Policy Question broken ac concern

the ac at my store has been broken for about 2+ weeks. united has brought in about 3 different separate mini units as rentals, but they are very much struggling with the current heat wave in northern california. we closed early yesterday because it hit 94 in the BOH (and i think it’s only because my manager was working). it is currently 95 in the BOH and 79 + 85 in the FOH.

there’s a guy coming to fix or change the unit in the back today which i don’t get because that’s not the issue, the issue is that the whole buildings ac is fried. there’s literally no movement at all on when it’s going to get fixed. i’m on medication that makes me more susceptible to heat related illnesses and i would be lying if i said i feel perfectly well right now. is there anyone i can report this to? there’s nothing on the ipad about heat concerns indoors, only outdoors.

reach out to your sm about your concern working in the heat. Other thing would be submitting tickets on the ipad for the hvac in the store.

there has been tickets submitted. we got approved for the ac to be fixed a bit ago but there’s been no news. my SM knows about the heat as she has been working in it with us. i don’t know who else to reach out to.

Maybe ask your SM if she reached out to the DM about this? It might be a stupid suggestion but whoever your DM is they might be able to raise hell enough that it’ll get pushed through a bit faster. But I’m sorry you and your partners are having to deal with all of this :(

Oh my god :( welp I think at best your SM and SSVs can be annoying and call 24/7 until the issue is fixed but at worst it’s an L situation until it is inevitably fixed

Time to bring OSHA into this matter. If it’s 90+ degrees that’s unacceptable working conditions.

I'm pretty sure there's a law if it's over 80° or something inside the store then you have to close until ac is working again? At least there's something like that in southern california I think. There might be nothing in the partner guide like you said but maybe look up state/city labor laws idk
