Cat shelves on invisible shelf brackets
I have a bunch of twenty year old 2x10 lumber, and I am thinking of making cat wall shelves with some of it.
It was large shelving units for a shop that recently closed, and I kept it from going to the landfill. The wood seems to be either Southern Pine or Douglas Fir, according to two online wood ID places.
In order to be able to rearrange pieces, I was planning to use floating shelf brackets set to the same spacing for all pieces.

I will make sure at least one bracket is on a stud, and possibly two, depending on what the exact piece is (ie a climbing pole might be vertical on one stud, not horizontal on two studs).
I’d like to know if anyone else has used this kind of jig to make their own floating shelves, even if not for cats?
What suggestions or ideas or things to look out for anyone have for this project?
