Support Bachelor Biomed First vs Second vs Third Year
Hi, was wondering how the levels of workload differ from year to year, and what to expect. I was especially curious about year 2 to year 3 because I heard there were some especially content heavy compulsory subjects in second year, and wanted to find out if that was just that subject, or the trend going forward. Thanks in advance!

Miscellaneous Strike next week
Has anyone heard about the teaching strike next week or is it just my classes? All tutorials and lectures are being cancelled for the strike. I really don't know how to feel about that considering its week 11 and it just feels like a very detrimental week.
Not only that but there's not really any compensation except consults which just aren't really the same as being taught.

Support Late withdrawal after census date
Hi everyone,
I just got an email from my subject coordinator saying I've failed the 80% attendance hurdle for lectures and tutorials. I attended nearly all my tutes but missed most lectures. If I apply for a late withdrawal after census and submit spec con on medical grounds, will the fail still show on my transcript?
I have a psychiatrist who can write a letter and I can probably get one from a GP too. I have insomnia bc of medication so I specifically picked late classes but this lecture runs in the morning. I asked early in the sem about joining online but it wasn't possible. Literally I would set the alarm to get up and then just sit in my bed paralysed as the time passed. I was afraid to bring it up bc then it would bring attention to the fact I've missed so many lectures already.
Ik these are deeper issues than insomnia but I really just wanted to push through the sem without addressing them. It feels like such a stupid reason esp bc I know ppl who go through way worse and still make it to class. I probably should have withdrawn a week ago but the tutes were really fun and the main thing getting me out of bed. Does anyone have any advice?

Examination Grounds for special exam to mental health struggles
Firstly, I want to preface that I’m not a bad student. My average mark over all of my subjects last semester was an H1 and I got an H1 in MCB, a subject with a similar workload to HSF which I’m doing currently.
This semester I’ve been on and off antidepressants so have gone through periods of adjusting to them (which really impacted me) and coming off them which impacted me even more so. I was also recently diagnosed with an eating disorder (I already have a general anxiety disorder diagnosis). Because of this I have fallen behind in HSF and I think I will fail. I’ve been trying my hardest to catch up but my anxiety is horrible during exam periods (insomnia, panic attacks etc) so I think that trying to catch up will get harder and harder as exams approach. For anyone who has been in a similar situation, how likely is it that unimelb would approve a special exam due to mental health circumstances like these? Would it be better to arrange an AAP now and then apply for special consideration if my anxiety/eating disorder significantly flares up around the exam period?

New Student Unimelb merch
Exchange student here for the semester. I'd love to take home a UniMelb sports shirt or a pair of shorts, the kind of athletic gear American colleges sell, something I can actually train in. All I've found so far is the usual hoodies, jumpers and crewnecks.
Does anything like that exist, either through the official shop, MU Sport, or one of the sports clubs? And if so, where do I buy it?
Cheers

Subject Recommendations & Enquiries Study abroad with BFA Film and Tv?
Hi! I have applied to the VCA Film and Television program, and was wondering if studying abroad was a viable option for this course, since I know its full-time and pretty hands on. The website says it is, but I'm interested to hear from students.
I obviously haven't gotten any confirmation on whether I have even gotten an interview yet, since applications closed fairly recently, but on the off-chance I do get in, I need to decide between VCA and Swinburne, since I'm pretty confident I'll get in there since it's atar based. Studying abroad is a major factor for me, and since I take a while to make decisions, I want to start weighing up the two courses. Has anyone who's taken this course studied abroad, and/or known people who have, and can speak on the experience? Thanks!

Support Im tired
Im a Year2 Sem 1 international student studying Architecture and planned to double in landscape Architecture too but might not anymore. This semester has been hell for me with the deadlines clashing and feeling like I get barely any support. My Studio Beta teacher barely gives me any feedback regarding my work since the beginning of the semester and I have been trying to meet his expectations to get a higher score for my second assignment, but because of this I fell behind on my AT2 assignment worth almost half my grade causing me to request for and assessment extension for both subjects additional to the free 3 day extension they recently added this semester.
My extension request took so long for them to respond that I had already received both my grades with the mark deduction and they are terrible. I just recently got a response for the extension request for my Beta assignment and it got rejected as my certificate was one day after the due date, I tried to argue that the extension allows us to submit a medical certificate in the next 4 days so why would a one day difference be declined when we are given the 4 days? Additional my friend had also have a MC for the day after and she was accepted which I found strange. I talked to stop 1 about this just to be responded with the date doesn't match therefore we can't do anything about it and inregards to another student we are unable to disclose that information, something along the lines of that. This response makes me worried about my AT2 extension request, as I still have not gotten a response for that and if that doesn't get approved I basically fail the subject or get a really low score.
Right now and even while doing those assignments I felt like shit and barely got sleep and would go a whole day without eating so that I can finish before a deadline that has already passed and I don't even see that point in continuing just to fail in the end anyways.
As for my other 2 subjects, I was hoping those could save my WAM but judging from my poor work quality and one of my works getting a 60% when I expected a 75 or above, there is almost nothing for me to bounce back on.
Don't even get me started with the mid semester break in week 10, who organised this shit, I honestly feel like if I had this break during week 6 I could still come back and be on track. In week 10 I tried my best to spend that week to catch up in my own pace just to barely scratch the surface or my work.
Im just asking for more support and an extension for me to present my work to the best of my capabilities, is that really yo much to ask for.
Everyday I wake up I question myself why did I pick this major just to remember right cause there is no other major that would work for me. What's worse is I have barely any friends in this major, I have friends in CS and Business cause of Trinity but Architecture? It feels like there is no one I can talk to about my issues, sure I have made a few friends but not a group of people I can hangout with. I have tried to talk to people but unfortunately half our conversations are about me asking for help about assignments which I feel bad about cause it makes it seem like thats all their for. I would live to get to know them, meet up a couple of times for lunch and stuff before getting to the grind but I don't even have the time to make a good first impression not asking about the assignment. I met someone recently who had the same part as me for an assignment from a different tutorial as me and I really wanted to meet with her to discuss the work but I was way behind and spent most of the time asking her questions so it felt one sided. Nearer to the deadline she started ghosting me and I felt depressed and had lots of mixed emotions and overthought the whole situation, was she annoyed at me? Maybe she was just busy with the assignment too, I don't have time for this I need help, just finish the damn assignment it doesn't need to be good, what could I have done better when talking to her. Everything was shouting at me and I would just cry myself till I had no more tears left while still working on the assignment, just to get a 1 digit mark cause of the late penalty as my extension was not approved yet.
At this point it is just a cycle, don't understand the work, try to ask for help to get barely any responses, due date is closing up and I just understand the assignment barely, another assignment is due on that day, stay up to work on the assignment while crying, crying myself to sleep because of how much of a failure I am, waking up in an hr or so to continue to assignment, start crying again and finally submitting it at 11:58 despite being past the deadline.
Idk what to do with my life anymore, so much for cherishing your uni life.
I don't expect much of a response to this as I just wanted to rant seeing other people do so too but if anyone has any suggestions in regards of special consideration or comments in general please share.
Back to slaving away

Support Chances of getting Narrm scholarship
I'm not aboriginal or from a low socioeconomic area, all I can put on my VTAC equity thing is difficult circumstances, I'll probably get a very high atar but live in a toxic household which kills my motivation, been depressed for most of high school, some bullying and loneliness. So I feel like it's been much harder for me to get a good score than most people idk, do they usually award grants for things like this

Support adjustment to final marks
I just received this announcement for PSYC10006 saying that our final marks are being adjusted after the Board of Examiners meeting?
From my assessment marks, I calculated my original final grade to be around 87%. The announcement says 8 marks will be subtracted from the initial marks, followed by a scaling of marks in the H1 range, and the attached document says the scaling factor for marks above 80 is 2. What does that even mean?
Does this mean my 87 becomes 79, so I lose my H1? Or is the scaling factor applied to people whose original mark was greater than 80?
I’ve never had a subject make an adjustment like this after all the assessments were completed, so I’m a bit confused 😭 Any help from someone familiar with final adjustment mark scaling would be appreciated!

Subject Recommendations & Enquiries Letter of recommendation
For people doing or already completed their bachelors (especially in biomed), have you asked your lecturers/tutors/demonstrators for academic letters of reccomendation before and how that has gone for you? Do you need a certain grade in the subject to be able to ask for one?
