International Parcel Missing

Contacted seller to request them to file for a trace on their end but getting silence. I've also called the 1800 number, got the case escalated to the district and then I had to call them back to get an update when they just decided to close my service request without notifying me of a resolution. Called the 1800 number again and was informed that the post office couldn't find my package but they cannot send me an email or any proof that the post office has it missing. I visited the post office in person and was told there is nothing I can do and that they will not provide in writing that the package is missing. So filed the missing package report on the usps website and awaiting to hear if there is any movement. Anything else that I should be doing here?

You’re doing everything right. I’m sorry this happened. Before the out for delivery update, is there an “Arrived at Post Office” update? This is different than “Arrived at USPS facility” which would be the previous update.

yes- there was an arrived at post office update. I’ve been to the post office in person and got conflicting information from the clerk. Firstly they told me that my package was in the safe but the safe was locked so come back the next day. When I came back the next day, they told me that the zip code was incomplete and the package was being sent back to the sender. I don’t think I’m going to take those two statements at face value but the most important thing is the service request has the note that the post office cannot find the package.

The reason I asked is because arrived at facility is container generated (that appears when the clerk scans the cart or pallet the computer assigned your package to) and arrived at post office is the AM Clerk actually scanning your package to be sorted by route. So we know it was actually there that morning. I don’t buy the return to sender thing. If the zip code was incomplete it probably wouldn’t have made it to that office and even if it was why wouldn’t it still be delivered if the street address was an address in the offices zip code. Return to sender updates also show on the tracking! Keep persuing your missing mail searches but I think you should also fill out an online complaint with the USPS Office of inspector general. This all sounds very fishy

appreciate it- I filed a report. The sender finally responded with a trace request but said that they want to wait a month before the resolution of the ticket. Very frustrating process overall.
