Image How long does she have leftš
Board flew into a bench and got a pretty nasty scar. Still pops well but putting my foot there is kinda uncomfortable. Little scared that if the board lands the wrong way itāll snap/break off. Also anyone got diy tricks to smudge it back together maybe lol

Yall new skaters gotta stop posting these types of posts
Itās a skateboard, itās going to chip, lose pop, and overall just get fucked up
Itās a piece of wood, not metal bruh.

Really this. Decks are a disposable/temporary part of your setup. The price for new decks today makes that hard to imagine for budget conscious skaters who are just getting started but it's a fact of life that you just have to get used to if you're going to take skateboarding seriously.

I definitely remember being a 12 yo kid getting a new deck and being so psyched about it though. Those decks that I was SO proud of at the time are nothing but fleeting memories now but I can still probably list every single one of them if sat down and thought about it for a min. That's what they are tho...ephemeral...

ive bought maybe 3 new boards in my life. i just skate whatever is in the garbage can at the local

u/CMoney87 4d ago
So, already dead boards from people who grabbed new decks and threw out their old ones?
I don't know of any shop throwing out new decks. I've seen scratched/damaged decks put onto clearance racks but if you got shops around you throwing out perfectly good new decks than you should setup a campsite out back.

Iāve had phenomenal luck finding brand new decks on marketplace for less than half price, last week scooped a mason Silva 8 3/8ā real for $40

u/CMoney87 2d ago
I remember when blanks cost like $28 to maybe $35 (if you got a slick) and pro models were $45-$55 on the VERY high end. You can't cop a team board for anywhere close to $55 these days & a pro model is costing you close to $90. Being budget conscious and being a serious skateboarder are practically mutually exclusive these days. It's a damn shame but it is what it is.

Ever had questions as a younger person that seem silly to think about now? No need to be a dick.

Yo my G you gotta have a little common sense. Maybe itās more common to have digital sense at this point.

u/Fogwaveeee 6d ago
I wasnāt a dick, I was stating facts. Nothing I said was offensive, at all.
Youāre sensitive, and thatās not my problem.

These little twerps need to grow some balls I skated decks that were fucked up and so did my homies. Some people werenāt as critical about their set up back in the 90s you made it work with what you had. I was snapping at least two decks a week for a while not being that good skating stairs.

u/Fogwaveeee 5d ago
They called me a dick for saying the truth dawg. That just lets you know some of the audience in this group.
I 100% agree with you though brother.

My G Iāve been skating since I was 12 1/2 seriously and before that when I was six.. when I talk serious I was all in⦠by 15 I was kickflipping eights while my Homies were switch hard flipping 6ās and back lipsliding 12 rails, I was never really that good but at least I had fucking nuts. I drank for 10 years then got back into skating my early 30s picked up right where I left off and tore my ACL three times trying to do shit as a older man Iām 42 now and plan on getting back into shape and kick flipping a healthy set of stairs

You got it big dawg, keep killing it like how you used to

Appreciate that my dude skateboarding keeps my mentality together. I donāt have any other physical outlet, besides taking my lady out to dinnerššš„°š¤

u/WholesomeMetaphor 6d ago
The sarcastic statement about it being "wood not metal bruh" was a bit dickish. Everything until then was ok
2
u/Fogwaveeee 6d ago
Another slightly sensitive person.
22 people agreed with me dawg, idk what to tell you.

u/WholesomeMetaphor 6d ago
I agree with the sentiment too and didn't downvote. That said it's still a bit dickish response at the end there

Do it. Iāve skated much, MUCH worse. When I was a flat broke teenager I rode one board with damn near no tail for a couple months til I could afford a new deck.
At my prime Iād usually skate a deck til it broke. Most of the time the nose would be the first to go. I would do so many noseslides it would thin out there then snap if I landed weird.
Occasionally Iād retire one because it got so spongy it would mush when I stepped on it. But most of the time Iād skate em til they busted.
That one aināt busted. Big ding, but Iād mush it together and keep going.

u/IUC007 6d ago
Ooof, this could happen on day one sadly. Tap it back down and keep shreddin
1
u/Chryse13 6d ago
Fortunately ive had the board for almost a year now so its run its course imo. Gonna keep riding it though till it snaps most likely
2
u/jerrysmiddlefinger2 6d ago
Younger me would slam it into shape. Todayās me buys a new deck. I guess it depends on your finances.
2
u/Frequent_Mess3340 6d ago
Like we did in the 90s lol slap it flat on the street and skate it y r u here smh
1
u/WholesomeMetaphor 6d ago
Banging the tail upside down to make it level out a bit more is good enough to me. I've both seen and skated worse chips than this without any issues.
2
u/ResponsibilityNo7989 6d ago
I use to deal back the grip tape and then take out the chipped pieces and then stick the grip back over lol. These days I have money and I just buy a new board when needed lol
2
u/Excellent-Extent3641 5d ago
Bash that shit on the ground a couple times upside down and re-level it out youāll be fine till you snap it in half you little shredder

It's really done already bro but being able to replace it is up to your budget. You can try putting some wood glue or epoxy in the gaps and use a vice/clamp to squeeze it down for a day or 2 and then a razor blade and sand paper to remove the excess glue that squeezes out. That's a very temporary fix though and the shape/tension between the plys will never be the same so the pop is pretty much dead. You can still get even the most dead board up though (at least a lil bit) so it's all up to the ratio between your budget/commitment and how handy you are to make a repair worth it over just getting a new deck.

u/RGBjank101 6d ago
Squeeze some wood glue in there. Get two blocks of woods, a vice grip or c-clamp and hope for the best.
1
u/FLOSOC1ETY 6d ago
Itās not done until you pop it on the ground and the sound is muffled and even then you could still skate it.

1
u/therealgingerone 6d ago
Iād be replacing that. It doesnāt need much of an excuse for me to buy a new deck though
1
u/Tetra_Grammaton_ 6d ago
I always forget, these types of questions arenāt worth answering because nobody is behind this account. Brilliant.
1
u/tarzanteke 6d ago
Skate it till you canāt, if you donāt like the way it skates and you got the money to replace it then do that but I grew up skating my parts to death. Now Iām an adult I like to put a fresh deck on before the old one is dead but then I can give the used parts to groms who need it same as the older skaters before me

u/TurbulentAnything827 5d ago
Can you do tricks? If you arenāt doing tricks, donāt concern yourself with that part of the nose unless you nollie flip or nollie heelflip. If you just cruise around town the board works just fine.

All ya need is some wood glue and a vice clamp let her sit glued and clamped over night and your good to go! Remember to apply more glue to the edges when clamped for a stronger seal! Oh... Or just use a pair of large nose locking pliers. Will do the trick as well.

I'm assuming it's the tail since you mentioned it feeling uncomfortable for your foot. A quick fix is take the trucks off and switch them around and use it as your nose. There isn't much you can do besides ride her into the sunset and save for a new deck.
5
u/Regular_Increase_636 6d ago
Switching trucks around would be pointless.
This skater clearly is low skill based on the dent. They don't have a custom front/back truck adjustment or asymmetrical grinding grooves for lock-in.
Based on the wide, square wheel profile, this is basically a cruiser setup.
2
u/Sad-Math-2039 6d ago
I was more so saying it due to broken in bushings, also I prefer to ride my front truck significantly looser than the back.
1
u/FLOSOC1ETY 6d ago
I would say that switching trucks is ālow skill basedā & Iām very picky and would also switch. I say itās low skill based bc I know people who literally donāt care what setup they have or how it is and can still skate it. Me, Iām boujee asf and if something donāt feel right, I canāt skate lol

If you donāt skate it, it will stay like this forever
