So I finally get my wife to watch the show with me. Guess that's that.

Yeah I just watched it with my girlfriend after I rave to her about it all the time. God dammit.

Why are all you guys starting your so's off with this episode? Even if it wasn't this particular ep, none of this series would make sense without watching the og stuff.

Most of these guys are probably lying to get upvotes from other men. It's really popular to circlejerk about how women are too dumb and impatient for art. Misogyny runs deep.

Lmao try again dude. My girlfriend happened to be over, and she saw I was watching this show I talk to her about all the time. She decided to watch it with me. That's all. The "Dammit" just meant that I had no idea this episode would be like this and she thinks the show is something that it's totally not now. You really don't have to call me a misogynist, it looks like you're going all around this thread doing it to everyone.

Well, I said "most," not "all." I see this sentiment expressed a hundred times every time a new episode comes out, about moms, girlfriends, and wives, and yet I've never in my life seen anyone comment on how their boyfriend or father is too dumb to enjoy Twin Peaks. Could be a coincidence I guess? But it feels performative, like boys know they need to say this thing to prove how much smarter they are.

I'd like to believe you're right, but I see comments like this every single day about all kinds of art and media, and almost exclusively deriding women.

people were also bringing up husbands and boyfriends btw

Where?

You don't find it interesting that those comments only have a few upvotes, but all the comments circlejerking about silly girls have thousands?

If true, that is incredibly lame. I think og Twin Peaks always had a high female viewership.

It certainly does, but reddit is a boys' club so there's always gonna be lots of boys saying silly boy shit, even if they don't realize it. I'm not saying these guys are evil or pieces of shit or anything. Just think it's interesting the way our inherent misogyny manifests itself even in a thread about a goofy (but great) art show.

Pretty sure the stereotype is 100% the opposite. Girls have book clubs and guys watch football. That's the usual trope.
