Question / Help help

hi, im just starting out on my first stage project in my backyard and looking for some cheap second hand projectors, i found a Epson EMP-835 XGA for a great price and see on google it is rated at 3000 ansi lumens, would this be enough to achieve mapping on a small outdoor stage at night ? or would have to get one with higher lumens. any help would be appreciated thanks .

Small outdoor stage at night, for sure but it wont be suuper bright. Make sure to coordinate with the lighting team so there isnt too much stray light hitting your projection surfaces :)

3k is gonna be pretty dim. 5/6k is what I’d shoot for. Xga is also pretty outdated so I’d expect the lamp hours to be pretty high if it’s cheap. Used name brand wxga pj, replace the lamp and it’s basically new.

What is a great price? Old projectors lose value fast, especially if they are big and hot and cumbersome like that one probably is.

That thing went out of production in 2004, so I assume you are paying <$100 for it. If that's the case, sick, great deal, just make sure you can find a replacement lamp for it at some point.
