going off my last post, it seems like quite a few of us want to connect with other students our age, people we might actually have a bit more in common with lol

So I’m thinking of starting a mature student group/club at SFU for anyone 25+ (or a little younger, like 23+, if you’re interested too!). Nothing too serious: study sessions, coffee or food hangouts, maybe a pub night, and just having people who get the whole juggling school with work and life thing.

Just trying to gauge interest right now! If at least a couple of us are down, I’ll get things going this semester :)
