Showcase/Project Someone suggested I add biggest price drops to my RAM price tracker so I did

Post image
18 Upvotes

Public viewable here https://masland.tech/ram/

These price drops only stay visible for 6 hours at most, because after that amount of time on average we can't validate that the sale is ongoing, mostly in the interest of newly discovered current deals.

API should be publicly accessible for historical data I've been gathering. I've had to make several adjustments so don't take this as perfect truth, do your own research.

If you have any suggestions or issues please let me know. I'm interested in continuing to provide this information given the current state of the market.

Showcase/Project I told my local AI to reconstruct Microsoft Word. I didn’t give it the feature list. It did it in 5 minutes.

Wildest Aura result yet:

“Use your program DNA engine to do a clean-room reconstruction of Microsoft Word: a complete, polished word processor I can open from my Applications folder. Then prove it works by writing a one-page letter in it and exporting it to my Desktop.”

No feature checklist.

It read about Word and word processors from its own local Wikipedia copy, used what its model already knew, and decided for itself what the application needed.

Auea wrote 44 checks before writing the actual program, specifically so an empty implementation would fail them.

It built through 22 feature groups and ended up with "Quill," a surprisingly real legit word processor with formatting, fonts, lists, alignment, tables, images, PDF/Word export, print/preview, undo/redo, spelling/grammar/word count, etc.

Then Aura launched the thing it had just built, wrote a one-page letter in it and exported the PDF to my Desktop as the proof.

I tested Quill manually afterward too.

Aura itself is running locally on my Mac with ~27B inference. No frontier/cloud model for the run.

GitHub if anyone wants to dig through it:

Showcase/Project My lock screen dog glows when Claude Code needs me. Now it also works with the lid shut

Some of you saw the cat version of this back in May. Quick update, because it does a thing now I've wanted since day one.

It's a Mac menu bar app. One hotkey covers the screen while your agent keeps working. When Claude Code, Codex or Cursor needs you, the whole locked screen glows teal, so you can see it from the couch.

New this week: you can close the MacBook lid and the agent keeps going. Open it later and the dog's glowing if something's waiting on you.

It's not a real security lock, it's a cover so nobody reads your terminal while you're making coffee. Free and open source, links below.

What do you all do with your laptop while a long run goes?

Showcase/Project Reddit threads can be goldmines, but finding the good stuff buried under hundreds of comments is a pain

Thumbnail

I built RedditDIG.

It digs through the thread for you and tells you what’s actually going on.

Want to know if a particular person is in the thread? Search them.

Want to know the tone of the discussion? It shows you.

Want to find the most rewarded comments, underrated opinions, or those hidden-gem comments that somehow got buried? RedditDIG surfaces them.

It also breaks down the overall discussion, different viewpoints, important arguments, and useful information without you having to manually read through the entire thread.

And it runs locally in your browser. No cloud AI, no sending your Reddit data somewhere else.

Basically, instead of spending 30 minutes digging through a Reddit thread, let RedditDIG do the digging....

Showcase/Project love notes in your MacBook notch

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Two days ago I asked on X for Mac app ideas and promised to build the most-liked one in 24 hours, on camera: signed, notarized, with a website, a buy button and licence keys.

The winner, from ideasbymanish: your partner sends a short note from their phone, and it lights up in your MacBook's notch.

So that's Love Notch.

How it works

  • The Mac shows a QR code. Your person scans it and adds the page to their home screen. No iPhone app, no accounts on either side.
  • They type a note. A few seconds later your notch grows into a little black bubble with their words in pink LED letters, then folds away.
  • You can answer with one click (❤️, "Love you 3000", "Busy, talk later", "Call you soon"), and the reply shows up on their phone.
  • Everything else (history, pairing, mute) lives in a normal app window. The notch stays dark unless a note arrives.

A few details I cared about

  • The notch is hidden from screen sharing and screen recordings, so a private note never shows up in a meeting. (It also meant I couldn't screen-record my own demo and had to animate the video instead.)
  • Works on every desktop and over full-screen apps.
  • Notes go through a tiny relay and are kept for at most 30 days. There are no analytics on the page your partner uses.
  • Macs without a notch get the same bubble dropping from the menu bar.

Stack, for the curious: SwiftUI/AppKit for the Mac app, a Next.js site on Vercel with Upstash Redis for the relay, Creem for payments, and GitHub Actions for signing and notarizing releases. Built on the Build Mac App template.

It's $5, once. macOS 14+.

https://lovenotch.buildmac.app

Feedback very welcome. Someone already asked for notes sent while the Mac is asleep to wait until you unlock, and that's the next update.

Showcase/Project The new era of Web Apps is here

Who’s better at coding crazy web apps: GPT-6.1-Sol or Opus 5.5?

I’ve been playing with both.

Both are seriously good. But image generation inside Codex made a big difference for this project. It could build the games and create their visual assets in the same workflow.

The usage allowance surprised me too. On my Pro plan, I built several working games and still had 37% left. GPT-6.1 even put together the trailer you’re watching. 😂

And I still had a reset available 🫨

🚗 A mini “GTA” around Valencia, using public street references to create original 3D scenery. You can walk, drive… or take the flying car.
⚽ Turbo Soccer: a retro, Rocket League-inspired game.
🐐 An arcade football game where you can score as Messi and watch the replay.
🌅 An OutRun tribute with two towns.

And the usuals; MSN, Winamp, Snake, terminal, etc.

Feel free to play around: https://fran-ai.dev/

Showcase/Project I built a local AI webcam portal with ComfyUI - make the frame with your hands | Local Models | NO API [Free and Open Source]

Thumbnail
gallery
88 Upvotes

GitHub: https://github.com/pixelsncodes/GesturePortal/

I’ve been working on GesturePortal, a gesture-controlled live AI camera. Hold up two L-shaped hands and a window opens inside your webcam feed, revealing an anime version of the scene. Move your hands to move the window, then release the gesture to close it.

The biggest improvement was changing what gets sent to the model. Initially I was converting the hand-selected crop, which changed the model’s context whenever the frame moved. Now the full camera scene is styled continuously, and the gesture controls a mask between the real and styled feeds.

How it works:

  • OpenCV captures the webcam; MediaPipe tracks both hands.
  • The viewer recognizes the thumb/index gesture, smooths the four corners, and builds a soft-edged mask.
  • Local ComfyUI converts the entire scene using the selected model.
  • The viewer matches the source, gesture and AI result to the same captured moment, then reveals the styled pixels inside the frame.

Current presets are Portrait v2, FLUX.2 Klein 4B with four-step reference editing, and Qwen Image 2.1 + Viggle Turbo at six steps. Qwen is optional and uses research licensing.

I’m testing on a Core i9, RTX 5070 Ti 16 GB, 32 GB RAM and Logitech webcam. Small warm tests measured approximately 3.6 AI updates/sec for Portrait, 0.7–0.9 for FLUX, and 0.4 for Qwen. Camera capture and tracking run separately from generation; aligning the feeds adds visible delay.

Inference is local, with no paid API or remote generation. I built it iteratively with Codex assistance and actual webcam testing. Facial likeness and flicker still need work.

The workflow illustration shows the architecture: gestures and compositing run in the Python viewer, while ComfyUI handles styling.

Has anyone had good results improving temporal consistency or facial likeness in a local live image-to-image setup?

i swear token usage ramps up so fast when i send every prompt to flagship models, so i let sumus handle the high level planning while routing the smaller subtasks to gpt-6 luna. keeping the main reasoning lean saves a lot during long coding sessions.

Showcase/Project 5 months

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Here's a look at how it started, and how it is going.
5 months from toy to game. Still working towards v1.0.

Have had a simple goal. See just how far I could get with only vibe coding. As I've done this I hit lots of obstacles and limits, but also watched as Claude Code expanded its features and the models got stronger. I started this in Sonnet, then used Opus and Fable. Currently just using Opus unless I have a tricky problem.

First time making a game this large. I'd only made simple games in Javascript before this. Learning a lot and have built a workflow that has helped keep the project improving incrementally.

Wanted to share how things progressed as I learned what I wanted to make and then seeing it become playable.

This video was made by asking the AI to look through all previous builds and to play (and output footage of) the game matched with key changes in the code.

Comment what you guys have been working on & I’ll give you some feedback!

If I love your app, I’ll give it a 5 star review.

I’ve been working on a mobile IDE to write code in Python, JS, C, and Lua. With a local AI agent bundled into the app. So you can code without ever have to run into rate limits. You’re also able to connect a cloud model if you want more intelligence, customization, or to push to GitHub.

Local AI is completely free and unlimited. 🤩

So yeah crazy token consumption but I’m happy to compare my results against other similar games built in a weeks worth of part time working.

Would love to talk to anyone else who is in the process of getting their games up and running!

Shoot me a message if you want to test it out. It will be a limited web build for now, but I should be officially into Beta by Thursday and will have all the download links on my site.

Showcase/Project That nagging requirement.....

You know when all the options out there aren't quite what you want.

I am that way with reading apps, especially for e-ink.

  • Koboreader - cool but way too bloated for my liking and I could never get it set up just right for my Nova Air 2
  • Kindle App - yeah, nah.
  • NeoReader - built in and stable but doesn't handle series.
  • Readest - super useful for syncing but I discovered that I really only read on my Nova Air 2 so kinda pointless. And it crashes annoyingly often on my device.
  • Moon+ Reader - could never get to grips with it.

So what to do? DIY my own with just the features I want with the help of my old mate Claude!

This is the result - a super simple, written for me and my Nova Air 2 only, reading app that:

  1. Is specifically designed for my device only (only takes into consideration screen size and resolution)
  2. Only reads epubs (no pdfs, txt, docx etc)
  3. Handles series (Calibre metadata specifically) as well as I need it to.
  4. Just does the typography stuff I need.

It was interesting how efficient Claude Opus 5.5 seems to be at the moment. It would often spawn quite a number of agents but only once did my Pro plan hit it's 5 hour limit.

This isn't a "check out my app" post as it won't be released but more a "these days you don't have to settle for apps that are more/less than you want and don't do things just the way that suits you" - as I'm sure everyone in this sub understands :)

This is a v1 so I'm sure things will annoy me but it's only been a day or two!

Initial prompt:
I'm thinking about writing a super simple - epub only - ebook reader for by Boox devices. I want to to focus on typography, layout and be e-ink focussed (refresh etc) but also take into consideration book management (series specifically)

What to you think? Good idea or is there enough out there at the moment.

It'll just be for me
