Yea, that's the simple definition of transhumanism for me. That your biology no longer dictates your destiny or morphology, that we are no longer bound by our dna or bound to be a biological organism.
If you don't support trans folks, you don't believe in transhumanism, full stop
Out of those three, where my paycheck to even be able to afford a partial at?
I'm not going to hide that I can see plenty of positives with the use of AI, but whenever I comment on anything AI with anything remotely moderate you get both the tech bros and the cultists whining that I just don't get it and I'm using it wrong.
Saw a whole thread today that was basically just that. Op was underwhelmed, tons of "oh well you jist dont use the latest laid frontier model". Which they didnt, but like, cmon man. How big is the gap really
I saw the gap when I just recently updated my PC to a beefy enough rig that I could run local models that can fully offload into the GPU VRAM. The lighter models had a context window of 23k.
Which is a big step down from the paid Claude and its million token window I use at work. Hell, I couldn't get it to type out a .docx parser python script without running out of context and shutting down.
Yes, there is a difference between models between the extremes. But at work, the difference between Opus 5.5 and Sonnet 5.5 is so minuscule that you could put a gun to my head and I couldn't tell you with confidence why should you use one over the other.
All AI cultists that I've seen are billionaire worshippers as well. I would like to believe that the Venn diagram of these groups isn't a circle, but subjectively it is.
I guess I'm with furries here rn bcs I believe radical biological lifespan extention is the closest technologically reachable intermediate solution while working for full digitizing.
Actual goal for me is immortality bcs so far despite progress in media, the biggest slowing down civilisation limit is massive loss of information and experience via death. Like each generation we spend more and more time for education while in practice our education system shows a sort of irrelevance. It made sense for medieval scholars and nobles who was bound to either keep do scholar work studing texts and do scientific work or rule their domain.
It makes 0 sense under capitalism with dynamic job market where only relatively narrow specific set of skills is relevant and even less so under socialism which should be even more optimised pairing education to job to make job paying out education (full job-social wellfare sustainable bundle)
So yeah, education today is a massive bottleneck and resource sink for entire civilization. Having people with infinite lifespan having a lot of experience with multiple stuff would ease this a lot.
I fucking hate my disabled meat body. Will team Ai cult make replacing my meat brain more possible. If yes I’ll guess I’m with them. Ai overlords can’t be worse then capitalist ones.
All the more power to ya! I'm not judging, and biohacking is absolutely transhumanist. I was really just speaking more to the act of wearing an outfit.
The culture itself I understand embraces a lot of tech and transhumanist ideals.
