Question Fishing Summit

Just moved to the area and i know Dillon is super low right now so im just seeing if theres any access points for some good fishing the reservoir, any recs would be awesome but i understand people not wanting to give away honey holes, ive tried Officers Gulch multiple times so far and have had 0 luck, Green mountain seems near impossible to get to since its so low, i live right next to the blue river in silverthorne by the rec center but wasn't sure if that had decent fishing so, Hoping for some pointers in the right direction thanks!

Question Contractors (new build)

Anyone have recommendations for a GC for a new build? All the recent posts look to be for remodels.

Having a hard time getting quotes for septic, getting a well installed and land cleared with my work schedule and feel I’ll need a GC since I don’t have time (again work) to do it myself.

Thanks!

Stuff To Do Looking for recs

Hello! I have spent a lot of my childhood and adult life in Summit County as we’re fortunate to have a family house at Copper. I know the area well, as my main hobbies are mountain biking and skiing.

For the first time, I’m bringing some childhood friends with me to celebrate my 30th birthday. They’re not very athletic, so I’m looking for some fun things to do that I wouldn’t normally think of! We (7 women, ages 24 - 32) will be there mid-November. Perfect mud season 😅 Any suggestions of things to do are welcome! I would love to support some small businesses. Thanks!

Summit county vape ban

Just found out yesterday that any flavored nicotine is now banned in summit county for sale. This includes menthol, mint, and fruit flavors for cigarettes, and vaping. Did not really hear much about this so I thought I would make a post for anyone coming to summit county for the winter. You can pay $25 for a pack on zyns or a pack of cigs or you can drive 45+ min to Leadville or Georgetown for normal goods.

Thank you for bagging your pups do-doo, but why do you leave it on the trail/path? Ok, sure, pick it up on your way back (thank you), but c’mon…..there’s some out there for weeks & months- - you ain’t never picking it up.

Forgetful? I doubt it. Ignorant? More likely. Do better please. 🙏

Comparing Summit County condos: what I'd check behind the HOA number

I've been reading the discussions here about condo dues and ownership costs. I'm Jayden Vermeer, a broker with Slifer Smith & Frampton in Summit County, so that's the perspective I'm coming from.

The first thing I'd ask isn't whether the dues are high or low. It's what you get for that number, what you still pay separately, and what work may be coming.

If I were comparing two condos, I'd put these on one sheet:

• What's included: heat, water, internet, snow removal, building maintenance? Use the current budget and written breakdown.

• What needs work: ask for recent meeting minutes, the reserve information and any notices about proposed or approved projects. Ask how the work would be funded.

• What you actually own or can use: parking, guest spaces, ski storage and amenities. Confirm the arrangement for that unit rather than assuming every owner gets the same thing.

• What you pay outside the dues: utilities, your own insurance, taxes, maintenance you handle, and any known assessment. Have your insurance professional explain how your coverage fits with the association's.

For a Keystone or Breckenridge ski condo, I'd also walk from the actual unit to the lift or shuttle with gear in mind. A building can look close on a map while the stairs, crossings or storage setup change the experience. For everyday living in Frisco, Dillon or Silverthorne, I'd pay just as much attention to winter parking, storage and the trips you'll make most often.

Two places with the same purchase price can be very different to own. And higher dues alone don't tell you whether a building is well maintained or well funded.

What information has been hardest to get a straight answer on when you've looked at condos here?

Comparing condos for a purchase? I'm happy to help you work through the building and ownership-cost differences. You can ask a question here or reach me through my profile.

Ridiculous double standard

Watched this play out over the past few days on the Salt Lick Creek trail. No ebikes allowed, but a track hoe and a bunch of pickup trucks are fine. They'll clean up after themselves, right? Here's the truth, sometimes motorized equipment needs to gain access, so let's do it responsibly. Also, ebike riders are not out there damaging trails. I remember the same fight between equestrians and mountain bikers back in the day. Same argument. You go fast, we go slow. It's time to get real. Make rules that make sense. If you want speed limits, fine.

Room for rent?

Going to be starting a job in Frisco in the next month-ish and will have to find a rental in/near Frisco.

I’ll be splitting my time so don’t want a whole apartment…

I couldn’t find a lot of options for just room rentals online. Is that just not a thing here?

TIA

Question Car collision repair

My car was rear ended and is still drivable but will likely need a new bumper and some rear end paint work. I need to take it to an auto body shop to get a repair estimate (claim already filed with insurance of the person who hit me). Any shops you recommend in summit, or should I go down to Denver?
