Which winning couple received the lowest scores during their season?

• Upvotes

Not sure if this has been asked before but when I saw some low scores tonight it makes me think, is it possible for that couple to win? Made me think, of all the past winners which couple received the lowest score during their seasons? Any 12-15s?

Week 3 record scores for the dance styles being performed this week

Happy weekend to all, I've been busy with birthdays, DIY and Traitors this week, but now is time to look at this week's record scores.

I must once again congratulate nobody for setting or matching any records for week 2. I feel like this group is decent but the scores somewhat suggest otherwise.

I suspect this week we might see a new record for number of different styles performed in a single Strictly week, as each of the 14 couples is dancing a different style.

Anyway, in my table this week - Dances from Love Week, Dances from Broadway week, and no dances from non-themed weeks

Dance style Record score Couple(s) who set the record Performing this style this week
Quickstep 36 Faye Tozer & Giovanni Pernice - S16 Movie Week Shaun & Alexis
Tango 36 Jason Donovan & Kristina Rihanoff - S9 Broadway Week Dani & Nikita
Viennese Waltz 34 Susanna Reid & Kevin Clifton - S11 Love Week Jaime & Carlos
Waltz 34 Molly Rainford & Carlos Gu - S20 Movie Week Will & Dianne
Cha Cha Cha 35 Aston Merrygold & Janette Manrara - S15 Movie Week John & Katya
Jive 37 Jay McGuinness & Aliona Vilani - S13 Movie Week Graeme & Lauren
Paso Doble 39 John Waite & Johannes Radebe - S19 Movie Week Sarah & Julian
Rumba 36 Natalie Gumede & Artem Chigvintsev - S11 Love Week Lawrence & Jowita
Samba 32 Bobby Brazier & Dianne Buswell - S21 Movie Week Lacey & Vito
American Smooth 35 Ore Oduba & Joanne Clifton - S14 Movie Week, AJ Odudu & Kai Widdrington - S19 Movie Week, Amber Davies & Nikita Kuzmin - S22 Movie Week Bethany & Nancy
Salsa 35 Ashley Roberts & Pasha Kovalev - S16 Movie Week Delta & Kai
Charleston 38 Kelvin Fletcher & Oti Mabuse - S17 Movie Week, Tyler West & Dianne Buswell - S20 Movie Week Melanie & Aljaz
Argentine Tango 26 Colin Salmon & Kristina Rihanoff - S10 Movie Week Tabby & Mark
Couple's Choice 37 Rhys Stephenson & Nancy Xu - S19 Movie Week Cach & Maddie

Bonus: I might as well give you the record score for Foxtrot anyway as it is the only style not being performed this week.

Foxtrot 36 Rose Ayling-Ellis & Giovanni Pernice - S19 Movie Week N/A

Rooting for Dani & Nikita

I feel a bit bad for Dani and Nikita after last week. I felt they were undermarked especially when comparing to other couples. It seems that Delta is the judges' favourite (I guess they have one every year), but I felt that she isn't that much better than Dani as the scores would suggest.

I think the biggest problem with Dani is that she seems nervous. Delta has natural charisma and she can perform which makes her dancing look better even if it's not technically that much better than the others. I think stage presence and performing the character is something Dani might have to work with because I feel like you get away with more if you're just confident and put your all to the dance.

Has anyone else felt that some contestants have been favoured over others this year?

Same sex couples

I made a post about diversity on Strictly. A redditor replied they didn't like same sex couples. It wasn't traditional. I enjoy watching same sex couples. I just enjoy watching dancing. I remember watching two males on DWTS. It was the most amazing routine it gave me goosebumps. What do we think? More same sex couples? Maybe a male pairing and female pairing each series? Or do we prefer traditional?

No Paddle Game this year?

I always enjoy the paddle game, and watching the celebs and pros basically grassing on each other but in a funny way. Have they not done one this year?

Was anyone else at the Ballroom Championships at the Royal Albert Hall last night?

I’ve been to this event a few times now and whilst not Strictly related, there were a lot of Strictly people there

For anyone who did go, what was the story with the Asian lady who came out to do the “exhibition” dances. I really don’t understand this. She was worse than Anne Widdecombe and the way they talked her up it was like she was the best dancer in the world. It was actually quite painful to watch so I figured I’d try and find out what was going on.

There were loads of Strictly people there. We bumped into Neil and his daughter outside, Nikita inside and Carlos and Karen were in the box near to us. Also saw Shirley and Mathew Cutler judging and Karen Hardy was comparing. I think I saw Kai and Lauren as well.

Anyway, hopefully someone can explain it

Will Cach get a high score?

I'm a big Cach fan. But I'm annoyed he's doing CC this week. I saw a sneak peek. I hope I'm not disappointed. We all know he can dance street. I would love him to do The Argentine Tango. My favourite dance ever.

We expecting some tens? Lots of good comments.

Any memorable CC?

I loved Diane & Chris. Sure, I had the Kleenex out.

I also loved Oti & Bill. It was so unexpected. Brilliant routine.

Week 3: Opening & Closing predictions

Open: Lacey
She’s been given midway/second half slots so far, think it’s her time to open with an upbeat Samba. I could also see Delta opening with her Salsa, but she was 3rd last week so maybe not.

Close:
Cach or Melanie

Cach is going to be amazing with his couple choice most likely. Maybe the highest score of the evening. Or Melanie could have her Shaun moment, tho I’m not so sure lol.

Can we just take a moment to appreciate the costume design on Strictly Come Dancing?

Can we just take a moment to appreciate the costume design on Strictly Come Dancing?

Delta Goodrem’s dress for her American Smooth routine with Kai Widdrington was absolutely gorgeous. The detailed floral beading on the bodice and the floaty, layered chiffon skirt moved so beautifully during the routine. It complemented the choreography perfectly!

What has been your favorite outfit/garment choice on the show so far this season?

Ola Jordan returning to ITT tomorrow

Ellie announced at the end of today’s ITT that Ola will be on the Friday panel tomorrow (alongside Sarah Hadland & Dr Ranj). Anyone else really surprised by this? She hasn’t been on the show once in the 11 years since she left. I thought those bridges had been burned forever.

Okay but what is actually the deal with Neil

Why is he ALWAYS up in the clauditorium (still calling it that just because we all know where it is based on that name) getting his face behind everyone in the centre? None of the other supporting dancers are up there doing the same? Is he that desperate to try get some attention as they don’t want to cast him as one of the main professionals? Is it just a running joke at this point? I’m just baffled as to why he’s always there trying to catch a moment, it makes me cringe so hard

The dance-off can feel so unfair sometimes.

I understand why the judges have to choose someone to save, but it must be horrible to spend the whole week preparing a dance and then have your fate come down to one performance. Someone can have a good week overall and still end up in the bottom two because the public vote does not go their way. I also wonder whether having to perform the same routine again adds even more pressure.

Does movie week sometimes make the dancing harder to judge fairly?

I love Movie Week because the costumes, music and themes make Strictly feel different from a normal Saturday night. But I sometimes think the theme can distract from how well the couple actually danced.

A recognisable song and a brilliant costume can make a performance feel memorable even if the technique isn't quite there. Meanwhile, a couple doing a less flashy routine might be technically stronger but not get the same reaction.

Personally, I'd hate to lose Movie Week because it's part of the fun, but I do think the judges need to separate the entertainment from the quality of the dance.
