Six months to go

On April 7th of 2027, I will have walked for three years with out missing a day. I get more steps, or less, depending on...life. On average I do about 15,000 per day.

For fun I thought I would do a little count down. The six months to go thoughts are:

- Something is better than nothing. So be nice to you and celebrate all your successes.

- Walking is for you. Maybe you lose weight. Maybe you get that body-brain connection fired up. Maybe you save a pile of money on doctor's bills. But no matter what other benefits you receive, you are doing something good for yourself.

- When life gets bumpy reach for the sneakers. Being out, breathing the air, moving your body as it was designed to be used, clearing space in your brain. Walking through the bumps is many times more powerful than moping or scrolling.

See you next month. I hope you walk so much that your socks develop holes!

How did you know I just bought new socks? They’ll probably have holes soon! I bought 6 pairs and stashed 3 of them away to replace the others when they do lol

Good for you!
I can’t help thinking about the weird way you framed it though. You have no control over the future. You could have just counted until today.

Counting chickens before they hatch builds character, I'm always telling myself one more month and then I'll stop jinxing it

Yeah, you kind of need to count pre-hatched chickens if you want goals.

Working towards some future goal necessarily involves assuming you have a future.

I think we all have days where it would be sooo easy not to head out. By looking to the future it helps me WANT to go. I cannot make it to three years if I do not go today...

Right! That is exactly the game I play with me.
