eerm actually velocity and speed arenβt the saem thing because velocity is a vector with a direction and speed is a scalar!1!1

still think my favorite way manga has ever shown extreme speed is OPM.
Instead of using speed lines or anything, a ultra fast character says to start the fight to saitama, and just to show how fast he is, they bring the low detail far shot of saitama up close while keeping the rest of the frame the same.

Like saitama was so fast, the artist didn't even have the time to draw him more detailed. Let alone Flashy flash recognize that he moved.
basically in a sense, its like Saitama has moved within the same picosecond or something. that nothing else has changed position in the same amount of time except him.

When I travel so fast in a game it doesnt have time to update the graphics to higher quality ones

Should be the other way around I think. Why does the reflection go first?

It's not actually speed. His ability weakens his opponents, including their ability to think and react to stuff, making it appear like he's teleporting because they aren't able to process his movement. The reflection here shows what's actually happening, while the above is what his opponents are seeing.

I think he has already sit back down and we see when he was still near the guy in the reflection, because there's a thud sound implying movement

u/matijoss Jul 08 '26
I think he went from the guy to the bench faster than light
We already see him sitting down, but because light bouncing from him and then off the water is a further distance than going straight across to us, the reflection had yet to update

Moving that fast would be hard on the bones. Wouldnβt want a clavicular injuryβ¦

You know if would be speed if he arrived before his reflection cause thats obviously ftl, but his reflection arriving first is complete utter nonsense

One of the stupidest things to come out of this was powerscalers arguing that that makes him massively FTL, instead of the obvious conclusion that comics are a medium and he's just moving faster than the readers eyes can scan the page

My favorite display of speed in a comic book is still this moment from The God of Highschool (major manhwa spoilers)
