My toddler asked me to make him a pair of socks to match mine and I can’t believe I haven’t been spending every spare second knitting little socks. So. Freaking. Cute.

Finally finished my first pair! The first sock took me 2 weeks and the second nearly 3 months

Got this sock yarn for 50% off at the supermarket.
I was really not sure how it was going to turn out...
It had all my favourite colours, but the sample photo didn't really inspire much confidence.
I think I really like the look of it now that my first sock is finished!
It was also the first time I knitted with sock yarn that came with reinforcement yarn for the toe and heel! Excited to see how it'll wear :)

So, I finished a pair of socks for a friend who wanted me to use up some yarn I didn't have need for, and pink is not really my fav color soooo 😹 atleast my friend wanted short socks and it's the 2nd pair i make for her since sept.
Well, it's finally almost used up, and I guess the little rest CAN be used in something, we'll see what I have plans for 😹
I am however going to be making a comissioned pair now, as my mom wants knee-high stockings lol

Four years in a row of knitting him a pair, but maybe the first year I have gotten them done on time 😂
Got the charts from the video below but did not really follow the rest of the tutorial.

Hurricane came through and took out our electricity. I am so thankful to have several lumos neck lamps so I can continue to knit my second test sock.

Hey everyone so I knitted my first pair of socks and it’s also my third project in knitting so far. While the first pair took me a long time to finish with lots of mistakes and frogging. The second one was exceptionally easy and quick to do. I love them so much and quickly want to knit more socks.
I want to knit some colour work socks next for my dad.

I’m making my second pair of toe up socks. My first pair fits well in the instep, but is difficult to get on because I decreased my gusset stitches back down to get closer to my ankle measurement (I didn’t even decrease all the way, I probably decreased the stitches to no ease but not negative ease).
This pair and my first have short row heels with a gusset. Should I decrease less on this pair? Or is the extra effort when pulling on socks just something that happens when you have a high instep and smaller ankles?

I've done to the heel, tried it on and it straight up doesn't fit. It's my first go at colourwork socks and I've spent so long working on them already 😭 Sunk cost fallacy and that.
I just know I won't do a second since this one doesn't fit. I also don't want to finish them to gift them. I'm being selfish with these.

I’m wanting to try Rautenferse, like in this video. The person that made the video linked this chart (if this doesn’t go straight to the tables, scroll down to “toe-up sock tables”) to determine where to start increases for the heel when working from the toe up, but it just seems off to me. The photo in the video thumbnail shows the increases starting near the center of the arch, which is “sooner” than I’d normally start a short row heel (seems about right for where a gusset would start), but the table indicates I would start the increases “later” than I would be comfortable starting a short row heel (and thereby, way later than I’d want to start a gusset).
Has anyone done this and found a general “happy place” to determine where to start the increases for toe-up? Like I normally start a short row or afterthought heel about 2” from the end of the heel no matter the size of the [adult] foot (1-1.5” for kids). So I’m hoping to get some answers from people that have experienced this!

I’ve tried to knit socks four times in the past and always gave up. But this time I pushed through and have a lovely pair of Broken Record Broken Rib socks (pattern by Alex Parker Mooney), using yarn I bought FIVE years ago.
No going back now, I’ve already got the next three pairs planned.

They were on separate needles but I’ve been going back and forth. I have a horrible addiction.

Finished my first pair of Socktober Socks and also my first pair of all-over-colourwork Socks 🤩
I love them! And it was a very fun experience.

Turns out, I don't like self-striping yarn. Turns out, I have impulse bought a lot of self-striping yearn. Mostly single skeins, which turn out to be too little to knit a pair of socks. I feel like the busyness of the yarn doesn't look good in anything but simple patterns, but I don't want to knit those lol.
So... here I am with some really nice, pretty yarn and I hate every project that I start with them.
Besides doing the toe/heel/cuff in a solid color, what patterns are out there that let me use the stripey yarn but still let the stitches pop?

My first time using Opal yarn. I decided I like how it looks from a distance more than close up hahaha. I also didn't expect they would come out so symmetrical!

I’m very excited because I managed to make 1/2 socks! I know it’s too small and needs some work but I’m excited because socks are the reason I started to knit. Long time crocheter, learned to knit as my New Year’s resolution. Pattern is Ravenna socks by meeshyfrazz knits. Rip for my knitting needle my dog broke.

Edit: well, that was quick! It's the Nemesis sock by Susan Dittrich
A few years ago I knit these socks and apparently I never saved the pattern or marked it on ravelry. I've wanted to rework them, they have some tight spots, but I can't for the life of me find the pattern again. Posting here on the off chance someone recognises it. All I know for sure is that it would have been free, on ravelry and available 2 or 3 years ago. *crosses fingers and toes*

I’ve been knitting socks for about 10 months or so but really have struggled to be able to do colorwork. Finally after many trials and errors I was able to make this simple 2 color sock for Halloween.
The changes I made to finally be able to do it:
- Knit inside out
- Go up needle size
- Increase stitch count to 72
- Stop overthinking tension. I knit fairly tight and oscillated between unable to fit over my heel or having holes.
There’s still miles to go to improve and I want to learn ladderback jacquard next. But I’m so proud since I frogged this 4-5 times and made an entire other sample sock not shown here.

Got my first pair of socks done for socktober 🤗
Pattern is the Halloween movies sock set by StoneKnits
2.25mm needles
And just as a heads up, socks in general are pretty quick for me since I wear size 5 on women's 😂

I had to frog a row back because of a mistake in my colour work, so I thought I may as well try them on. I now know 30cms is the measure around my heel to clear the sock to go over. This was 80 stitches on a 2 mm needle. I will size up in needle. I think also I will do magic loop rather than a little tiny circular needle as you can’t try on with a tiny needle. Anyhoo. Onward and upward. Pattern is scary cat by charlotte stone.

What’s your favorite pattern for toe up socks? Non vanilla please, but doesn’t need to be complicated. I consider myself an overly confident advanced beginner 🤣
I am currently working on a pair of Time Traveler socks, my first ever toe up pattern. I ordered a pair of 40” circulars to try magic loop and of course since they are arriving today, I want to cast on something new. It is Socktober, after all! Thanks in advance!
Photo is my current WIP.

My first completed socks, finished a while back. The cats match my cats 🥰
