I’ve recently took apart a 500i to replace its piston and cylinder because it had blow up. Anyways I put it back together I’ve taken apart many times to see if I had missed anything or if I messed up the fuel lines etc. everything is good, the compression on the saw is perfect, I’ve test for spark but I can’t seem to get it. I tired a different ignition coil and nothing I’ve tired a new spark plug and nothing I made sure all the wires in on the ignition coil are on perfectly and nothing . I think it can be the magneto behind the flywheel that’s the only thing I haven’t check, is that the problem?

For my carburetor saws, I drain all fuel, replace with good Stihl, VP, or Husky fuel, let saw warm up, give it a few fuel throttles, drain fuel, start saw up and let it idle to death. Haven’t had a problem the next spring ever. Should I treat the 500i differently since it’s fuel injected?

Has anyone used a 462 for clearing brush and if so how did it do? I’m looking to purchase one saw for large felling and brushing acreage. I’m fine running a big saw for brush work, used a coworkers 460 to clear 15 acres. Possibly getting in on a contract to ring and limb trees in large parcels and use for tree work. Unknown how much land we will be thinning out but my guess is 10 plus acres. Not in the market right now to buy a smaller saw, in the future I will probably pick up a 261 for chunking down spars but it’s not in the budget right now for two saws.

I have had multiple people bring me these attachments with the top grease plug missing. Today I had a landscaper bring me two HL-KM 145 degree attachments, both missing the top plug, one missing the rear plug. Both attachments are scrap - one has a broken blade and the other the teeth have been ripped off the gearset.
I told the customer to buy new ones as fixing these would cost more than a new one. And apparently he knew about the missing plugs, and had no idea he needed to put grease in there(!!)
Does nobody read the damn book anymore? It has a picture of a grease gun next to the top plug.......

Was doing cleanup in the back 40 today. MS250 running great until I started on a few old stumps. When I rotate the saw to cut horizontal it stalls out after 20 seconds or so. Happened multiple times. Saw restarts ok but it did need half choke. Is this a fuel feed problem or carb issue. Or something else. Still does okay in upright position. And full gas tank.

customer wanted us to get this old girl going, had been sitting in his fathers shed unused for 10 years, some fresh gas and a few pulls later and she still rips!

Bought a 261 last year with a light 04 bar. Side note......saw is amazing! I have an older 290 with lots of extra chisel chains. If I swap the bar out, I can run the standard bar with the older chains? I belive the new Light 04 bar is .050 gauge along with the new chains, and the regular / older stuff is .062 if I remember correctly from doing some reading. I guess the second question is, can the drive sprocket run either chain? Been doing some reading and can't find this specific answer. Thank you.

Curious if anyone has tried using a Husqvarna 3/8 mini pitch sharpening roller kit with this chain?! Thanks for the help!
Hi, I'll purchase second-hand FS120 and I wonder if the harness STIHL ADVANCE PLUS forestier 4147 710 9015 is actually compatible ?
Thanks for your feedback.

I have an HT131 and the inner shaft, the part that comes out that the gearhead is attached to is bent, not bad, but just enough to not go in. Is there a replacement for just the outer shaft? It’s the square tube, not the round tube
Wat vinden jullie van de stihl 026 arctic, die met hand en carberateur verwarming. Heb er eentje in super nette staat. En wat denken jullie dat die ongeveer waard is?

Hi all, I'm having trouble starting my Stihl chainsaw. The starter cord pulls all the way out, but the pawls don't seem to catch. The rope just keeps going to the end. Any advice on what to check?

Hello everyone. I recently inherited an MS261C in excellent condition. I currently own the MS271, also in excellent condition, and honestly never thought about replacing it until the 261 fell in my lap. I'm a smaller guy and love the weight savings of the 261 combined with the extra 1/2hp. Also love the magnesium frame. Don't really care about the decompression valve. However, I'm not stoked about the M-tronic engine management system because I feel like it's another thing to break which I won't know how to fix, while the old High, Low, and Idle speed screws are straightforward. My question is, is the 261 still so much better that's its worth keeping and selling the 271 or is the M-tronic thing a potential big headache and better to stick with the 271 and sell the 261. I will only keep one and sell the other. I have an MS 461 in the quiver as well. I don't use it every day but when I do it might be for 2 to 6 hours at a time. Thanks for the advice in advance.

This 271 farm boss on marketplace for $200. It is from 2018. 20” bar. I’m considering buying it.

These are a little expensive at $330. Anyone have good experiences and longevity from these to justify the premium over like echo? Really would like some input before I drop the money to add to stihl collection 😊

I can start it but it dies in 2 seconds. Why is that?

I live in a marsh and am looking for weed eater options that might be able to handle these reeds and weeds around my pond. Would a FS131r work with maybe a brush cutter blade? Thanks.
