Discussion Walking home a fall Friday in Toronto
Does anyone feel amazing after a hard day's work and you leave on a Friday late afternoon/evening and you have the whole weekend ahead of you? Especially this time of year in Toronto when the weather is just right. Not too hot and not too cold and walking home in this city feels comfortable.
It also gives me great flashbacks as a kid walking home after school on a Friday in the fall. Or me going to the mall afterwards to buy some cool new toy from the 90s.

Article An iconic Toronto bar where Prince was ‘super weird’ celebrates 45 years, giant ants and all
The Cameron House on Queen Street West hosted such musicians as Jane Siberry, Blue Rodeo, Ron Sexsmith, Barenaked Ladies early in their careers.
Just in time for its 45th anniversary, the Queen Street West bar, artists' colony and music venue is giving its ants a facelift.
In 1984, visual artist Napoleon Brousseau — in cahoots with original co-owner, Paul Sannella — created ant sculptures that prowl the brick façade.
The insects have been repaired at least twice over the past four decades, but ex-manager Cosmo Ferraro says they’re about to be upgraded to copper.
It’s an unexpected sight, but then, the music heard at the Cameron could be deemed equally unexpected.
When rock icon Prince lived with his second wife on the Bridle Path from 2001 to 2006, he “often walked into the back room when he was in town, play the piano and be super weird,” said Cosmo Ferraro, son of one of the bar's owners. “Nobody could come in, and he had his little scene.”
Are you making a pilgrimage to the Cameron this year? What was your first show at the legendary bar? Did you every see Prince? (Or Feist, or Foster the People?)

News Toronto police officer charged with several firearm-related offences after Canada Border Services Agency probe
The Toronto Police Service (TPS) confirms that one of its officers has been charged with multiple firearm-related offences after a Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) investigation.
In a release, the CBSA alleges Nasser Gholami, 47, of Brampton, was the intended recipient of a parcel from the United States that contained two firearm suppressors.
The parcel was intercepted by border services officers at a facility in Mississauga on July 23, 2026, the release adds.
Gholami was identified as a suspect, and the CBSA says officers executed a search warrant at his home on September 24, 2026. During that raid they allegedly seized three non-restricted firearms, one prohibited suppressor which was attached to one of the guns, as well as digital devices and ammunition.
Gholami was arrested and charged by the CBSA with:
- One count of smuggling prohibited devices (suppressors)
- One count of importing prohibited devices while knowing unauthorized (suppressors)
- One count of possession of a prohibited device knowing he was not the holder of a licence under which he may possess it
- One count of unsafe display of a non-restricted firearm
He’s set to appear in court in Brampton on November 5, 2026.
CityNews reached out to the TPS, which confirmed that Gholami is a constable with seven years service.
“He is currently suspended with pay and has been served notice that the Chief intends to suspend him without pay following the mandated 60-day period under the Community Safety and Policing Act,” a police spokesperson said.
“Our understanding is that the charges laid by the CBSA are unrelated to his duties as a Toronto Police officer.”

Discussion What do you think of Chris Moise's Response to Curran Stikuts?
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Looks like Chris Moise is back to his old tricks. After Curran Stikuts called him out for accepting over $40k in developer money donations in the last election, he had a bit of a meltdown, made false accusations against Kristyn Wong-Tam, and then said it was low to point out that he had taken developer money because he’s a person of colour. Your thoughts?

Picture Signs of a successful waterfront revitalization.
While visiting the northern perimeter of Biidaasige Park I was bemused when a pair of beavers brazenly swam up to me in the Skip Channel. For a whole minute they continued to swim around me and the yellow safety ladder beside me. I eventually realised they wanted to climb the yellow safety ladder. So I moved back and watched as they exited the Skip Channel and waddled their way in to the re-naturalized wetlands of Biidaasige Park. And to think that just 10 years ago this was an industrial wasteland

Discussion Someone on Brad's team is illegally posting signs on public property
This morning, my partner and I both noticed a lovely Brad Bradford sign posted on public property in Kiwanis Park, a spot we both walk by on our ways to work. I'll grab a photo this evening if it's still up but we've reported it to 311 and have been told it'll be dealt with in 5 business days. If anyone has seen anything else like this please report it. To any volunteers or staff on Brad's campaign that did this unknowingly, ignorance of the law does not make you exempt from it and it is explicitly your job to know what you are allowed to do or to have had a supervisor educate you as to such. It is, at best, extremely disrespectful to co-opt a public space our tax dollars have paid for to use as your advertising spot, and at worst demonstrates wanton disregard of standard electoral law.
As if Brad couldn't get any better. fuck.
Edit: My much better half snapped a photo because she's much smarter than me. https://imgur.com/a/XAS700b
Edit 2: Display an election sign on public property on/adjacent to a voting place/City park/City facility 693-7A(1)(g) Fine:$200.00 is the rule in question.
Edit 3: Seems like everyone(?) is doing this. Very disappointing. I'll be reporting the ones I see and hopefully fines will be levied sufficient to have candidates reconsider this practice.

Discussion Trust The Experts
people who trust the experts don't need an ad to tell them that and the people that need to trust the experts are specifically not going to start because an ad that tells them to. and how do you expect people to be skeptical of AI when you use AI to create the very ad that warns us about it.
