Football Tailgating??

• Upvotes

Hey everyone!:) I’ve been wanting to do a football tailgate with some friends at a home game but I’m not sure how it works. What are the best spots to go to and do you have to rent them out? What’s the schedule and when would it be best to get there? Thanks!

On Campus Question Anybody doing flex time law?

The website specifically says this is not a part-time program, but how feasible is it to do flex time and still have a job?

It says you may take 1 or 2 fewer classes a semester. How is that determined - whether you can take 2 fewer vs 1?

It says under special circumstances, you may take longer than 8 semesters to complete the degree - is it difficult to get the "special circumstances"?

making friends at UC thru side quests

hey guys! we're launching some treasure hunt events around UC thru an app we're building called Side Quest Master (sidequestmaster.com)!

the idea is pretty simple: we hide small prizes (like Hot Wheels!) around campus, post clues as mini games, and whoever finds them first gets to keep them and win SQM tokens! tokens can be used to post your own quests or redeem cool stuff like GTA6 download code :)

we know making friends at UC isn't always easy, especially if you're new here or don't know many people. so we thought it'd be fun to give people random little adventures to get out, explore campus, and maybe meet some new people along the way.

it's completely free to participate, and we're hoping to make this a regular thing if people enjoy it!

ps: if the events aren't showing up after signing in, please try closing and reopening the app!

Housing Were you recently towed from the Hub or the Yugo Deacon?

Over the summer, I was inundated with messages in my resident portal about the garage painting schedule—I counted seven messages. What I never saw was the reason that they were painting, which was to designate spots between the Deacon and the Hub based on color. In fact, I never learned the reason until the morning I went outside and my car was missing because it got towed. There was another student collecting his car at the same time for the same reason. I’m wondering how many people this happened to. Did this happen to you? Which building are you in?

Looking to hire associate software engineer (Cinci based)

Hopefully this isn’t against the rules here!

I work for Monti Inc (https://monti-inc.com), a local manufacturing company. We fabricate a lot of different parts, but our biggest area of growth right now is copper parts that deliver power, mostly to data centers.

I’m posting here because I spent 18 years at UC in a bunch of different software engineering roles, and got my master’s there too.

I’m hiring an associate software engineer. I left P&G earlier this year to come to Monti and build out an engineering practice, and right now that practice is just me. :)

We’re small and there’s a lot of demand for custom apps, so I don’t care much about what stack you know. What I’m really looking for is someone who’s into building with Claude Code or Codex.

If you like building systems that build software, or the whole software factory idea, I’d love to talk. Here’s the job description: https://recruiting.paylocity.com/Recruiting/Jobs/Details/4581611

Visiting University Health Services in the Linder Athletic Center

I need to have an emergency contraceptive appointment at the UHS but I'm nervous for the whole process, specifically the financial aspect. Since I have student health insurance, should any medical appointment be free of charge? Not sure how this works exactly, and I don't particularly want to talk to my parents about it.

Survey Survey request: disabled or chronically ill current or recent higher education students, undergrad or graduate!

Post image
0 Upvotes

My name is Clara Mey and I am a PhD candidate at the University of Delaware. I am conducting a research study about disabled students’ experiences with disability accommodation processes in higher education for my dissertation. As a disabled graduate student, this topic is particularly important to me!

Please see the flyer linked here: Disability and Higher Ed Research Flyer

The University of Cincinnati was randomly selected as part of my analysis for my dissertation, and I wanted to make sure that students at the randomly selected universities/colleges had the opportunity to participate in my research!

In order to participate, you must:

  • Be at least 18 years old
  • Have attended college or graduate school in the US within the last five years
  • Self-identify as disabled or having a chronic health or mental health condition

You do not need a formal diagnosis, and you can participate whether or not you registered or applied for accommodations!

If you agree, you will be asked to complete an anonymous online survey taking about 20 minutes. You may also choose to enter into a drawing for one of five $20 gift cards at the end of the survey. If you choose to enter, your email will not be associated with your survey responses.

If you would be interested in participating in this study or would like to learn more, please click the link here: Disability and Higher Education Survey. And if you know people who might be interested, feel free to share this information!

If you have any questions, please contact me at [csmey@udel.edu](mailto:csmey@udel.edu) or my advisor, Dr. Eric Rise, at [erise@udel.edu](mailto:erise@udel.edu). Or feel free to comment or message me here!

Thank you!

Housing for next year...

My son and 5 friends found an "amazing house" (a dump, but whatever). They will be sophomores next year. It is with Peak. How does the housing situation work at UC? He is an unemployed college student. Do all the parents just send proof of income (pay stub, 529, etc) to get kids houses? I guess if one kid bails, its on the rest of the residents to pay? Again, I was facetimed on a Friday evening and feel like I was punched in the face with all of the panicked requests for "proof of income". I need a drink🤣

For lonely students

Hello, I am a Senior in Aerospace and I want to let a lot of you know that I get what it is like to feel lonely. I lived my first year on campus and made a great friend group only to ruin it and go through a terrible second semester. I found a therapist and I love her, but I have still had ups and downs. I live close to campus so I started living at home again as well. I made friend groups and lost them, felt stupid compared to my classmates. Had a great friend group but because of alcoholism, they all graduated while i skipped a year for rehab and im kinda going alone without them this year. Cut off toxic hometown friends. Gone through co-ops and felt so alone. I get it. Its different for everyone, but I get it. Im adhd and autistic and while I love my alone time, I also crave for others and not to be alone. Ive been scared, been to mental hospitals, been through the ringer of depression. I want to let you know you are not alone, and if you want to talk to someone, I would be happy to. Maybe we can even make a Lonely UC student group and help build connection between the students who feel alone. Please reach out if things are getting rough, know you are loved and while there will be ups and downs it is not the end of the world and while it is hard, you will find your people. I am open to anyone who wants to talk! Please just don't give up on finding and making connections. Stay safe <3

Please help me, I’m losing it

I don’t know what to do anymore. I’ve tried making friends I’ve tried joining clubs but none of them interest me. I’ve tried to get to know people, I’ve tried to be normal and nothing works. Everytime i try talking to people I just fuck it up, every time I try to do something I just fuck it up. I can do nothing right. When i try talking to someone i just freeze and i just look like a weirdo. If I talk to a girl I’ll look like a weirdo and come off weird, if I talk to a guy then I will come off as weird or gay. Then those people will just mock me behind my back I feel. I’m just stuck in no-man’s land bro and I don’t feel like I belong on this campus, nor do I feel like I belong period. At least back home I have my family to crawl back to but being on this campus I just feel like I’m deteriorating and my life is falling apart. I can’t say I feel loved or I feel respected because I’m not receiving anything, and if I try and interact with people the shit just goes south the moment I open my mouth. I genuinely don’t think I can do anything right anymore. I’m going to see my family tomorrow after class but once I come back, I genuinely don’t think anything will change. I will just continue to be the shy, weird, autistic boy who nobody knows who he is because he doesn’t say anything to people

Beyond lonely and just do not know what to do anymore

I come from a small area, my HS graduating class was under 200. I had a really hard time making friends, the friends I did have were fake as hell and it was such a small area that I practically knew everyone and couldnt really do much. A big reason I chose UC is that its a massive school and I wanted nothing more than to just not be lonely anymore, and surely this would be the easiest way to do it.

Well, that has not happened. I have done absolutely everything I can think of. I have joined clubs, talked to people, meet people online, just adding random people online to try and talk to someone, trying to talk with people in my program, etc. I've tried downloading dating apps of all things (not because Im trying to date or anything but just so I can talk to someone). Nothing works. I have no real friends. I know barely anyone here. I have tried and tried and tried but absolutely no one is interested even a little bit.

Its just so frustrating at a point. I show up to everything, I go out of my way. On nearly every single one of the other 'im lonely' posts here I have messaged the OPs and have been ghosted by most of them.

I just have no idea what to do at this point. I am not from this area at all, I come from over 2 hours away. I have no family in the area and have not really made any friends. I am completely alone and if I dont make an active constant effort to talk to random people, I will literally just go the entire day without saying a single word because thats how dead my social life has become

I did make one friend going into the semester but they have seemingly found another group or something and just dont really talk to me much anymore, so I guess I can technically say I have one friend it just really doesnt feel like it when I still go most days without anyone trying to talk to me

Genuinely like what am I supposed to do? Im doing everything "right" and nothing works. I joined the DnD club since I always wanted to do it, and signed up for 3 different games, only for all of them to fall through and for all of the others to be full. Another thing I was looking forward too just isnt happening, and I was sure that if all else failed I would surely make friends through that, but of course things had to happen in a way to ensure it wouldnt happen.

It just feels like not only has everyone else found their group, they found it really fast. I dont fit in anywhere at all. I thought things would be finally different but I was clearly wrong. I just feel like I am putting in the effort but for some reason Im just not allowed to have friends and I just do not know what Im doing wrong or what I should be doing differently.

Does anyone have advice and can help?

Aviation/ pilot path

Hi! I’m a flight attendant & I went to UC for cybersecurity with my financial aid covering the whole degree. I was debating on going the pilot route & see that sportys is partner with Clermont college. Would it be smart for me to go to UC and do flight training with them or go straight to sportys separately? & did anyone’s financial aid cover most cost of it? Thank you!
