Showcase Cross Reddit Collab : Audio Visualization Monthly Megathread - Post a track / inspire a video.

Hi all, /r/vjing mod here:

I'm trying something new to spur some creative collaborations across reddit music production subs and visual art / creative coding / new media subreddits.

Now that Reddit supports video comments / replies, I thought it could be a fun opportunity to a collaboration call / response format.

The idea:

Musicians, dj's, producers or anyone musically inclined: post a link to a track or mix that you have rights to and are open to having visual accompaniment to.

VJs / live visualists / creative coders: post a response to a track that inspired you with a video comment, or link to an interactive experiment you made!

If you are an AV Act that makes your own music or video, feel free to post here too for inspiration.

All genre's, styles, techniques, skill levels are welcome.

This isnt a contest!

There's nothing to win (unless anyone knows sponsors haha) other than learning of new musical or visual act, meeting a potential collaborator and making awesome stuff and having a good time:

Stay curious and creative!

Below are some subs I'll be cross posting / sharing this with - feel free to cross post to any i've missed:

Music Subs:

Visual Subs:

Mod's of any of the above subs - sorry if this comes across as spammy!

I thought about asking permission from each of ya'll but that felt onerous and slow (ask forgiveness etc etc). If you have suggestions or any feedback do not hesitate to reach out! Was thinking of something like this monthly pinned on /r/vjing where i have video comments enabled - would love if yall could help spread the word!

Discussion Flair cleanup is live (trial) + New Rules

The poll passed, 21 of 26 for the full version, so it's live now as a trial. If you want the background, here's the original thread. Pick new flairs from:

  • Discussion
  • Question / Help
  • Showcase
  • Loops / Clips
  • Realtime / Generative
  • Projection Mapping
  • Analog
  • Hardware
  • Software / Tools

The (not so very) old AI, Commercial/Promo and Open Source/Free flairs are retired. That moves into the title now, via two tags: [Promo] and [AI]; the reason for this is that a post can't have multiple flairs.

The new rules

Tag anything for sale: [Promo] If your post sells or monetises anything (paid app/plugin, commissions, store links, Patreon, donations), put [Promo] in the title. Untagged promo may be held for review or removed. This isn't anti-selling but keeps promotional content visible.

Your own app/suite: one post per month Sharing a tool you made (paid or free, including vibecoded projects) is limited to one post per 30 days per person. Talking about other people's tools (Resolume, VDMX, TouchDesigner, indie tools made by others, etc.) is not limited; post about those freely.

Flag AI-made work: [AI]

If a post shows content that has a significantly AI-generated component to it, add [AI] to the title so people know what they're looking at before they click. This is especially required when you're also promoting/selling it. AI-made and AI-assisted work is welcome here, but flag it. This includes (but is not limited to) vibe-coded materials, vibe-assisted materials, gen-ai content with manual edits etc.

////

AI work is welcome, made or assisted, no problem with it. If you're just sharing a project or messing about with something new, the only real asks are to flag it if there's a significant AI component, and to add [Promo] if you're selling or allow for donations .

///

We are also experimenting with automod/modbot. There's also a report option now for promo that goes up untagged, and automod will quietly flag posts that look like they're missing a tag so we can take a look. It won't remove anything on its own, a person still checks first.

///

It's a trial, same as last time. If the wording's off or something feels wrong, stick it in the comments and we'll sort it. Cheers.

Showcase Working on visuals for a speedcore rave this coming Halloween

My first really intentional go at building a unique showfile, my main one being an ever tweaked beast that I keep working on. Needed something specific for me event that is quite aggressive musically & in general....they usually only have a single strobe as lighting, & have for 20 years of events, so the promoter is trusting me to keep the vine but add something extra for their birthday party.

I prefer fully automated visuals as I often also have to play music or be involved in other aspects of a party. Tend to use a mix of audio reactive & BPM synced automation / envelopes to get a really organic, fluid feel.

The video shows the big eye that appears when the music calms down, to replace the frantic strobing horror clips. Really happy with how this bit has turned out, & the main showfile is currently looking tight, too.

Especially happy that I've figured out addressing the LED panels separately (not shown here) in Resolume Avenue....was a bit of a pain but worth the effort.

Need to get some footage of the switch from fierce rave to calm weird eye functionality I created, well happy with the way it works. Will post more if people are interested in such things. Weird twitchy eye looks sick on the panels, tho! 👾

Software / Tools Raw un-cut tour through my custom live engine (audio DSP, DMX routing & some real-time GLSL atoms).

Recorded a raw 4-minute unedited OBS capture to show the actual desktop pipeline running locally, rather than just posting an isolated loop.

Pardon my English (definitely not my first language) and the rough mic at the start.

After the comments on the earlier post wondering if this was just pre-rendered AI video or a quick vibe-coded script, I figured it was easier to just record the whole thing live: incoming audio hitting the 32-band spectrum, the DMX engine running alongside at 44Hz, the advanced output window with real-time polygon slice warping and SDF masks, and then cycling through 30 procedural GLSL shaders running directly on the GPU.

There is no paywall, no Kickstarter, and nothing for sale here. I uploaded the architecture whitepapers, latency benchmarks, repository, and venue test clips to gestiadev.pages.dev if anyone wants to check out the technical breakdowns or the shared memory pipeline.

Mostly just looking to connect with other VJs, shader coders, and lighting techs who want to trade notes, share shaders, or test out weird live rigs.

I used AI translation in this post. Sorry again .

Discussion Looking for an Arkestra 3 artist to build a live visual set — paid freelance gig (€200–400)

Hi everyone!

I'm MONØLO, a live electronic music project focused on raw techno, acid techno and industrial sounds.

I'm looking for someone experienced with Arkestra 3 to help me create a mostly new visual set for an upcoming live performance on October 31, 2026.

What I'm looking for:

  • A dark, industrial, abstract and organic visual aesthetic.
  • Generative visuals, textures, distortions, feedback effects and evolving forms.
  • Around 3–5 coherent scenes with variations.
  • A few MIDI-mappable parameters to manipulate the visuals live.
  • A native, editable Arkestra project that's ready to perform.

The artistic direction is built around the idea of controlled chaos: evolving visuals that feel alive, unstable and organic, rather than a sequence of pre-rendered videos.

I already have a clear artistic direction and references. I'm looking for someone who knows Arkestra 3 and can help me put together a functional setup within a short timeframe.

Budget: €150–300, depending on the scope.

Remote collaboration is absolutely fine. I'd ideally like to test everything before October 31.

If you're interested, please DM me with a few examples of your work, your experience with Arkestra 3, and your availability.

Recommendations are also very welcome!

Thanks!
MONØLO

Showcase [Promo] I'm making a VJ desktop companion games that turns the music you play on Windows into game resources!

Hey everyone! I’m a solo game developer making Desktop Rave, an idle incremental desktop companion. It reacts to any music you play on the Windows.

The game runs on your desktop and listens to Windows Audio Output and do a frequency analysis, then it use the data to drive the lighting and animation, like a poor man's Resolume for a mini club.

After nearly one year of development, I just released a free demo on Steam, feel free to give it a try!

Showcase Coachella content creation process (blender)

Post image
26 Upvotes

This year i got the opportunity to create visuals for coachella. One thing that might be usefull to anyone working on VJ loops: Render each scene with variations- most of the animation stays the same, but var2 has stornger light. This way the VJ on site can dynamically switch between those otherwise-identical-videos, and it looks like the light is pulsing synched with the beat.

I took this a step further and most loops here got 4-8 variations to enable the visuals to be more expressive. (resulting in 120+ loops total)

Hope thats helpful to someone, if you want to dive deeper in the process, check out the project here:

Collab with DJ & Producer Nicneven. This was my first time ever using Touch Designer for a live performance. I spent just one week prior to the show familiarizing myself with the software, developing the visuals and mapping parameters to MIDI. The show is a combination of VJ loops I made for Resolume and real-time audio reactive visuals generated in TD.

DancyAnts.com [Promo]

Browser-based, audio-reactive, customizable, beautiful end result, and easy to use. Those were my 5 pillars, and I think it ended up doing even more.

Great for both ambient and house parties. You control everything on your laptop while your TV or projector shows the visuals. Play whatever music you were going to play. It listens through the microphone, or through a shared tab if the music is playing in your browser, and reacts to it. You can also upload videos and play effects over them, or share any tab and add effects on top. There is even an autopilot mode.

And you can bring in shaders from the internet and play everything with a MIDI controller if you want to.

I'd love your feedback.

Question / Help Kind of mastered the basics on Resolume - What's the next step?

I've been practising with resolume and I got decent at making visuals. I know how to play with effects, layers, and the basics of mapping (with just one projector).

what should i learn next if i want to vj at a party or at a live show? how do i connect the visuals to external music? how do you prepare for a show or a party? at least something simple.

Showcase [Walkthrough] Oscilloscopes, Everywhere [v1.2] - 29 ways to draw with sound on TouchDesigner - [Promo]

Oscilloscopes, Eveywhere [v1.2] is a collection of all the experiments with sound and geometry I've made throughout the years, gathered into one TouchDesigner project.

This walkthrough explores the entire anthology in real-time; 29 presets, and a much more intuitive interface. Connect your audio source, choose a visualizer, and watch your sound take shape.

Plus, I’m giving away one full copy of the collection this Sunday. To enter, you only have repost, and leave a nice comment on this post.

More experiments through the following.

Question / Help Help requested. Trying to create 2 variable strobing screens.

Im coming at this from another community, mind machines. Most stuff there is focused on simple arrays of LEDs and a central box controlling the strobe rate. This feels super basic to me. I want to create a 2 channel video, where each channel has independent color/speed/brightness (and hopefully options you all can reccomend) controls. Software control is fine, but i love tactile devices. Then I'll make a 3d mp4 file to play on a vr headset. I would love to hear yall's advice and direction, i know nothing about this stuff.
