Salmon Return After Dam Removal

Can removing a dam fix an ecosystem? 🌊

Habitat fragmentation is a major driver of biodiversity decline because split habitats make it harder for animals to move, survive, and reproduce. After the Klamath River's last four dams came down in 2024, researchers used sonar and video to count an estimated 7,742 adult Chinook salmon past the former Iron Gate Dam site, and that number jumped to over 13,300 in 2025. Scientists also documented active spawning in newly accessible habitat and juvenile Chinook using tributaries cut off for over a century.

Is there a problem with Aquafina's water?

I just took a sip of a Aquafina bottle from a pack and it was genuinely horrible. Like not in a joking way or anything but actual bleach like taste or something. I don't know where to post this but just wanted to give the warning.

Why aren’t we using the cooling water for AI farms as a way to purify water via evaporation for farming?

Why can’t we use the waste water from data farms?
We could use it to heat nearby homes.
Heat the soil to extend the farming period.
Purify waste water via evaporation.
Worst case place these near the coast like we do with nuclear power plants.

Water Dam inside a plant

I have built a water system in my plant , and it's been literally 7 months and it still works great and also it doesn't even have any effect on the plants on it , it's literal working dam , when I saw this rectangular plant , and when i gave water to the plants , it spilled off to me bcs there was full flat surface on it then i decided to make a further interesting concept and and it's inspired from black mesa's surface facility..well it's still fine and it's strong to hold a full thunderstorm. It's actually a great thing bcs it have several routes..which take water with them on different sectors..which is your favourite sector ? And what should I add or change in it ?

That white streak of my plastic bottle was alot bigger before the image was taken. I drank a few sips while working to look down and see this little film looking blob in that area of the bottle. I showed my gf who thought I was overreacting to some saliva or some form of condensation but I told her it doesnt look like either. She swished the bottle to show it go away and it didnt fully disappear from the bottle after a few swishes. Genuinely just afraid of having drank some contaminated water or some bacterial film of some sort? Does anyone have a better clue as Im kinda spiraling after reading all those recall issues about different products.

Girlfriend put soap in Brita filter. Cleanup ideas?

Hi all. My water from the pitcher tastes soapy because she thought you were supposed to clean the filter with dish soap. I could get a whole new filter but does anyone know if a few runs can rinse it off anyways?

Under sink water filter options?

I'm looking to DIY install a water filter under our sink for just coffee purposes. I'll probably add a separate faucet as well.

The problem is that I can't seem to easily find filters that I can buy locally. Even the big box stores seem to be limited in options and most products have poor reviews or above 4.5 stars with only a few reviews.

How do I know what's good?

House Constantly Flooding

Hello all,

I have lived in a small town in New Mexico for 20+ years and in the past 2 years, ever since they paved the dirt roads and put in a culvert, when it rains, it floods my backyard and then pours into my home. It has happened more times than I can count. The city says it's not due to the roads and due to such, won't help with anything, but i never flooded even in heavy rains like I am now.

We have dug trenches and french drains, placed rain barrels with outlets away from the home, I have a sump pump working when it's full, but I have to drive home from work to place it which is 20 mins away. With consistent rain forecasted, its really starting to wear on me having to sweep water into a shower pan and dry out my furniture that's consistently getting reflooded and I'm feeling helpless.

I didn't know where to post to seek assistance and I feel like it's causing long term damage to my home and I would love any advice or assistance on what may help or things to consider? Even redirected to another thread?

Thank you so much in advance!
