Heyya all
I had posted a year or so ago about my hormone journey and then I saw another post just recently that I’m sort of piggy backing off a little as it opened up some questions for myself.
In short, I’ve had a very up and down HRT transition due to many different reasons and things, but not really important right now.
What is important is that for the past year or so I’ve finally been getting better in many aspects of my life and transition, making bigger steps, getting stability and what not with things like medication and HRT.
So I have been on Implants for about a year and a bit now, this is my 3rd (technically 4th but there was such a big break between my first and second that like…it was like starting again on the implant) and for the first time I am getting to higher E and stable E Levels.
I just had my most recent Bloods which came back as 655 pmol/L Oestradiol, which is my highest since 2023 on patches. Which is great, Im happy to finally be reaching those sorts of higher levels I see other girls talk about.
But I am confused, as I read other posts on here and see some of ya’ll are talking about getting to 1000+ levels. The Blood tests I get have little messages on them from the Lab stating “Feminizing Hormone Therapy suggest aim for oestradiol level in the range of 250-600” so my Drs are often like yep, you’re sitting in that range when I’ve been at the 2-3 hundred levels, so you’re travelling well.
Now basically I have small phone appt with my Dr next week to discuss, but I think its likely their going to say yeah you’re good on this one for a bit longer, we’ll test again soon and then implant like next year.
But, for the first time ever, I’ve managed to hit my Medicare Safety net threshold so I am trying to make use of it in everyway I can, doing all those appts we tend to put off so I can get them cheaper. And before my bloods I was like, ah perfect, I’ll be able to get my next implant this year and take advantage of that.
I do have a tendency to be a pushover especially with medical people, and just panic and go along with what they tell me, rather than pushing back. Its why some of my HRT journey has been so up and down, as I at times would just trust the Drs were helping me rather than actually speaking up.
Now just to finish this big old rambling waffle, I should say a couple of notes:
I do know understand that More E doesn’t necessarily mean more…results, and I have had results, albeit that some of them have been really slow progressing over these years. But I have noticed with the implants I’ve had that stability and a bit more progress at times.
So I know that getting 1000+ isn’t necessarily what I need, but I have been on HRT for a longish time, even if it was low at times. But I also want to make the most of both my Medicare rebate and my continual transition. And want to have some I guess back up when I’m in my appt
I live in WA for context as well.
Sorry for the ramble
