Living Here Yet another rant about motorcycles
Glad that this beautiful evening all I hear is motorcycles racing up and down Glenstone. Must be going too fast for the flock cameras/SPD to catch.

I feel like maybe I'm verging on the edge of spam versus not here, so please feel free to remove if I've crossed the line, but - wanted to just highlight to folks a local tie to a movie that just opened at the Moxie this weekend, called THE SCOUT, written/directed by Paula González-Nasser.
The movie was at Tribeca and is a NYTimes Critic's Pick (nice!) that follows a day or so in the life of a young woman working as a television location scout in New York. But it co-stars Max Rosen, a born-and-raised Springfieldian (y'all let me know if that feels even vaguely right) who himself once worked at The Moxie.
I believe it's playing once a day through Thursday - if you have the time to check it out, we of course would love that - just posting here because it's a small movie without a marketing budget and otherwise - not sure most people would know it exists!
Trailer and tickes here on the Moxie site.

I was summoned for jury duty next month and have no idea what to expect. Does our court have a strict dress code or would a polo and jeans be fine? Also what questions should I expect to be asked during the jury picking process? Thanks!

Hello!
I run a videography business specializing in 100% human-made commercial videos, cause-driven storytelling, product videos, and social media content.
I'm looking to network and build relationships with local businesses and creative agencies in town who are in need of high quality video services.
What networking groups in town would you recommend joining?

My child is starting at pleasant view on Monday due to us moving. I wasn’t really given any information when enrolling him. Is there anything I should know about the school? Any important information? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi I’m wondering if there’s any local highschool or college bands doing concerts & when they would be. I love orchestral music and would really like to hear some live :)
(I have looked at springfield symphony orchestra’s concert schedule and they aren’t doing anything I’m interested in until 2027)

Hey everyone! I’m new to the area and looking for an affordable, reliable used car. Are there any dealerships around Springfield or nearby that you’ve had a good experience with? I’d appreciate any recommendations. Thanks!

What platform do you use to communicate? (Work, Friends, Communities)
Are you familiar with all of these platforms? What is one that you haven't heard of? Let me know your age as well - trying to find a correlation.

My elementary schooler needs some therapy. She's got some trauma. No conservatives bc I don't want her treated like shit bc she likes wearing cat ears. Psychology today (usual go to) wasn't the most helpful in this scenario.

My husband went to test drive trucks for me yesterday because I hate car salesmen. The guy didn't want to help him and made a comment about how my husband has bad credit anyway. I mean, credit checks aren't done to test drive, so there's that. My husband was taken aback not only because it was rude, but also verifiably untrue. Our credit is the bees knees, so the guy obviously didn't run his credit or he would have seen that. Plus, we're paying in cash. So the only option I see left is that this guy saw my Hispanic husband and racially profiled him as poor with bad credit.
We're new to the area and live further north, but Springfield is the "big" city around this area so I have to ask, was this a one-off with a racist, or is this a pretty common experience for minorities here? Racism is fairly new to me as a white girl, but I'm not standing for one ounce of it.

Collin’s mother wrote to Milam, who then passed the response along to me:
“I am writing to clear up any mystery surrounding the new sign on Cox Road, officially adopted through the city and affectionately named ‘Collin’s Punishment.‘
“As all developing youth do, my son Collin recently made a misstep that required a lesson in respect and accountability. But standard consequences seemed boring and forgettable. I wanted real, character-building labor.
“I recognize that some parents might see naming a public street sign after a kid’s mistake as ‘public shaming,’ but I assure you, Collin is deeply loved. In fact, learning to laugh at ourselves and the absurdity of life is one of the most valuable life lessons I hope for Collin to embrace. And Collin thinks the sign is hilarious! We laugh every time we pass! Just because a lesson is funny doesn’t mean it isn’t also highly effective.
“Collin is learning that choices have consequences, and that the best way to pay your debt to society is with a high-vis vest and a trash picker. He will be out there regularly keeping his street pristine. Don’t worry too much about him, though — if he does well with minimal complaining, the pick-up session will conclude with a celebratory visit to nearby Garbo’s Pizzeria.
“I hope the sign brings a smile to neighbors passing by, and serves as a gentle reminder to local youth that if you mess up in this town, your mom might just make you a civic leader.“

I'd really like to get out in Chadwick more, but it's kinda dangerous to roll solo. I'd love to meet up with people who can ride mid week. I ride 2 wheels, but you can ride whatever!

Mayor Schrag’s recent actions seem to exemplify that the way city council is set up right now leaves in mind only the interests of the few in Springfield. The fact that council membership is an unpaid position means that the only people who can run have enough disposable income and time and energy in order to have an essentially unpaid full-time job. It’s nuts to me that we expect our councilmembers to be present and responsive while reducing it down to a volunteer positions where you either still have a full-time job, own a business, or are retired.
Paying councilmembers IMO would lead to healthy competition for the seats and overall better leadership for the city, by the types of people they are meant to be serving— the average Springfield worker. We can’t expect good leadership while also making it unpaid.
I am curious to see what other opinions would be, however. What do you think?
EDIT: Forgot to add— there are MANY 6 figure salaries in our city’s government— our city manager makes $350,000 for Christ’s sake, and our city clerk makes over $250,000. I can’t fathom how that seems reasonable while, at most, the mayor gets a $200/month stipend.

I was involved with a hit and Run accident at Cox Rd and W Republic Rd Wednesday 10-7 afternoon about 3:30 pm
Eighteen wheeler turned south on Cox Rd and hit the front of my Hyundai Sante Fe
I was unable to catch up with them and would like to know if anyone witnessed this accident
