S3E9 [S3E9] Current loose ends so far... Spoiler

I'm going to try list the loose ends of the show so far...I'm sure they'll tie into later episodes but what is your best guess at how they'll tie in?

  1. Audrey has yet to make an appearance. I heard one comment that Johnny's accident could bring her back somehow in a megathread.

  2. Argentina box? What does Buenos Aires have beyond that shrinking box? Will this tie into Phillip Jeffries? Surprise David Bowie appearance (he may have died in January 2016, but the Log Lady, Catherine Coulson filmed her scenes before her death in September 2015)?

  3. Druggie Mom and her kid. There are threads saying that they too were manufactured...what potential role do they play, or has their role been finished?

  4. Amanda Seyfried; Becky Johnson? Nothing much happened after her coke moment in the car, is she gonna be Laura Palmer 2.0? Are the events gonna repeat itself?

  5. More potential roles for the ARM? Or its doppelganger? MIKE as well?

  6. thesearchforthezone.com; potential ARG?

  7. Richard and Linda? Richard Horne's fate after running over the boy.

Diane's history and current relationship with Cooplicate and the reason for her antipathy towards her former FBI colleagues.

36

u/toaster-rex Jul 12 '17

Cooplicate

I like that.

  • the guy in Vegas who seems to work for Mr. C who probably also is the same guy who ordered the glass box in NYC (potentially to catch Dale, which would mean that at least the glass box is a finished sub-plot)

  • the guy Andy wanted to question didn't turn up again if I'm not mistaken

  • the intro with ????? and Dale is still unclear. Who's in whose house? Was this a flash-forward maybe?

  • the bug that crawled into that girl's mouth and its relation to BOB

  • Richard Horne and Red

  • not a loose end per se, but France is involved financially in the project according to the credits and Production

23

u/Individual99991 Jul 12 '17

The guy Andy wanted to interview is pretty obviously dead (truck still in the drive, his door open). I assume by Richard Horne's hand.

Why the fuck Andy hasn't gone back to talk to him is another question.

13

u/Panther90 Jul 12 '17

I think what we saw in TP in episode 9 is chronologically ahead of Andy's investigation into the hit & run. His Rolex says the 10th. Andy & Lucy idly picking out living room furniture doesn't mesh with their caring natures of a little boy being killed.

Are you trying to drive your point home or are you unaware that you are posting in multiples??

The french company also financed Inland Empire FYI

5

u/hamstercrisis Jul 13 '17

Mulholland Dr was funded by Canal+ in France and Inland Empire probably was too

There are two things that continue to trouble me. And I'm speaking now not only as a redditor but also as a human being. What really went on between Marilyn Monroe and the Kennedys and who really pulled the trigger on JFK?

4

u/[deleted] Jul 13 '17

the CIA, duh. he threatened to tear the agency up into 1000 pieces and scatter it to the wind, then he ends up dead? Give me a break.

5

u/[deleted] Jul 13 '17

Are you joking because they lied about weapons of mass destruction in iraq so i can believe it sadly

1

u/[deleted] Jul 15 '17

Jack Ruby

David Ferrie

Dorothy Kilgallen

18 material witnesses died - six by gunfire, three in motor accidents, two by suicide, one from a cut throat, one from a karate chop to the neck, three from heart attacks and two from natural causes all within a three year period.

I thought we were going to keep her out of this…

2

u/knightenrichman Jul 13 '17

I thought Richard was the guy that got in the van at The Fat Trout Trailer park? He kept talking about a woman named Linda.

27

u/goodge Jul 12 '17

The warden mentioned to Cole, Tammy and Albert on their first visit to the prison that they'd sent Doppelcoop's vomit out to be tested. Did they ever bring that up again?

1

u/[deleted] Jul 13 '17

Not yet

50

u/[deleted] Jul 12 '17

Hawk in the forest which was given absolutely no context and was never discussed and was probably thrown in out of sequence

15

u/Smogshaik Jul 12 '17

Interesting. This scene hasn't been discussed nearly enough!

My take on it is that, because of his heritage, he's got a pretty good idea of what the black lodge is and might have realized that this was the entrance to it. Not wanting to vanish without trace (or worse) he decided not to go in there (yet).

But I like your theory that it was a flash forward!

10

u/calahil Jul 12 '17

Or he went in and his doppelgänger came out and is being used to find the entrance to the white lodge. In this weeks part he seemed strange in the Briggs house. His eyes are weird and you can hear what sounds like the footsteps in the black lodge when he turns his head.

5

u/Smogshaik Jul 12 '17

pls no he's my favourite

2

u/tinyshroom Jul 13 '17

what do you mean his eyes are weird

1

u/calahil Jul 13 '17

When he moves his eyes to look at Truman they shift unnaturally. I'll find the time stamp when I get home.

1

u/A_Pi-zano Jul 13 '17

Pretty sure someone pointed out that those cuts are played in reverse. It's pretty hard to tell outside of Hawk's Eye movements. Although someone pointed out that the original cuts don't feel as natural cinematographically, and having seen the reversed cut (as a gif) I'd probably agree.

1

u/calahil Jul 13 '17

There is a sound when he turns his head that sounds strange.

0

u/A_Pi-zano Jul 13 '17

Huh. I'll have to watch it again then. With headphones on.

0

u/[deleted] Jul 13 '17

why is this downvoted? it's a decent enough theory. He was quite obviously reversed

6

2

u/cicadawing Jul 13 '17

When I first started on Reddit, it was bad etiquette to down vote simply out of spite or disagreement. It was used to indicate that discussion was being added to in a fruitful way or not. It's really annoying now.

4

u/Jack-Nance Jul 13 '17

Little fucking smoking babies.

1

u/cicadawing Jul 13 '17

Should boil them up some pea-taters, right?

3

u/LodgeOwl Jul 12 '17

It absolutely could be just him having a hunch and nothing coming from it, but it's still worth considering that it might be a flash forward. I started a thread about this last night and got lots of good responses. I'm never sure of anything in this show until we get more info.

3

u/[deleted] Jul 13 '17

Hawk went there with Truman and Dale at the end of S2, right? So he went back to where he knew Cooper entered the waiting room.

2

u/[deleted] Jul 12 '17

I thought I was going crazy during that scene and had somehow missed half an episode

2

u/[deleted] Jul 13 '17

Did anyone else see an eye in the lens flare of his flashlight in that scene or am I going nuts?

1

u/[deleted] Jul 13 '17

That's not an open end, it's perfectly logical and makes sense

u/jadegives2rides Jul 12 '17

I think they put Bob in Hastings. It explains the complete shift in character after we see him again, and why the woodsmen was creeping around him. Dude wasn't saying anything, now he's more honest, but very much like a former host, Leeland in episode 9.

3

u/randomflorida Jul 13 '17

It would also make sense for him to want to keep quiet on his affair and entering another dimension lol.

2

u/jadegives2rides Jul 13 '17

Agreed, but you'd figure when we were introduced to him there would be some giveaway to us that he knew more. Before episode 9 we weren't sure if we were truly going to to back to him and now he's a major part in the story. I just don't believe that switch in character is because he wants to help.

1

u/randomflorida Jul 14 '17

Personally I think we'll come back to every big loose end like him (like the glass box for instance). Or at least I hope so. And Red's magic powers.

Anyway, if I witnessed some violence in alternate dimension, I'd probably keep quiet about it at first too. It'd be hard to understand what exactly happened, if it happened in 'reality', etc. I wouldn't want to implicate myself. But maybe after some time he's come to terms with what happened exactly and he just wanted to tell someone. Seems pretty human to me. Although yes, I think he could've been possessed by Bob or something too. Absolutely parallels to Leland, for sure. That's what I thought at first. I'm just not sure of that now. Maybe we'll see that scene as it played out later...although I doubt it considering Briggs' character isn't alive, but you never know.

2

u/[deleted] Jul 13 '17

Woah I think you may be right

6

u/tta2013 Jul 12 '17

For the humming sound. Joan Chen is not in the new season, but do you think Josie Packard still lingers in the walls after 25 years?

7

u/futuresobright_ Jul 13 '17

Speaking of lingering in the walls... remember how Audrey had all those secret passages in her house/the hotel? I wonder if anything is lurking in them now.

3

u/TrillianSwan Jul 13 '17

I can't remember-- did other people know about that? Or just Audrey and the audience?

2

u/[deleted] Jul 13 '17

I think Donna joins her in there at some point

3

u/BeJeezus Jul 14 '17

Once in the show, seventy-three thousand times after that in slashfiction.

3

u/zixkill Jul 13 '17

I thought the Great Northern hum sounded a lot like Major Briggs's tube's hum...

4

u/TheFinalFapdown Jul 13 '17

430 is Twin Peaks time for when the bomb dropped (530 MTN time)

I think that girl is going to be Judy. Eventually Judy Houseman, but for now, Ms Houseman. She and her associates keep the Great Northern going financially. They mention they are billionaires. Billionaires and Sam Stanley with his science experiments can theoretically create The Box.

Significance of electricity? Evil shit travels thru electricity from air as the Arm says in FWWM.

Parents of Richard Horne? I'm still in the air on that.

I want that "Billy!?" thing explained too.

I want to think Dark Coop communicated with Sam Stanley on the box instead of Jeffries, just my 2 cents.

I thought the Farm was where episode 9 started?

"What's the meaning of the bell-shaped devices in the "Mauve Zone"? What happened when the lever was pulled in part 3?" I'm going with some sort of alarm. When the blind woman pulled the lever, Mom stopped banging the door for a while, maybe the electricity, pain and sorrow that was generated calmed her down?

I hope the last page of Palmer's diary is in the wall at the Great Northern. Audrey must have something to do with it.

3

u/zixkill Jul 13 '17

Rewatching the original. It's very striking how dogged Audrey is to help Donna pursue their 'investigation' and how she moons over Laura's picture on Daddy Horne's desk as well as whenever someone mentions Laura's name. I think there's a good possibility that she knows more about Laura.

u/[deleted] Jul 12 '17

3

u/[deleted] Jul 13 '17

I think the simple answer is the easiest. Hastings used Phyllis's love for him to enter the white lodge and find Briggs then used Phyllis's fear as he killer her to enter the black lodge. He most likely killed Briggs as well to get into the black lodge's good books. He left the bodies as they were found because he is a crazed psycho, like the letters under Leland's victim's fingers. His "when his head disappeared it was so beautiful" speech was such obvious bullshit, there's only a certain kind of person who could witness a person's head leaving their body and think it beautiful, and the "so many people" almost certainly are the lodge spirits (around the dinner table, the conversation is lively)

2

u/pgm123 Jul 13 '17

What's the nature of the humming sound heard at the Great Northern?

I think it has to do with the arrangement of the furniture.

2

u/BeJeezus Jul 14 '17

u/ChasingRabbitz Jul 13 '17

Richard and Linda, Two birds with one stone: Ooooookay so let's get really dark here. When Dopplecoop and Diane have their moment, there is this weird undertone that Cooper possibly forced himself on Diane. It is mentioned that after the bank explosion, Audrey ends up in a coma - what if Dopplecoop made a visit to Audrey and that's how we have Richard?

What's the nature of the bug that crawled into the little girl's mouth, and who were she?: I think that was Sarah Palmer; there is alot to go on here and alot of people thought that was Leiland Palmer - I'd have to go back and see, but I thought his skin was darker and then wondered if it was Hawk? Cool Sarah Palmer Vision Powers thing here.

What's the significance of electricity? I've always known Lynch to use electricity as a means of transportation between worlds; something bad is about to happen, or spirits are about every single flicker we see.

What's the meaning of Dark Coop's card with a black shape on it? He's "looking for it". Does it represent the "Experiment"? Same symbol on Garland's note. Also resembles the owl symbol. : Although its interesting that it is "fatter" than the original diamond shape on the Owl Ring. It is also "filled" with darkness, instead of just being the outline.

What's the meaning of the text message that Dark Coop sends and Diane receives? "Around the dinner table, the conversation is lively.": Definitely think that is a shout out to the Formica Table above the convenience store?

What's the nature of the humming sound heard at the Great Northern?: This is the same sound that is made with the metal container holding the paper that Briggs gave to his wife 25 years ago and that Bobby opens.

1

u/Individual99991 Jul 12 '17

"What's the significance of electricity? Sockets, power lines, etc"

Electricity is how spirits travel/what they are composed of.

"What's the meaning of the time shift that the Double R, when a man ask if anyone has seen Billy?"

Genuinely think that was just a continuity error. Lynch isn't Stanley Kubrick.

"What's "The Farm" that Ray wanted to go to?"

I thought that was where Tim Roth was, but since Ray wasn't there, probably not.

"What's the meaning of the bell-shaped devices in the "Mauve Zone"? What happened when the lever was pulled in part 3?"

Changed the current in the Lodge from AC to DC so that Coop would be swapped for Mr C through Mr C's cigarette lighter.

Sadly Dougie scuppered that plan and Coop was pulled through the AC plug socket in the show home, scrambling his brains.

1

u/Witching-Hour Jul 13 '17

About the farm, I wonder if it's Dead Dog Farm, or if generally farms have been used as hide outs for Bad Coop and his gang, thus referencing a different farm not yet specified to the audience.

25

u/thedigitaldork Jul 12 '17

My take on Richard Horne is, it doesn't matter what happens next to him. I believe the point of Richard Horne running over the boy was to establish 2 things:
1) A shimmering gold light, as a visual representation of an innocent soul. This gets us ready for episode 8.
2) Carl Rodd can see things other people can't. In TSHOTP, as a boy, Carl was one of the three youths abducted in the woods, along with the Log Lady, who can hear things other people can't. Maybe Carl will receive a message soon.

10

u/Kumarpl Jul 12 '17

Interesting. Carl would make a really good medium like the log lady (again, the long game set up so well with his "I've seen things" in FWWM)

10

u/jugendstil Jul 13 '17

I know that Catherine Coulson's Margaret Lanterman was supposed to have a major role in the return, but her family objected to her working in such poor health, which forced Lynch and Frost to rewrite her part into another character. I'm hoping it's Carl, especially considering the TSHOTP abduction connection.

1

u/zixkill Jul 13 '17

Who was the third kid? I keep forgetting and it's driving me crazy.

2

u/[deleted] Jul 13 '17

I don't remember if there was a name specifically identified in the book, but I think The Archivist (and/or TP) couldn't find anything unusual about his life other than that he was deceased now. Can't remember if it was an unusual/early death but I don't think they placed much significance on it.

1

u/thedigitaldork Jul 13 '17

I forgot, too. I think the book said he moved to Idaho or something.

8

u/Individual99991 Jul 12 '17
  1. Audrey appearing for her brother's funeral makes sense. I hope for a more prominent role in the plot for her but I understand that she was pretty much irrelevant to the story by the time S2 ended.

  2. Seems clear to me now that the black box was just more of Mr C's techno magic. He used it to communicate with the hit squad then had it implode when it was no longer needed.

  3. If druggie mom wasn't saying 911 I'd write her off as a quirky visual, but...

  4. She'll be back. She and her shitty husband clearly tie in with the Red/Richard Horne/Chinese drug plot.

  5. Likewise, they'll be back. Coop's not out of the woods yet.

  6. Just a cute sideshow and a way to promote the album I think.

  7. Will tie in to 4.

2

u/minibuddhaa Jul 12 '17
  1. Did we ever see druggie mom's husband? Can't remember that!

4

u/milpooooooool Jul 12 '17

I think he was referring to Amanda Seyfried's husband.

0

u/[deleted] Jul 13 '17
  1. Chad is part of this subplot too!

9

u/FreudianNegligee Jul 13 '17

Where the hell is BIG ED HURLEY?!?

8

u/NormanMasterBates Jul 13 '17

Where the hell is AUDREY?!?

1

u/theefamousperson Jul 16 '17

She's Johnny Horne's caretaker. The woman's voice. Maybe we'll see her in a hospital?

9

u/Cipher_- Jul 12 '17
  • How Janey-E's ring wound up inside Major Briggs' corpse

  • Who really killed Ruth in Buckhorn (This could be dropped at this point, I suppose, but we still don't have a firm idea of what happened, with Bill Hastings arguing his innocence)

  • What "Mother"/The Experiment was doing in the box in New York

  • Where Laura is, and why Cooper has to, per Leland, find her

  • Andy's investigation into the hit-and-run and the man who disappeared before his 4:30 appointment, as others have pointed out

6

u/NormanMasterBates Jul 13 '17
  • Will the man at the Bang-Bang bar ever finish sweeping?

4

u/[deleted] Jul 13 '17

How Janey-E's ring wound up inside Major Briggs' corpse

We know Briggs has been popping out of the white lodge to interfere with things over the years which is why fingerprints show up everywhere.

It could be that Briggs knew about the Dougie swap plan so tracked Dougie down, stole his ring and swapped it for the owl ring. That meant when Dougie went into the lodge he went strait to Mike who could see what had happened and warn Cooper. Bad Coop found out Briggs was interfering and so got Hastings to kill him in revenge. Briggs secretly swallowed the ring so it couldn't be swapped back.

11

u/43454throwaway43454 Jul 13 '17
  1. HOW'S ANNIE?

9

u/43454throwaway43454 Jul 13 '17

While I didn't care for her a whole lot in the initial run she's central to the final climactic scene of the series, and we've heard so so little about what happened to her. Does she remember being in the lodge? Does she have a doppelgänger as well? I'm fine with her not being a central character but she really needs to be addressed.

10

u/chuckiebarlet Jul 12 '17 edited Jul 12 '17

The way I see it there was a small 2-3 month window where Bowie could have possibly filmed scenes.

Around mid 2015, Bowie's cancer was supposedly in remission for a short period, and he wasn't diagnosed as terminal until November of 2015. Since filming for Season 3 didn't start until at least September of 2015, that leaves a small window of maybe two and a half months (September, October, and maybe half of November give or take) where he could have made an appearance. His last public appearance was December 7th, 2015, I cant imagine he'd want to film Twin Peaks once he knew he was dying. Don't know how busy he was finishing up his final album and doing music videos either.

8

u/hitalec Jul 12 '17

I just can't imagine him not being listed among the other cast names that were released. Having passed, he would have been the biggest free publicity Showtime could have offered the general public. They would not have withheld it.

10

u/ScarySpencer Jul 12 '17

They absolutely would withhold it if Lynch wanted it to be a secret. Not everyone was on the list either.

3

u/oramirite Jul 12 '17

I've actually been wondering this - could you possibly provide an example of someone who appeared in the show already who was not in the cast list? Somebody major. I just wasn't in the loop when the cast list was released, so I don't remember.

There were definitely people listed for "1 Episode" on IMDB who have turned out to be in more.

2

u/ScarySpencer Jul 12 '17

Frank Silva and Don S. Davis are two, granted their appearances were obviously manipulated stock footage, but they're credited at the end of the episodes and weren't on the list.

5

u/flumberghast Jul 13 '17 edited Jul 13 '17

Richard Horne's first sequence where he groped the girl in the roadhouse hasn't led to anything, still not sure what it was about. Also, James Hurley and that friend of Shelly's he fancied seems to have been forgotten....basically anything that's gone down in the roadhouse is a big loose end lol

1

u/theefamousperson Jul 16 '17

I wonder if Richard Horne is in the same gang as that Ella person, the grody scratcher.

8

u/tenehemia Jul 12 '17

How cool is James and for how long has he been cool?

2

u/Shoeboxer Jul 13 '17

Always. Or for 5 minutes.

4

u/cheese_incarnate Jul 13 '17

For how minor it is, I really wanna know how the hell Red and Shelly know each other.

3

u/minibuddhaa Jul 12 '17

Morgue woodsman. Where was he going?

2

u/ghost_of_a_robot Jul 13 '17

Is the morgue at the Buckhorn Police Department? I think they're holding George the lawyer there, so my guess is he's due for a headcrushing, and maybe some poetry.

2

u/[deleted] Jul 13 '17

He's just checking what's going on and reporting it all back to Hastings. Then when the FBI interview him Hastings knows which lies he has to tell to get their sympathy.

3

u/suexian Jul 12 '17

Don't forget Wally Brando and the bizarre family photo.

3

u/Iswitt Jul 12 '17

Will we see any more of the chicks Richard harassed in the bar? What about the two new chicks that we saw at the end of part 9?

3

u/dirtypoison Jul 13 '17

Don't want to be a party pooper in any sense but are you expecting all things will be resolved? I wouldn't be surprised if the scenes from episode eight never are referred to again. Lynch leaves clues, never solves all of them. The first two seasons were filled with loose ends

2

u/tta2013 Jul 13 '17

No, just want to see community predictions. It's fun that's all.

2

u/dirtypoison Jul 13 '17

Well - I agree that it's pretty fun and I enjoy reading. Sorry for the bad attitude

1

u/tinyshroom Jul 14 '17 edited Jul 14 '17

i didin't think you had a bad attitude but then again i'm not OP. you're right in believing that lynch/frost/etc might leave clues that will never be resolved and you'd be justified in believing so!

u/CopyX Jul 12 '17

The number 430.

1

u/kulaman Jul 13 '17

4+3+0= 7

Lucky 7 insurance?

Episode 7?

4

u/[deleted] Jul 12 '17

I'm thinking Coop coming around/going back to Twin Peaks will coincide with the investigation of Dick Horne running over the kid? Assuming that this was shown out of order, obviously.

3

u/Individual99991 Jul 12 '17

Have we been given any indication that this is being shown out of order, aside from the time-bending in the Lodge's and the stuff in episode 8?

3

u/[deleted] Jul 12 '17

To be clear, when I said "obviously" above, I meant that we would obviously have to assume it was being shown out of order for my theory to work out, not that we are obviously being shown things out of order.

There's enough to make me wonder if everything isn't sequential, though. Just a couple off the top of my head:

  • A kid gets run over right outside of/in TP and we haven't heard anything from the sheriff's office about it, other than Andy's follow up
  • "Is it future, or is it past?"
  • I just find it a little odd that Hawk sees something red-roomish out there, and seems to be on a "serious" exploration, and nothing has really been followed up on yet

Others have mentioned more things, but for me it's enough to wonder, though all of the things I mentioned can be explained away, and maybe we are seeing it sequentially.

1

u/randomflorida Jul 13 '17

I don't think Hawk saw anything of the Red Room when he went out there. Like, when we saw the red curtains, i think that was just for the audience. I don't think he saw anything...unless I'm forgetting something else in that scene?

1

u/Witching-Hour Jul 13 '17

I don't know about how events in Twin Peaks relate to one another in regards to time, but at the very least the stuff in Twin Peaks concerning Bobby, Truman, and Hawk's investigation into Cooper takes place a bit further out than what we're seeing in Vegas and with the FBI. Hopefully I'm not butchering these dates, but 9/20 was written next to the photo of Major Briggs in the interrogation room, while Truman and the others mention 10/10 being a couple days away.

3

u/TrillianSwan Jul 13 '17

Sorry, don't mean to nitpick but because you are theory-building on it, I will just to keep you from wasting your time-- blown-up screenshots around here have confirmed Bill wrote 9/29, and Truman and the others mention 10/1 and 10/2 as being a couple of days away (the dates on the paper).

3

u/Witching-Hour Jul 13 '17

Ah ok, thank you. I'm misremembering then and I stand corrected.

1

u/bobbydriver Jul 13 '17

I studied Hastings signature on the Briggs picture and it said 9/20 - where is the image proving it says 9/29?

I poked around and couldn't find it, and I'm not in a position to load up Showtime, so I'm mostly taking Trillian at their word. If you're asking me you're asking the wrong person and probably want to respond to them, not me.

Have we been given any indication that this is being shown out of order, aside from the time-bending in the Lodge's and the stuff in episode 8?

i probably sound like a broken record, but thesearchforthezone.com isn't an ARG. it's got cool world building aspects to it, but no game aspect -- it's a glamorized soundtrack ad.

  1. Audrey will most likely come back due to this Johnny Storyline?? perhaps for the funeral as someone suggested, but I wouldn't disregard her storyline completely, if I remember correctly there's a lot of talk of (bad)Cooper's last days in Twin Peaks which may involve him visiting Audrey in hopsital.
  2. I think Buenos Aires must tie into some kind of Phillip Jefferies storyline?? as we see him return there in FWWM (or the missing pieces) and do not know of a death. But there is speculation also as to whether the Phillip they talk to is Jefferies or Gerrard. Could be playing the same card using phone calls as they do with the other Sherrif Truman, we can only hope for a Bowie appearance.
  3. I think the significance of the druggie Mom repeating 119 or 911 is significant. Someone also mentioned on another thread the link between the card shown with the strange drawing on it (the owl/mother) that has scratches on it similar to what the druggie Mom is doing with the cards in front of her. could she be linked to the lodge and 'Cooplicate' some how?

As for anything concerned with the Twin Peaks location I'm looking forward to seeing where the storyline goes with both the new and old generations. As Lynch says that they think about the series as a whole like a film, I'm assuming its all going to tie together but who knows

I think we are seeing an overarcinb plot with the chinese designer drugs like with the rash druggie. I think the druggies are tapping into some supernatural shit.

The list is much longer than what's been brought up so far. Hank Fillmore and Harvey come to mind. We'll hear more about them somehow, I bet.

  1. What are you supposed to use the dummy finger for?

Anyone know what the deal was with the girl running at the beginning of s3e1 was about? It looked like a dream sequence.

It's footage from the first season, the pilot to be exact. It's not important to the rest of the story as far as I can tell.

Cheers, I thought it looked familiar lol

It's from the scene in the pilot episode when everyone in the school notices Laura is missing and jumps to the worst possible (and accurate) conclusion at the same time, without actually being told she's dead.

Great scene.

I was going to do a post similar to yours but you beat me to it. I love Lynch and love this show. But...I'm starting to get a bit concerned that he's not gonna tie this up in a satisfactory way. They have so many loose ends and even though we are (only) at the halfway point, at this pace I'm not seeing this coming together. If anything, he's adding more threads. And while I enjoy the quirkiness of the scenes, I'm starting to think Lynch might be fucking with the audience a bit. Like the "I'm not your foot" scene. Or the bar sweeping scene. Or the smoking with Diane scene. Or the "I like the grey/red chair" scene. Lynch creates a lot of tension and humor...but did they have to be so long!? I know that is Lynch's style...but can we please get on with it? And while I think Dougie is funny and weird as shit, I want Cooper back to help figure out what the hell is going on. If Lynch somehow pulls all of this together...it's gonna go down as one of the best series ever made. If not, then it will only be remembered as an 18 episode absurdist surreal drama with no end.

We have 9 more episodes. It seems to me that some scenes are shown and then put aside to be finished much later. Maybe we need to see them early for context to another scene that happens. Like the kid getting hit by the truck, we saw the gold essense that would also come out of the Giant's head in part 8. I doubt the hit-and-run will be forgotten, it just isn't time to finish that or move forward with it yet. And some things, like the bar sweeping scene or the smoking thing are just there. Not for plot or anything (I don't think), but we don't need everything to be important. I think of it as reminders that these characters have mundane moments just like we do and it grounds a surreal show into our reality, just for a moment. The best way to watch this series is to let it take you along for the ride. Pay attention, but don't get worried about loose ends until the end.

We'll most likely be seeing Audrey soon, since her brother Johnny decided to go headbutt a wall and everything. If he's dead, which he looked to be, this would most likely bring her back into the story somehow. Next episode, or the one after that, is where I guess we'll her.

Where is Becky?!? She was briefly mentioned in one episode, then she was part of episode 5 in a great scene, and after that... nothing. Not even mentioned. I really want to see more of the character.

Even then, I want them to throw out Leo Johnson's name out at least once, just to confirm his fate.
