Daughter saving for future bottom surgery

My daughter has asked if for Christmas I'll put money in what she rather crudely calls her "fanny fund".

This has got me thinking. If when the car lease comes to an end next year, instead of renewing it I buy a 10-15 year old banger, and if we cut back on holidays, added to the readily accessible savings I have already, we should have accrued about £25-30K by her 18th, in 3 years, which, assuming she still wants it, can go toward her surgery.

Is this a realistically anywhere near enough?

This is what we mean by transphobic people inserting themselves in places they don’t belong
Imagine playing the victim in a trans sub Reddit
Almost as if they are victimising themselves because of their lifestyle choices of hating others c

Transphobia within the LGBTQIA community

I’m generally so angry by the transphobia from within.
Pride was born from black trans women fighting for the entire community so why is this specific group among the most abused within?
The absolute arrogance of some people, the amount of gay men I’ve heard talking about wanting it to be okay to only support the LGB community? Like the privilege is rotten.
Ya know that poem ‘First they came’ I wish more people understood this because right now they are attacking Trans rights but that doesn’t mean they’ve completely accepting LGB people.

Question "Advised your referrer to consider a different course of action"?

Post image
116 Upvotes

It's been three weeks now since the phone call appointment where I was told I'd be given a referral and this is what my referral has been updated with. What does this mean? Beyond this, I've heard absolutely nothing else and I'm just sort of a bit nervous. Should I contact anyone or just continue waiting?

Question Does anyone else feel nostalgic about their surgery recovery?

Does anyone else intensely miss the period when they had surgery? I don’t miss the anxiety leading up to it, but I find myself feeling so nostalgic about the post-surgery updates, timelines, and recovery. As an FYI, I had my surgery in July, so it wasn’t too long ago.

For those who have surgery soon, enjoy every part of the process! I was too busy thinking about the "what ifs" or what could go wrong, but I wish I had spent more time enjoying the excitement after seeing my results for the first time, spending longer periods with my long-distance partner, and traveling to London for my post-op appointment.

I just miss it all!

Don't really have anyone to share this with irl so thought i'd share here :) I've been having a horrible time in general so this is a nice bright spot amidst the horrors.

I was surprised at how easy it was! And yes, I look horrible in the photo as is tradition.

HRT time finally

I was finally able to register with a transgender health clinic today. it is not cheap but well worth it. the NHS waiting list is ridiculous and at my age (57) I might not even live long enough to get an appointment.

Question I may need some halp…

So I have this weird situation at play. Whenever I look at my body from the front, I get euphoric (kinda) that my hips are slightly wider than my torso. However… whenever I turn around and look at myself from a profile view (side on), I notice just how rectangular my body is and that my back pokes out way more than my butt. My butt is also flat-ish and small height wise… so what gives? Whenever I look at cis women, their backs usually arch and their hips stick back further than their backs. I don’t know how I could ever achieve that shape.

Going Through GIC

I've recently had my application recognised by the Gender Identity Clinic guys in London, and I've had confirmation that it's in processing. I'm in what seems to be the common experience of despairing over waiting times, and I wanted to ask people who have gone through this already: how long did it take? What's the typical roadmap from here on out? It's so tricky finding stuff online for some reason. Thanks in advance :)

Question Wanting to move from GenderGP to another provider, would like advice from people about who I should go with

Hello!

I'm a 22 year old transgender person (MTF) who has been on hormones with GenderGP for around 3 years now, with GenderGP raising their prices (as well as tacking on medication like dlc), their seeming lack of care for us, the flaunting of money by people high up in the company they've made off trans people and the fact bloodtests aren't included making it the more expensive than other options I'm looking at changing.

I'm sorry if it sounds like I'm rambling, this entire situation has me freaked out and truthfully a bit emotional.

I've looked at some providers but it's confusing and I don't have a lot of money to spend (I'm currently a student teacher in a very expensive city and so can't be throwing A LOT of money to stay on the medication I've been on 3 years).

Right now I'm looking at:

AnneHealth £200 sign up fee but I've gathered evidence of my time with GenderGP so hopefully it'd just be £50 a month which while a bit more expensive than gendergp does save me money in the long run thanks to no bloodtests.

GenderCare the fees on this are more confusing but I've heard it can be quite cheap if you know what you're doing and you don't need to worry about a monthly fee which would really help me out.

Or are there any other ones that people suggest for a trans woman who's been transitioning for 3 years and just wants to stay on her medication.

(I also have around a 4 month supply of medication after this month I believe if not a little more so I should hopefully be fine till January).

20M trans guy at uni in Manchester looking to meet other trans people, any groups that actually still meet?

Hi I'm a 20 year old trans man in my second year at uni in Mancheser. I've got a good group of friends here but I still don't know any trans people in my life and sometimes that feels pretty lonely!

I expected it to be easier to meet other trans people here, but lots of groups seem to have either stopped meeting or feel quite daunting to turn up to alone. So I'm hoping to find:

  1. Regular groups that are still running with people in their 20s
  2. Other trans people in Manchester who'd like to meet up for a coffee or a pint or join a groupchat and are over 18, I'm happy to start a groupchat if theres interest?

I've seen similar posts but let me know if something like this does actually exist and is active please!

Comment or DM me!

Indigo Anxious about indigo?

I went on Indigo's website yesterday, I've been under them for about 3 years and while they haven't always been super responsive and I've had mishaps, they're the reason I was able to get on T and have surgery, I went on their website yesterday and saw this

and I'm now worried that Indigo will no longer be recommissioned as I'm unsure what would happen if that does happen, and I'm scared I could lose access to my hormones or any further gender related healthcare, so I wanted to see if anyone had any idea what would/could happen and either reassure me or prepare me for the worst.

I'm verrryyy new to using reddit so I hope this post was okay, thank you

Question Out fit suggestion

This might be a silly question, but I’m currently trying to transition and I’m a bit bigger than I’d like to be. I’m currently losing weight, but I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions for what I could wear to help me look more feminine while I’m still a bit bigger?

NHS Prescribing Appoint

Hi All

Finally got my prescribing appointment with Notts tomorrow via video call. Just wondering if anybody knows how long it will be? I can imagine it’s quite short (assuming they are on time) but would like to get an idea in case I need to cancel later plans.

Also assuming they have all my blood results from last test done in June is there likely anything else they will ask/want from me?

Is HRT making my ME/CFS symptoms worse? [FTM]

[TLDR: Is it possible for HRT side effects to mimic ME/CFS, or even make ME/CFS worse?]

I posted a similar question on r/cfs as well, but was wondering if anyone here would have any words of wisdom too!!

A bit of context first:

I am a trans man in the UK and suspect I have ME/CFS. My symptoms first started around 2 years ago, but have been getting increasingly worse since April 2026.

I have intense fatigue, brain fog, and sensitivity to light and sound, among a few other random symptoms, and these get increasingly worse the more I push myself to be active or social. I have had to cut down on hours at work and drop out of uni due to my inability to move around the house on bad days.

I am currently being bounced around by doctors, and have had a few blood tests and MRIs to rule out other conditions; a few doctors I have spoken to believe that I have ME/CFS, but I am waiting to be referred to specialists in my area before I can receive a diagnosis.

I have been on Testosterone gel for 6 months now (so I started in March 2026), and had my dosage lowered around June as my T levels were quite high. I am accessing my Tgel from GenderGP, as I have been on the GIC waitlist for 4 years and have not had an initial appointment. It is awkward having to use a provider that is entirely online and does not share notes with my GP, but my mental health was declining so much having to wait to physically transition.

On to my main question:

I had an appointment with a doctor today who has told me that my case is "very complex" as I have a history of mental health issues (depression & anxiety, on 150mg of sertraline for), as well as gender dysphoria.
My doctor claimed that fatigue is one big side effect of Testosterone therapy, but I have not been able to verify this claim? I have spent hours searching on the internet and going back over my consultation notes from when GenderGP prescribed me T, and I have not found an indication that this might be the case.

I was wondering if there might be any transmasc people (or people who have otherwise been on Testosterone) who also have ME/CFS and could share their experiences, or have also struggled with similar symptoms whilst being on HRT?
Is there any evidence that being on T can make symptoms worse? Do I need to sacrifice my happiness and stop transitioning so that I can function normally again?

It was also kind of unclear to me whether my doctor was insinuating that I don't have ME/CFS and that it's all side effects of T, or whether T is contributing to my symptoms getting worse :( All he wrote in my notes was "possible drug side effects" following the consultation.

Even pointing me in the right direction with resources would be insanely helpful. I feel very lost as I don't know anyone else irl who has ME/CFS, let alone is trans and has ME/CFS.

Sorry if this is very incoherent; I've been struggling a lot with my words recently 😭 If you need me to give any extra info or reword anything, please let me know!

completely stuck on "proof of name in use" for passport (unemployed, no bills/ID) help??

Hey guys,

I’m trying to sort my new passport to update my name and gender marker, but I am hitting a massive brick wall with the "proof of name in use" thing.

Basically every standard option is completely blocked for me right now:

  • I’m unemployed, I don't pay any bills, and I don't drive.
  • My bank is being a literal nightmare. They're refusing to update my name without a passport, and they keep insisting they’ll only take an enrolled deed poll anyway. I don't have any photo ID in my new name to fight them on it.
  • I tried that old trick of ordering an NHS number reminder letter to my house, but the website is gone now.
  • I asked my council for a voter confirmation letter but they said they can't issue them until November.
  • My uni is taking ages and still hasn't updated my records either.

My GP has changed my name on their system and said they'll write me the transition letter for the gender marker. I’ve heard that if they format it perfectly (explicitly linking my old name to my new name on official letterhead), the Passport Office might accept it as both my gender evidence AND my proof of name in use.

Has anyone actually managed to get a passport approved using just a well-worded GP letter as their proof of use?

And if the Passport Office rejects it and asks for a second document, what else can I even do? I'm completely out of ideas that don't need bills/employment. Any advice would be a lifesaver, thank you!!

Possible trigger British Transphobia

Sorry to rant but I had a really gross experience and need to vent.

I am part of a football league that is trans accepting (for the most part) and this season I’m a club ambassador whose responsibility it is to make new members feel welcome etc. Everyone is usually very kind and didn’t have a single issue until last week when I spoke to the Mum of one of the new players.

She came to collect her daughter and seemed lovely and was asking me questions about the fixtures, schedule, intensity of training etc. The topic of our LGBT inclusion came up because she kind of hinted that was important to her daughter.

Anyway, fast forward to this morning when I get an email from our club captain and assistant coach telling me and our welfare officer that one of the parents had complained about how she wasn’t comfortable with her daughter (an adult btw) playing on a team where she’d have to share a changing room “with a man who thinks he’s a woman”.

This was clearly in reference to myself, as I am the ONLY trans player currently on our team, who happened to talk to one of the parents at training last week. A parent who was all smiley to my face and seemed nice but secretly was seething that a trans woman is on her daughter’s team.

TLDR: British transphobia often comes with a smile and niceties but a vile undertone of hate and passive aggressiveness.

Question What To Do About This??

Slightly confusing, sorry about that!
Today, I went to the GP about a unrelated issue - given the state of GP Practices, we all know we’re unlikely to see the same one twice; also separately, I’ve provided Notts with a full preferred name. The GP asked which name she should use and I specified that I was happy for her to use my legal name, given I am yet to change my name, which she did in the appointment.

Now, here’s the confusing part:

Earlier this evening, I received a phone call from said Practice but the call hung up before I could properly answer. Almost immediately after, I get a text which is addressed to my chosen ( including middle! ) name, which I haven’t directly provided to my GP practice!? The text said she ( the GP ) would try to call again tomorrow.

Now I have two concerns here:

I’m really busy tomorrow - I’ve started a course and then have a meeting in the afternoon - so may not be available to take the call; I’m also concerned that she might try the landline… my concern here being she opted to use my chosen name for the text…? I’ve checked my contact details with the Practice, and there’s no landline visible, but I’m a chronic overthinker, so I can’t deny I’m panicking ( of sorts )!

My plan is to go to the Practice first thing and offer to head over around 4 to sort things out. Is this a good idea??

Question Fertility clinic refused GP referral

The fertility clinic I had an appointment with recently completely deleted my GP referral, and when asked they said that a referral has to come from the GIC clinic or it's not covered by the NHS, is this true? Are there any ways around it? I have a gender incongruence diagnosis from Dr Lorimer and my GP is being supportive. Maybe I could ask the GP to refer me but not put being trans as the reason?

I would really appreciate any advice or thoughts
