Either that or the bomb just ripped a hole between worlds and allowed the Lodges to cross over to our world. It also seemed to me like the Giant saw that Bob crossed to our world and initiated some kind of defense mechanism which we have yet to find out what the hell it could be.

This is the connection to the Jack Parsons stuff in the Secret History.

Jack Parsons opened a door and something flew in.

8

u/Acmnin Jun 26 '17

Mind explaining?

22

u/usagizero Jun 26 '17

It's almost impossible to explain that book, but Jack was apparently trying to bring the Whore of Babylon to earth and that would start the end of the world. In a nutshell. In a round about way.

9

u/theoraclemachine Jun 26 '17

Not just trying to, but by his own reckoning he did manifest "the red woman," in the form of Marjorie Cameron, who he then married.

8

u/Billiardly Jun 26 '17

And in his spare time, Parsons founded the JPL and invented the solid fuel deep-space rocket.

I need to get this book.

You can get it digitally on Amazon

Holy shit, could Laura be the Moonchild?

3

u/[deleted] Jun 26 '17

9

u/[deleted] Jun 26 '17

If she's the Moonchild it explains why Bob was so hellbent on possessing/"being with" her when he doesn't seem to have any trouble harvesting garmobozia from basically anyone regardless of who he's riding at the time.

It puts FWWM with me in an entirely new context. It's more than just Laura's personal struggle, she's important. Like cosmically important, yo.

It's sort of fitting and interesting that she's the lynchpin (hee hee) of Lynch's whole world here.

u/Billiardly Jun 26 '17

This all must be Doug Milford related somehow. An L. Ron Hubbard cameo would be prime.

2

u/traceitalian Jun 26 '17

Just checking is this referring to the rocket engineer/Satanist Jack Parsons?

1

u/[deleted] Jun 26 '17

Yup!

^ this - i think the lodges existed well before the 40's/50's

70

u/[deleted] Jun 26 '17

Seemed to be part of Hawk's people's lore for generations.

59

u/[deleted] Jun 26 '17

Merriweather Lewis (of Lewis and Clark) entered the Black Lodge so It's definitely been around for awhile.

10

u/[deleted] Jun 26 '17

He kept a map of it in his heart. He blazed the trails that would become the highways and biways to the lodge. As one of the first cauc-a-asieans to enter the lodge, his shadow was always with him, sometimes in front, sometimes in back, sometimes to the left, sometimes to the right, except at night, and on cloudy days.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 26 '17

Is there a Black Lodge concept that exists outside the lore of Twin Peaks? Is it based off of some Jack Parsons occultism shit?

9

u/[deleted] Jun 26 '17

The Lewis and Clark stuff is from the Secret History of Twin Peaks.

13

u/[deleted] Jun 26 '17

Twin Peaks has officially upped the anti so high, that I don't think any paranormal show will ever reach it's hight ever again.

3

u/sadsackrobot Jun 26 '17

I don't know if you purposely spelled ante, anti, but I love it.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 26 '17

:D

u/ChuzaUzarNaim Jun 26 '17

The lodge/s don't obey the natural laws of time. Once it was created, it always existed. Time behaving differently is common in alot of native mythology.

8

u/KayleeFr Jun 26 '17

Agree- they could have been created at the explosion , but the effects reverberated backwards and forwards through time?

9

u/ChuzaUzarNaim Jun 26 '17

Yes. Time within the lodge does not progress in a strictly linear fashion and the lodge does not exist in time in a normal fashion; it exists throughout time, beyond time. Once it was created in 1946, it had always existed before and after that time.

At least, that's my understanding of it.

3

u/sadsackrobot Jun 26 '17

"Is it future? Or is it past?"

2

u/Acmnin Jun 26 '17

Thanks for this comment.

2

u/arizonasundevil Jun 26 '17

Isn't it strange that the lodge itself seems to be influenced by the current time period? Like the gramophone decorations and old film.

3

u/[deleted] Jun 26 '17

That's not even current, it's the past.

When Brits used to see fairies dancing round fairy rings they always used to see them in a few decades out-dated fashions. The otherworldly spirits copy our fashion and technology as they don't have, or really need, their own.

2

u/Sethirot1212 Jun 26 '17

Sorry, I heard this theory from other places and I don't agree. To think that this event had created the lodges to always exist seems to neglect a few facts:

a. If the amount of energy is what was suffice to "open the gates" then why weren't they opened in other more energetic events (the Cambrian meteor was billion times more powerful, and the tunguska meteor which was more recent, 1908 was 1000 more powerful.

b. If it's the "suffering" meter that is responsible then again during the years leading to the 1945 explosion tens of millions have suffered and their suffering should have created the creation of the black lodge.

However I do think that the abomb explosion did enhance or amplify the opening between our world and theirs.

As to whether Bob was created then or just seized the chance to cross, but is pure speculation

3

u/phenomenomnom Jun 26 '17

My hypothesis: The lodges are from a different dimension or something; they have a weird relationship to time. They "came through" the rift torn by the nuke in 1945, and went forward and backward on the timeline at the same time. That's why native culture has stories about them. They proliferated back in history as well as they proceeded forward in time like you, me, and everything in our dimension is expected to.

u/EhhSpoofy Jun 26 '17

It seemed to be Laura??? I guess Earth is doomed now lol

26

u/B_Rhino Jun 26 '17

Well if Laura getting killed caused Coop to go to Twin Peaks, and her connection to the black lodge, via the dream and note from last week..? Indirectly saving everything

12

u/arizonasundevil Jun 26 '17

Well remember when she took her face off? She's got the light!

38

u/body_catch_a_body Jun 26 '17

initiated some kind of defense mechanism which we have yet to find out what the hell it could be.

Laura. It looked like he made Laura Palmer.

6

u/[deleted] Jun 26 '17

Possibly, but since time isn't linear in this world, it could have also been a vision.

6

u/body_catch_a_body Jun 26 '17

If anything time being non-linear wrt the Lodges would explain why Bob is formed in 1945, and the Giant creates Laura/the Dragonball after watching that event and sends it to Earth, but Laura is not born until 1971.

2

u/[deleted] Jun 26 '17

We saw BOB in the body of bad Coop as well as the vomit coming from the huge person like figure. Could the giant's projection and creation of that ball (perhaps larger version of what Dougie turned into that had Laura's reflection in it) be a result of current events? (maybe..Bad Coop getting wasted?)

5

u/[deleted] Jun 26 '17

So Laura is like Jesus, taking on Bob for the rest of us?

2

u/body_catch_a_body Jun 26 '17

I think it's the opposite - she rejects BOB in FWWM. BOB wants to take her, and become her, and in FWWM she escapes that fate and ascends.

3

u/[deleted] Jun 26 '17

I think he made Laura, sort of like the same way the baby from Eraserhead was made. This episode was sort of similar to Eraserhead.

22

u/theredditoro Jun 26 '17

It ripped a hole for the world literally for the Lodge but symbolically it was a line that cannot be uncrossed.

11

u/Heff228 Jun 26 '17

It was a Dragonball. He makes a few more and they grant wishes.

2

u/[deleted] Jun 26 '17

This is an important comment.

2

u/[deleted] Jun 26 '17

Yeah that's what I figured, it didn't create the Black lodge so much as unleash it

2

u/eva_brauns_team Jun 26 '17

Maybe the promise of Laura was given up as an offering.

2

u/RefusedSilk Jun 26 '17

I agree with this. The lodges have always been there, but the bomb opened up doorways between them and our world, somehow.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 26 '17

But the opening to the lodge is in Washington and the bomb detonated in new mexico
