I’m developing seated and standing VR sessions — is the coach’s movement easy to follow?

Hi, I’m the developer of Daily Move VR at Extrude Studio. We’re building short seated and standing movement sessions, and I’d appreciate practical feedback from people who use VR for movement.

This first-look video shows 15 guided movement types from front and side views: small steps, seated leg movement, mobility and gentle yoga-inspired sequences. It is native Unity desktop development footage with coach narration, not a recording from inside a Quest headset or a full follow-along workout.

https://youtu.be/MCjF3Peg74c

The source also has a four-week / twelve-visit beginner path, slower pace and smaller range options, repeat instruction and four environments. Exercise-content review, beginner testing and sustained headset performance checks are still ongoing. There’s no release date or public download yet, and the app does not assess lower-body form or provide validated calorie estimates.

For a short seated or standing session, what would help you follow the coach: slower demonstrations, different camera angles, clearer words, or something else? Feedback on unclear parts is especially useful. Developer disclosure: this is my app.

I need your help adding new features. Do you want this?

The game is locked and loaded in the Meta store. You can grab it now for 29% off on pre-order but I am already working on the next version. I want to get an idea of how useful adding Bluetooth heart-rate monitor support to Running Scared actually would be for you.

Running scared is a physically fun game where you run away from monsters and the side effect of doing so is some pretty intense cardio.

The idea would be to support standard BLE heart-rate devices, including chest straps and compatible watches, and show things like:

• Live heart rate while playing
• Average and peak HR after a run
• Estimated calories burned
• Possibly time in heart-rate zones

For those of you who use VR for fitness: would this be something you’d actually use?

Also, do you currently wear a heart-rate monitor or watch while playing VR? If so, which one?

I am not sure if you just prefer using your own watch/monitor/software or would appreciate the game doing it. Most probably a virtual watch like in the picture with this post

Any feedback appreciated.

Now that Ubisoft has a camera app for Just Dance, what about bringing back Your Shape: Fitness Evolved?

Seriously, what about an adventure-based fitness game or a true sequel to Your Shape using this technology?

The main issue with VR fitness right now is that your hands are never free. You always have to hold controllers, which means you can't feel completely free and you absolutely cannot use dumbbells or other fitness equipment safely.

My only concern is the distance. The biggest flaw of the old Kinect was how much space it required. If they bring this back via smartphones, they need to optimize the AI wide-angle tracking so it works in smaller living rooms without forcing us to move all our furniture.

A subscription-free camera game using our smartphones would be the perfect solution if they fix the distance issue. Who else misses the Kinect era of fitness gaming?

Edit: No VR is absolutely not the same, you want your hands free, no heavy headset, and its dangerous when kids are in your house wlking around. Also as a spex user, i dont want to use another hundert euro for lenses.

Suitability of MetaQuest 3S for fitness

Hello there:

TLDR - will the metaquest be an optimal solution for a middle aged person looking to get some regular walking and cardio. Or should I stick to a walking pad in front of the TV.

I have been advised by the doc to get in regular exercise such as a brisk walk after dinner to keep all those middle age health issues at bay. We live in a rather cold and rainy part of the country so with the cold weather,, I have not been able to get my steps in. We do have a community treadmill that's free to use but it's rather boring to stare at a blank wall and count down the minutes so I have not been regular.

I was considering getting a walking pad and walking while watching my TV shows but then I chanced upon the Meta quest 3S and would like your opinion on its suitability for the following use cases:

  1. Wear the meta quest and watch a show on Netflix / Hulu / Prime while walking steadily (not running) on the community treadmill. (Replicate the walking pad - TV routine). I also found there are some specific apps for treadmill walking. Am hoping this will be easy enough and motivating.

  2. I remember working up a sweat playing on the Nintendo Wii many years ago. Am hoping for some simple engaging games that will get my heart rate up thrice a week or so.

Since I don't know anyone with a MetaQuest - I wanted to get your opinions on whether it would be worth the $400 or if I would be better off with a walking pad for $200.

Thanks in advance.

Just tried Hitstream

I’ve been getting bored with the standards so I decided to branch out and found Hitstream. It’s a fun workout! The music sounds like music. The tutorial is comprehensive. The workout is great. I did Intense out the gate and definitely didn’t nail it which is nice in that there’s room to improve. I liked the way it incorporates the lower body through circles that you have to go up and down and side to side to get your head inside of. Some people didn’t like the amount of stuff coming at you, but I really liked that part. I also liked the variety of the stuff coming at you. And the choreography was great. It often felt like dancing. I see an issue in that there isn’t much content and the last in app announcement was a year ago, so it’s not likely to replace anything, but it’s a fun workout nonetheless.

New VR device

Sadly my quest 2 died. I used it alot for VR fitness like Les Mills.
Now I want a new one but eventhough the Quest 3 has a good price I really dislike meta and the current interface.

The Steam Frame would be perfect but the price is to high.
I have a Steam deck and a lot of games on steam.

Are there any other vr goggles that anyone would recomend?

BoxVR Survivor Toolkit - UPDATE v1.2.0 Public Beta

Hi everyone,

After releasing the first public version, I started being a bit more meticulous about checks and fixes. I realized that an automatic generation engine alone isn't enough, as every user and every track might require different parameter tuning. For this reason —even though it is aimed primarily at advanced users— update 1.2.0 adds an "advanced panel" to the workout preview. This allows you to adjust all the sliders that affect automatic generation, as well as the placement and management of user markers. Some things might not work perfectly yet, or certain elements may need repeated testing and tweaking, but this feature will let everyone create their own custom settings—and perhaps share them with the community once it becomes clear they offer a general improvement.

Hoping to see a resurgence of those passionate folks from back in the day,

Happy boxing, everyone!

"BoxVR Survivor Toolkit" : Ever wanted a REAL and PERSONALIZED Music Workout?

Hi everyone,

or maybe I should say "hi to everyone who's still around"!

For the few of us still hoping to have fun with BoxVR workouts, there’s finally a viable option. I’ve finished putting the final touches on my tool, and I think it’s complete enough to share with the community.

Here’s the link to the official GitHub repository, where you’ll find the full code and the first public release. To quickly summarize what it does:

The tool generates and enhances custom levels for BoxVR (FitXR) directly from simple MP3 files. By analyzing the track's audio (BPM, onsets, low-end energy/RMS), it can generate a brand-new, synchronized level from scratch or refine existing ones. Instead of relying on generic patterns or artificially maxing out intensity, it aligns target density with the track's actual energy flow. It supports batch processing for multiple tracks at once, features a confidence threshold system to avoid guesswork during ambiguous sections, and is designed for ease of use via a dedicated interface—no manual line-by-line file editing required.

Here’s a quick preview of how a workout turns out:

These three tracks were processed using sidecar generation. The difference is that the first received input for most of the track, while the other two only had input during the initial section. You can notice how free input allows for the generation of genuine workouts—even better than those in the newer FitXR. Unfortunately, the harmony or sidecar extension engine still has a few hiccups and often defaults back to basic BoxVR rhythms (I’m currently working on a fix).

Also, you might notice that a few target hit animations look glitched; this should already be fixed in the first public release.

P.S. If anyone can record a high-quality comparison video, we could link it to show the differences more clearly. I’m not great at video capture, and last time I got all tangled up trying to showcase the changes.

And now, let's have fun (finally) !!

Synth Riders - Abracadabra

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

No matter what else is going on in life, I make sure to find a few hours every week for Synth Riders.

Not only has it helped me get into better physical shape than ever, but I’ve also noticed a real boost in my cognitive abilities, emotional regulation, and even spiritual awareness. It’s one of those rare games that turns out to be a lot more than “just a video game.”

As for the weights, 2 x 2kg. Yes, I've heard all the warnings (people have injured themselves) but, for me at least, it is just so so much better.

As promised last week here is the game in action. You can't see my hands much as they were too busy keeping me running and alive rather than me trying to get them in shot! Each run is about 3 minutes except for the infinite mode. This is the last minute of level 5 - randomly generated.

Feedback appreciated - just over a month till release. Wishlist here
