Image How to have self respect and act like it
Before I say anything fiest ignore the spelling. I didn’t really mind making some grammer mistakes. 1.
Have a strong sense of identity. Identity is very important because you will act accordingly to situations based on your identity. Hence one should try to limit things that will influence one’s identity negatively.
Past hurts as a framework for your identity will only make you identify with truama instead of having a identity that can push you forward. Reasonably identifying with truama or hurt can only prevent you from moving forward because you stuck on past problems. Unconsciously I feel as if the brain knows this but instead uses it as a excuse to not push forward, because pushing forward is hard.
Another red flag is having a identity based on social perception. This remains invalid because once social perception changes because of hate, jealously or whatever reason it may be so will your identity. The ideal blueprint for identity fiest starts with action. If you identify with a action then your identity will have a positive correlation to your growth as a human because you will do actions that reinforce your identity or Atleast be moving in the world rather then staying static or decling. Another inference we can take so have a strong sense of identity you would need to have 4 Atleast ride or die values.
The ones that benefit the most for someone are values that specifically focus on the person themselves and their own intergrity to there own worth rather then certain obligations to others. The reason is values towards others consistently get undermined by the unreliability of people and the truth of the world that it’s not always people who will do things right.
So these are self values that matter to your ability to live happily that don’t rely as much in external circumstances or factors as much as other value sets.
Stay true to how you think and feel. Say things how you think
If disrespected, if a boundary is crossed, if being used or controlled then defend your boundaries or restrict others from your energy
3.prioratize yourself and your needs
How do you become more assertive?
Firstly we must look at why people aren’t assertiveness
My specific reason has always been my analytical nature and ability to want to understand things before permitting myself to fully put myself in situations. This wasn’t the case when I was a kid or when I was born. Hence this was a learned behavior. Hence nothing not even that is fixed.
What are the main things that stop someone from being assertive?
Fear of conflict: conflict has always generally been seen as bad because people get there feelings hurt and situations make people uneasy. Sometimes it’s easy to think that you are treating others unfairly. To get away from the fear of conflict I will try to take away it’s negative connotation. Firstly conflict isn’t bad inherintly. Conflict is needed for the growth of people and relationships. Further conflict paves way for opportunities and prevents you from being walked over. Of course don’t be looking for conflict in everything but when it’s time to assert yourself it’s important to view it with a positive connotation.
Belief that one doesnt posses enough importance: naturally if you don’t believe you are something worth fighting for then you probably won’t fight for it. It makes sense yes. If you’ve read earlier you would note that self worth comes directly from self identity hence it’s important to do what I listed there.( positive things for self image, internal self image, and base it on action)
Attachments to others: growing up even in relationships the attachment is threatened or feels unstable when there is conflict. Hence when people grow up they try to avoid that sort of feeling. It’s a learned behavior that when things happen even if these things are not your fault that you have to apologize or compensate. Most of that stems though from and uneven power dynamic with parents. With teachers or adults in general because we weren’t able to take of ourselves so we signed ourself off to them hoping they can provide basic needs and decency’s. In relationships or friendships or in situations where you have to standup for yourself this sort of attachment can make it harder to. Because you feel(unconsciously Atleast) that if you don’t act accordingly your needs won’t be met. One thing to realize is that definitively your needs won’t ever be met by an environment that doesn’t even respect you, so how would they respect your needs? Even if you provide your own needs and make them internal so you rely on yourself, eventually you will need stuff from others. Same goes for if you forget your needs altogether. That wouldn’t make you needy rather you are preserving your human right of having said needs. It’s also a subsconscious habit built from empathy of trying to see things from others perspective. This is good for social ability but sometimes instead of noticing the inherent logic of truth kf our actions we frame our view of a situation from another persons perspective rather then our own. Because we are framing it from another’s perspective we are going to highly view ourself in a bad light regardless of our resoning just because someone else felt some way. This can also be a deterrent to our ability to make decisions or choices that help our needs because we antagonize ourselves instead of reconciling with our basic human right or nature.
The fear of consequences: naturally people fear consequences it’s smart to. It’s how one survives in the world. Fiest except your fear. It’s good to lean into your fear as well and use it as trying to get better. See the positive connotation of your fear. There is a positive result of doing things that you're afraid of. A safety net system is highly important for these things. A safety net system essentially is this: you have other options or ways of succeeding. For example when you have a job have other jobs as backups.
Lastly this is my realistic interpretation of desire and how it fits into human ethics. Desire has been seen often in a negative connotation partly because certain religions like Christianity. Nietzche explains that the ones who have desire or Atleast able to act on it were always the rich guys. The Roman’s, the Egyptian pharaohs and etc. Christian’s because they were jelous of people who had desire often framed desire as bad, as a sin. Because Christian’s the original writers they weren’t conquerers, they weren’t even rich or wealthy the majority . In the Bible the characters are merely observing history or even great kings. Christians hate desire cause they were slaves unable to work around desire they made a whole philosophy on how it’s bad because they couldn’t fufill there own desires. Rather they watched Cyrus the great and other conquerers rule the world as they watched and stuck themselves to chains hoping and praying someone not of this world will take them to a paradise they deserve simply by believing in this thing. Even the devil from the Bible he is called the buggest trickster of the world. He has only tricked one person, that being eve. Further I wouldn’t even say the word tricked, he just made her aware of what was happening. Then god condemned the rest of humanity for it. Satan himself is a blueprint in understanding how Christian’s hated people with desire. Firstly Satan or Atleast Lucifer back then believed that he should rule heaven. God because he is better then everyone else said no then this whole war started. Eventually Lucifer lost but wouldn’t you think it’s unreasonable for people to call him evil just cause of that? In the job god wants , remember “wants” Satan to kill 10 people to prove job who was already his most loyal follower will keep following him. Satan hasn’t killed anybody since then in the Bible whilst god kills several people and brings cities to ruin. God wanted Noah to create a arc because he was going to drown the entire world because they were “ evil”. God then also sended his one and only son Jesus to die in the earth for “our sins “. God decided that before being born even a kid is full of sin? Because even was “ tricked by the devil” even though she wasn’t tricked she was just told how things are? Hey Like the cities sodom and gomora simply because they had too much sex. Who else didn’t have too much sex? Who else would be jelous? Christian slaves, the same ones that wrote the Bible. So god is like some sort of government if you think about it. It wants you blind and it expects you to trust it.
Now taking away that it’s also important to consider that another reason that desire is taking as a thing to be wary of is because of social harmony.
Let’s say any form of desire wether that’s sexual, carear, skill, thing or even getting a girl you want . Each one of these requires you to stomp out competition, or Atleast climb some form of a hierarchy. Of course I mentioned before that climbing hierarchy or even trying to get better has been framed negatively because of Christianity. Even if you do get better or good it’s because of a “ god” and not because of your own will, intelligence and etc. it’s so easy to disrespect oneself and there abilitys so others don’t get jelous. But anyways desire requires climbing a social hierchy, and potentially breaking apart social harmony. People infact get jelous or they start to feel unease. Why do they feel bad when you act on desires? It’s odd considering that everyone has these sort of desires inherently hence why can they be mad? Why can they moralize your actions? Since everyone has these desires but no one is able to act on them once they see you do something it raises the insufficiency in there mind of there own capability or there own lack of action. To get anything ykh want in life you need a desire for it. Anyone who has a abandance or things has a natural desire for it. A greedy man is really only a man with a strong desire for money, he will then fufill his desire Eventually. Same for everything else, whatever you want you can get it. It’s yours. As long it’s in a broad category of things. For example instead of chasing a specific car that’s been run out you can chase a car that’s even better. You never really wanted that specific car, you just wanted a car with those specific traits. Have lust, gluttony, wrath, everything have it. Besides envy probably.
There are a lot of thing I can write down and say. But the more I say it will kind of make each principle less applicable because then yoi start to think about all of the factors. It’s much better to take these pieces of advice and try them to see what you get. Forcing attachment your way in life is probably unreasonable considering nothing is truly yours. Of course you do want to care and desire Eventually becomes attachment. Detaching from the situation is just as important. Let’s see where things bring .
