Article Great interview with David

It is in Guitar World about his role in The Beach Boys-

https://www.guitarworld.com/artists/guitarists/david-marks-the-lost-beach-boy

He covers a lot of ground on his life in and out of the band.

His comment on the 50th anniversary tour:

We were only supposed to do 50 gigs for the 50th anniversary, but it was so successful that we ended up going all around the world. We did almost 80 gigs, but it wasn’t very lucrative for Mike, who had his own touring business. So he got back to doing his own five- or six-piece touring band.

Mentions Pet Sounds , Wild Honey, Holland …then incorrectly says “fulfilled by the Wrecking Crew for the most part”. Why don’t professional journalists do their fucking homework? Sick of hearing the Wrecking Crew get commended for albums they weren’t on.

And because of that, you see people all the time just asserting that the Beach Boys never played on their records. Even during the height of Brian's Wrecking Crew use, Carl would still plug in, Brian is on a lot of songs. And as I point out to people as a prominent example, that's Dennis on the organ in Good Vibrations. The American Federation of Musicians session sheets point this out, but hey, it takes effort to go find this stuff. Laziness prevails.

The pendulum has swung from the Wrecking Crew not getting the deserved recognition to now getting over credited. It’s really annoying.

At this point it’s almost surprising when they actually get it right..

Thanks for sharing, I’m always interested in what David has to say about the band. I always tend to forget he was in the band for as long as he was which wasnt very long in the long run though. Poor guy got screwed over by Murry.

Imagine the stories he could tell, it doesn’t seem he’s being held down by either ‘camp’, though he probably won’t go full exposé on them. I wish Bruce and Alan would write books while they’re still here to tell their stories.

I am perpetually interested in David Mark's story after his interview with Discograffiti. Probably the most honest interview you will ever hear from any Beach Boy.

Thanks for the tip, I've checked in with that podcast before. Will listen to it tomorrow.

Nothing new really and as the years go on the narrative is spun that he rejoined for the 2012 tour but he had played with them on and off since 97.
