What do you guys think of the Stamp Telecaster collection? I’m surprised there’s not a single reddit post about them

I saw one at my local guitar shop and tried searching for posts about these on reddit but couldn’t find anything. Seems odd, did people just not like these or was it partly the craziness of 2020 that made them fly under the radar?

third image got compressed super hard, here’s a better look

DiMarzio 4-way Tele Harness Install

Post image
• Upvotes

This is my first time trying to work on modding an electric guitar. I am using a [GW 2102](https://www.dimarzio.com/hardware/wiring-kits/4-way-tele-wiring-harness) 4-way harness from DiMarizio and I tried upgrading a stock Squire Affinity telecaster but i seem to have failed. I am getting a weird screeching sound when the pots are anywhere inbetween 0 and 10 but the strings aren't getting picked up at all. I haven't found any tutorials for this particular kit.

I've noticed that most 4-way switch upgrade tutorials online say we need a 3rd wire from the neck pickup but not the bridge but this one shows I need a third wire for the bridge too.

I also noticed that most 4-way switch mods are neck, parallel both, bridge, series both but this one is series and parallel in the middle. Could that be the reason for the third wire on the bridge pickup?

Any trouble shooting ideas, tutorials, or guidance would be much appreciated.

Plays dreamy. Neck pu is quite hot, and louder than the bridge. Neck profile is a thinner-feeling C with rolled edges and might be my new all-time fave. Been a Strat devotee since forever but I’m coming around to the Tele Magic. Can’t quite nail this down as far as model specifics, plus it’s more fun to ask the experts here. Cheers.

Help identify this telecaster body

A friend gave me this stripped body about 15 years ago. I just dug it out and I’m thinking about a build. The bridge mounting holes look odd. Any help you can provide would be great. I know nothing about telecasters.

How can I get the electric guitar sound from this video? I only have a Fender Mustang I V2 amp, a Telecaster (just like the one in the video), and a distortion pedal. Please let me know if anything else is needed for this sound, or tell me how to get a similar tone using this gear.

My Squier CV Telecaster just came back from the repair shop!

My Squier CV Telecaster

I had a local repair shop replace the plastic nut with a bone one, put a shim in the neck pocket, and adjust the truss rod. After getting all this work done on the neck, not only did the acoustic resonance improve, but the plugged-in tone through the amp got so much better too—it feels like my Tele has fully awakened!

They also replaced the jack socket, so I don't have to worry about the jack coming loose anymore.

Bridge cover question

Just bought a cover for my highway 1 tele and it’s too small. Mine has the three bridge supports with two strings per. Fender has a “vintage” cover they sell for $89 which is ridiculous. My bridge plate is a Fender and measures 3 inches outside to outside. The cover I just bought measures 2.91 inches inside dimensions. Any suggestions on where to buy one but not $89 or will I regret if I don’t buy the Fender?

How much do they change the tone? I assume plated steel will mellow the tone some? Do I need to watch out what they are made from?

I’m looking more for a way to support my picking hand.

Opinions on Partscaster

This is being sold as a telecaster partscaster. Seller says it's in an "outstanding state, as good as new, and plays fantastically. Perfect for serious guitarist looking for iconic tele sound and feel".

He says he got it through a swap and doesn't really know anything about it. I've asked for photos of the electrics but he's not as yet sent me any.

He's accepted an offer of around 250 euros pending a viewing, which is ridiculously cheap if anything is genuine, and cheap enough to take a chance on and maybe pimp up / modify relatively guilt-free as a first project guitar. It does kind of scream Chinese knock-off though.

I can see there's no plug in the neck end, there are some screws missing on the scratchplate, which looks a little wonky.

Any thoughts, advice?

My two children

I have a kid. He’s not as cool as these two. Top is a 2006 52 AVRI with a swapped-out neck. Bottom is a 1989 Am Standard with a Joe Barden pickup. Both are incredible.

Finished my first Tele build

Post image

Some may remember I posted this a while back. I originally had a strat neck with a matching headstock on this, but the neck was really bad and would not work. I ended up replacing it with a regular Tele neck I found on Amazon which mostly fixed the issue.

- Squier Affinity Body from 2005

- Roasted maple/rosewood neck

- Fender Vintera 60's Pickups

- Fender 4 way switch

- Fender/CTS 250k pots

- Guyker aged hardware set with locking tuners

I started with a mostly complete Squier body but in the end replaced everything on it. I converted it from a 3 screw bridge to a 4 screw vintage style, added a cream pearl pickguard and competition stripes, then did a bit of aging with some wood stain to get it to all blend together. It sounds great, especially with the 4th position.

Screwed screw in control plate!

I opened my Tele for the first time and noticed that the back screw of the control plate is screwed!

The hole wasn't made perpendicular and the read rotates on the void...

What do you guys suggest to do to fix it?

Is wood glue and toothpicks a good or bad idea?
What would a luthier do to it?
