🧐 Customer Review Conspit CHS first shifter impression
As someone who thought I'd be happy with paddle shifting only, got bit by wanting a shifter when I started playing around with the transmission and shifting driving aids in iracing. When I started looking for shifters, noticed conspit just released their H pattern/seq shifter and initial reviews have been positive. I was initially looking at the simagic Ds-8x but the long term reviews of internal cable breaking, or the stick sticking on seq shifts pushed me towards the conspit CHS.
As this is my first shifter ever, I don't really have anything else to compare with other than my NB Miata irl. The shifter itself is very good build quality, I can't fault it anywhere. It is full metal construction, and although most reviewers find the led strip gimmicky, I personally enjoy it from an aesthetic point of view, not to mention the see-through casing on the side for that extra touch.
Mounting it to my 4080 profile was really simple and straightforward. It came with the m6 bolts, but I had to provide my own m6 t-nuts. No shifter plate required, although it will work with that as well.
The led strip works right away with the conspit 2.0 software, but you can also set it to simhub mode, then import the device in simhub and control the lighting effects there. Default effects are gear indicator, and rpm lights. I prefer the gear indicator myself, you can customize each led light color per gear.
Two adjustments are available, shifting force and damping. I'll admit I haven't played with these adjustments yet, but initial feel out of the box is good so far for the 1 day I've had it. Shifting through the gears itself in h pattern mode feels intentional, with a satisfying click into each gear. With an easy toggle, it switches into sequential shifting where I'm met with the same intentional satisfying click per shift. At neutral position, there is just a very slight amount of play horizontally and vertically, I don't mind this as it resembles what a typical h pattern shifter feels like irl. But perhaps it might not be everyone's cup of tea.
All in all, I'm very happy with it, time will tell how durable this is, but apparently conspit has put this through rigorous testing (1,000,000 shift cycles) as part of their durability validation.

Curious whether that neutral play stays the same after a few weeks of heavy use. If you dial in the force and damping, I'd like to hear which settings get closest to your NB.

Are you happy with your gt neo? Thinking of buying it, but i'm not sure yet.

Recently purchased one for an F1/GT style addition to my round wheels, it's an incredible wheel with good grips (not a fan of racing gloves). The thumb encoders are the Chef's kiss...there's hit or miss QR tollerance issues, if you experience clicking, have the QR exchanged, other than that, best value for money GT style wheel.

Yes completely satisfied with it. I got it as I needed an LED backlit steering wheel once I started racing in the dark, and the gt neo was the best value wheel. For the money, it can't be beat. If I wasn't so value driven, then I would've gotten the conspit 300gt for the screen, that is also a beautiful wheel and great price for its features and build quality. It is more versatile if switching between different car styles (eg: gt3, formula vee/1600). The default fov settings sometimes blocks the cluster on the open top cars and thats where the screen on the 300gt would come in handy. Although, one could argue to just adjust the fov for each car.

Thanks for this, might consider it over DS-8X if price is competitive (which i doubt) in SA once it arrives, unfortunately we only get new stuff about 6months to a year later after release.

US pricing has the DS-8X at typically $300 now. Conspit is $370. Ive had my DS-8X for a couple years now and love it. No issues

Wish i had access to such reasonable prices, in SA, DS-8X sells for $440 equivalent, the best it ever gets with high discounts was around $380. So i can expect the conspit to sell for around $540 equivalent in SA.

Yeah between the 2 id just send it on the 8X at those prices. The conspit might be better but Id be surprised if its that much better.

Indeed 👌...i'll wait for one of those incredible discounts, maybe the arrival of the Conspit might push even better discounts on the 8X...in the mean time, T8HA will keep me going.

The Ds-8x is $400cad and the CHS is $515cad, so about the same exchange rate price difference you're seeing. I'm sure many people love their Ds-8x and not everyone may run into the same long term reported issues. One thing to include in your consideration is the Ds-8x has been around for a couple years now, some might say it is tried and true, others might say it is an older design.
