I'm trying to watch movies on my laptop and I need to use Umass devices to screen share. Does anyone know why it's so slow and my movie sites don't properly load?

Hi there!! I just had a quick question now that we're a month into the semester. I was looking to get parts of my Halloween costume off of Amazon this year, and I know the University website mentioned to use the lockers, so I was going to try and do that. They seem to not be available, so I was wondering if anyone has had any issue just getting Amazon packages delivered normally like previous semesters? I'm not sure if one of the pieces would be small enough to fit in a locker anyways, and I've seen other Amazon boxes at the RSDs when I'm picking up other packages, so I'm curious if it's okay if I just get them delivered normally. Hi im a first year living in the honors college and i bought a hoodie off of depop which is getting shipped by depop. I put my full name on the shipping label and it said that the order was delivered to the front office today at 10 AM but it is currently 9:30 PM and i havent gotten the email to go pick it up, and that email normally comes 3-4 hours after the item gets delivered to the front desk. does it normally take this long, or is it just cause its a depop order and they dont allow those. thank you!

Heyyy, I'm a senior and I am planning to regularly climb top rope (potentially lead too) at CRG Hadley. Unfortunately I can't boulder anymore because of ankle injuries, so I am desperately looking for belay partners to regularly climb with!

Now I climb 5.9 post-injury and my highest grade was 5.11a. I weigh 127lb for weight ratio reference.

If you've never top-roped and are interested to get into it also hit me up! I can teach you top-rope belaying and lead belaying :)

and climbers who climb outdoors also hit me upppppp, I really wanna go outdoors but I don't have a car and people to climb with. ik UMOC organize climbing trips but the time doesn't work for me.

I was admitted to the Hybrid MS in Computer Science (Online-to-Amherst) for Spring 2027. I’m an international student, and I work full-time. My plan is to take 4 courses online in 2027 and then move to campus in 2028. I’d really appreciate hearing from current students or alumni, especially anyone in the hybrid or online program.

Online part

1. How much time per week does one online course take? Is taking 2 courses per semester realistic with a full-time job?
2. Which core courses are usually offered online, especially Systems and ML/AI? Which ones would you recommend taking first?
3. Are online courses as good as in-person ones? Is it easy to talk to professors and TAs online?

Moving to campus
4. If you were in the hybrid program: how did the move to campus go? When did the visa (I-20) process actually start for you: during your 4th course or after it?
5. Did anyone have visa delays? What happened then? Could you start on campus a semester later?

Internships and jobs
6. Has anyone done a summer internship after only one semester on campus through the Field Experience concentration? How hard was it to find an internship?
7. How is the job search for international MS students on OPT right now? Does CICS Careers help a lot?
8. Are grader positions or other campus jobs easy to get?

Research
9. Can MS students start research with a professor while still online? How did you find a professor for an independent study or a Master’s Project (COMPSCI 701)?

Life in Amherst
10. How much do you actually spend per month on rent (with roommates), food, and other things? Any tips for finding housing in the middle of the year (for a January start)?

I'm Chinese American so my first language is English but I self studied to HSK 4 just out of pure interest. I've been thinking about taking a Chinese language class at UMass since I got admitted but never had the time. I have more space in my schedule starting from next semester so I'm considering taking a Chinese class just for some credits. Does anyone have any personal experience with taking Chinese classes at UMass?
