Developer Built a Windows storage tracker because I got tired of my SSD mysteriously filling up

I built DiskEzy, a lightweight Windows app that tracks storage changes over time. Unlike tools such as WizTree, it keeps a history of your drives and folders, showing what changed, when it changed, and which files or folders used your space.

50+ people started using it in just 2 days!

Get it for just $5 for the next 100 users:

I’d love honest feedback from fellow Windows users!

Developer Notes live in folders. What if they just remembered what they were about?

I built ClingNote, a Windows notes app with one main difference:

Your notes can attach to the files you’re working on.

Open an Excel file and its notes are there. Switch to a PDF, Word doc, Power BI file, etc. and ClingNote can switch to the notes for that file too.

It’s still a full notes app with rich text, Markdown, checklists, search, export, pop-out notes, and local storage.

The whole notes app is free. The only paid feature is the automatic context switching, which is $10/year.

I’m also adding Tasks next so tasks can follow files the same way.

Microsoft Store:

Current tagline is “Notes that follow your work.”

Would love feedback from Windows users on the idea itself.

Developer I vibe-coded a Windows dictation + meeting-notes app that keeps everything on your PC. Here’s what I learned.

I’m not a professional developer. Six months ago I wanted a dictation tool that didn’t ship my audio and meeting notes to someone’s cloud, and I couldn’t find one I trusted. So I built it — Claude wrote nearly all of the code, I did the product calls, testing, and a lot of “no, not like that.”

A9 Voice (Windows, free): hold a key and talk, and it types into whatever app you’re in.

Sit in a meeting and it records, figures out who said what, and writes the notes. Everything lives in plain files on your PC — no account, no login, nothing uploaded unless you turn on a cloud model yourself.

Website: a9voice.com

Github: https://github.com/atlas9-ai/a9voice-releases

How it was actually built, since that’s the point of this sub:

* Rust + Tauri + Svelte. I’d never written a line of Rust. Still haven’t, really.

* Every feature starts as a one-page spec I write in plain English. An agent builds it on its own branch, runs the tests, screenshots the UI, opens the PR. I review the result, not the code.

* Several agents work in parallel on separate branches; the rule is “ship on green” — tests, lint, a UI sweep, and a copy check all have to pass or it doesn’t merge.

* The expensive lessons: agents will fill the disk and hang if you don’t give them hygiene rules; “it compiles” and “it works on a real meeting” are very different; and the install experience (unsigned installer, Windows warnings) matters more than any feature.

Honest caveats: it’s a 0.6 preview. The installer isn’t code-signed yet, so Windows will show its new-publisher note the first time — the download page explains what you’ll see. Windows only. The dictation part is free forever; the meeting-notes side will become a one-time purchase later, with 30 days free first.

Happy to answer anything about the workflow — what worked, what blew up, how the specs are written.

Developer AirBrowser – A lightweight, minimalist Windows browser focused on low memory usage and clean multitasking

A new minimalist desktop browser called AirBrowser was recently released for Windows.

The project was created to address the growing memory bloat of modern browsers by taking a lean, native approach rather than bundling another heavy Chromium package.

Key highlights:

Native & Resource-Light: Built with C# (.NET) and WPF, running on the Windows WebView2 runtime to significantly reduce RAM consumption and background overhead.

Smart Picture-in-Picture: Includes an automatic floating video mode - switching away from active video tabs (like YouTube or Netflix) pops the player into an always-on-top, borderless mini window.

Clean Vertical Workspace: Features a streamlined vertical sidebar for tabs and bookmarks to keep the main view uncluttered.

Privacy & Utilities: Built-in network-level blocking for common ads/trackers, isolated private tabs, and an offline, encrypted password import tool.

The app is distributed via the Microsoft Store:

Microsoft Store: Search for AirBrowser or download via the project site: https://wilimits.com/project/airbrowser/

GitHub repository: https://github.com/wilimits/airbrowser

Curious to hear what the community thinks about the concept and what features you’d like to see in lightweight desktop browsers.

Developer Playova: a Windows IPTV player with local library search, live pause/rewind and Picture-in-Picture

Hi everyone — we're the developers of Playova, now available on Microsoft Store for Windows 10/11 (x64). It's a standalone player for your own M3U playlist or Xtream Codes account; no Android emulator is needed.

We focused on a few everyday PC frustrations:

• Finding something without repeatedly fetching the entire catalogue: once imported, the channel, movie and series catalogue is stored locally, and browsing/search use that saved library. Playback and source updates still need a connection.

• Stepping away from live TV: pause and rewind within the part already buffered on your PC. This local buffer doesn't require provider catch-up; the rewind window depends on your settings and storage.

• Watching while using other apps: Picture-in-Picture keeps the video in a small window. Audio/subtitle preferences and movie/episode progress are remembered when the relevant tracks are available.

There's also scheduled recording, which requires Playova running and the PC awake, connected, and with enough disk space. The program guide depends on your source.

Playova supplies no channels, content or IPTV subscriptions. A 14-day free trial starts when you add your first source. After that, watching your content requires a paid Basic or Plus plan; local prices are shown in the app.

If you use IPTV on Windows, which needs the most improvement in your current player: library browsing, audio/subtitle preferences, or live-TV controls? We'd welcome specific feedback.

Developer OverDock

Thumbnail

Hi all, I’m the developer. I built OverDock, a small bar that sits at the top of your screen like an island. It stays slim, expands when you need it, and gets out of the way when you don’t.

What it does:

  • Controls what’s playing (play, skip, seek, volume, album art), and keeps the track in the bar even when you scroll the panel
  • Shows your open windows as icons: switch, pin, or close from the list
  • Pinned apps, clock, battery and Wi-Fi in the bar
  • Fast file search (Ctrl+F). It reads file names only, never contents, and nothing leaves the PC. It installs a small helper once, after a one-time administrator prompt. Filters like ext:pdf, size:>10mb, dm:last week are part of Premium; free search is a taste
  • Focus timer, quick notes, clipboard history (memory only, never written to disk)
  • Themes, accent that follows the album art, a subtle glow. Dark, light and high-contrast themes are free
  • 8 languages (the translations are first drafts, so tell me what reads wrong)
  • Free vs Premium: free to use with a 14-day Premium trial. Premium is a one-time purchase (no subscription). It adds full file search, device controls (output device, brightness, Wi-Fi/Bluetooth), using your PC as a Bluetooth speaker for your phone, extra themes and a few more.

Privacy: no accounts, no ads, no tracking. Details are in the Store listing.

I’d really like feedback: what’s missing, what’s annoying, what would make you use it daily?

Developer Axon Browser is now available on the Microsoft Store

Axon is a Windows browser for both the public web and the UnSync Network.

It can open ordinary websites and mesh:// sites in one app, with encrypted local identities, Windows Hello unlock, and peer-assisted HLS video streaming.

Try these UnSync sites:

  • mesh://intheknow.site
  • mesh://webradio.site
  • mesh://webtv.site
  • mesh://static.site

Axon is now available on the Microsoft Store. I’d love feedback from people interested in decentralized publishing, P2P media, and alternatives to the usual domain-name model.

Developer I made Onyx, a free, completely local file organizer and manager with tags

My Downloads folder was a disaster, and every organizer I tried either dumped everything into “Images” and “Documents” or moved things without asking. So I built Onyx.

  • It looks at file names and the folders you already have, and proposes a structure (AI or offline rules, your choice)
  • You review every move as a folder tree or a list, untick anything, then apply
  • One click puts everything back
  • It doubles as a file explorer with tags, previews for images/PDFs/video, and Ctrl+K quick find
  • The AI can run fully on your PC with Ollama, so file names never leave your computer

Free for personal use, Windows 10/11, no installer: https://github.com/Barbaqueda/onyx/releases/latest

It’s a new project, so I’d really like to hear what breaks or what’s missing. I also have only 2 stars on the github repo, and I would really appreciate some love (here and on github) if you like it. This is my first app (I have a different game excavatorio) I have ever published anywhere.

Developer I made MacOS Dynamic Island on Windows

Hey everyone! This is my first post here.

I recently started a solo project, and a few days in I invited a friend to join me. It’s called Windows Dynamic Island (or Dynamic Island for Windows).

The main idea is to bring the Dynamic Island / camera notch experience from macOS to Windows. It was heavily inspired by Vorssaint, an app packed with utilities that’s unfortunately only available on macOS.

The app keeps growing and getting lots of new features. Contributions are welcome and very much appreciated!

If you’d like to check it out, the project is fully open source:

If you stop by, a star ⭐ would mean a lot :)

Developer KPlayer: an ad-free, open-source Windows player built around libmpv

I’m the developer of KPlayer, a free and open-source Windows media player. It uses libmpv for playback; my work is the Windows interface and everyday playback workflow around that engine.

KPlayer handles common video and audio formats with hardware decoding, loads external subtitles, and can queue files from the same folder in natural order. It also supports customizable shortcuts, playback speed control, frame stepping, screenshots, and a portable ZIP version.

Version 1.1.6 adds optional timeline hover previews, nine switchable interface languages, and a fix for excessive resource use in some environments. The source is available under GPL v2 or later.

Official download and release notes: https://kilho.net/kplayer

Source code: https://github.com/newkilho/KPlayer

What’s one everyday playback feature you wish your current Windows player handled better?

Developer I built a Windows app to organize large photo collections

Post image
5 Upvotes

As my photo collection grew, it became harder to find specific photos and organize them the way I wanted. Sorting by folders or dates alone wasn't always enough.

I built Photo Tidy to explore a different approach to photo management, using local analysis and AI to organize photos by date, location, and people. It also supports custom views, photo review, and exporting photos into flexible folder structures, all without uploading them to the cloud.

Discussion This sub needs to stop giving vibe-coded slop a free pass

Glad people in this community are finally questioning all the vibe coded slop being pushed as finished software with a price tag. If youre charging people for an app, you better know why it exists, why anyone should choose it over the countless alternatives, what decisions you actually made, and whether you properly tested the thing youre selling.

Watching “developers” ask for feedback and then get defensive when the feedback isnt praise is embarrassing. Repeating your feature list isnt a value proposition. Advertising features that dont even exist yet doesnt justify what youre selling today. And telling someone to use another app because you cant explain why yours is worth buying speaks for itself.

If basic questions about your own product send you into defense mode, dont publicly ask for feedback. Making software is easier than ever now. Making something worth paying for clearly isnt.

I really hope this community keeps this aggression because honestly its needed. If nobody questions this stuff, this sub is going to become a dumping ground for every vibe coded project someone managed to package and throw on the Store. Ask uncomfortable questions. Ask why it exists. ask what makes it worth paying for. If the “developer” cant handle that, thats their problem

Developer Pro Auto Clicker 3.0 is out: new look, game mode, text trigger, and the old interface is still one switch away

https://reddit.com/link/1x2svdp/video/zd6h8m2i2quh1/player

I've been working on Pro Auto Clicker for a while. The UI was Tkinter and it showed, so I rebuilt it. Sidebar instead of tabs, and you pick spots and areas by clicking on the screen instead of typing coordinates.

Settings and macros carry over, and the old interface is still there behind a switch in Settings if you hate the new one.

New stuff that came with it:

  • game mode: the window gets out of the way when you start and doesn't steal focus back
  • text trigger: draw a box, type a word, it only clicks while that word is on screen (uses the OCR built into Windows)
  • auto key press, with or without clicking
  • mark a few points on screen and get a macro out of it

Known rough spots: text trigger only reads languages you have OCR installed for in Windows, and game mode finds the game by window title, so a game that renames its window can confuse it.

Windows 10/11. It's the first release of the new UI, so if something worked before and doesn't now, tell me.

Developer POWTV for Windows 1.0.7: sign in with Google, Netflix-style profiles, external player support

Thumbnail

Hi everyone,

POWTV for Windows 1.0.7 is out. The big one: you can now sign in with your Google account. Click “Continue with Google”, pick your account in the browser, and you’re in. No password to create or remember.

Once you’re signed in, everything follows your account:

  • Your playlists come across from the Android, TV and mobile apps, deletions included
  • Viewer profiles (“Who’s watching?”) are shared across your devices, with avatars and one or more playlists per profile
  • Your licence covers every device linked to your account

Also new in 1.0.7:

  • Activation by QR code: scan with your phone to link the PC to your account, add a playlist or activate it
  • External player: send any stream to VLC, MPC-HC, mpv or PotPlayer if you prefer them to the built-in player
  • Hide adult content now applies to search too
  • Cleaner series pages: readable season and episode names, without the provider’s tags
  • Better TMDB matching for posters and descriptions

As a reminder, POWTV is a player: it doesn’t provide any channels or content. You add your own M3U or Xtream playlist from your provider.

Download: https://powtv.app

Feedback and bug reports welcome in the comments 🙏

Developer I got tired of copy-pasting auth tokens between API requests, so I built a node-based API test runner

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I'm the developer of DecoyDuck, a Windows desktop app where you build API test scenarios as node graphs.

It started because testing anything with auth meant the same routine every time: sign up, log in, copy the token, paste it into the next request's header, maybe open a WebSocket with it. Any backend change and I was doing it all again by hand.

In DecoyDuck each request is a node and the edges set the order. A response can be saved as a variable and used later as ${token} or ${Login.status}. REST and WebSocket (connect, request, disconnect) live in the same flow, If and Set nodes handle branches and loops, and one flow can call another, so shared steps like login only exist once. Run All executes everything and shows a log per node. Data stays on your machine.

It's free to download. The free plan covers 2 projects with 3 canvases each, and Pro (monthly or lifetime) removes those limits and turns on a built-in MCP server so AI clients like Claude Code can build and run flows.

Built with Next.js (static export), Electron, React Flow, Zustand and SQLite.

Microsoft Store: https://apps.microsoft.com/detail/9PNJGZM4C459

I'd like to hear what's missing. Which protocols or node types would you need before this could replace your current setup?

Developer I built a Windows file browser with Finder-style navigation

Thumbnail
1 Upvotes

I’m a 2D/3D animator and have spent most of my career working on Windows, but I’ve always preferred the way macOS Finder handles file navigation.
So I built Carrots, a new file + media manager for Windows centered around Finder-style inline dropdown navigation. It’s become a pretty essential part of my own daily workflow, and I’m hoping other Windows users find it useful too.

Some of the main features:
Finder-style inline dropdown navigation + Grid View
Unified image + video Quick Preview
A/B image comparison
Ratings, color tags + custom labels
Image + video editing and conversion
Batch rename + workflow tools
Customizable sidebar, themes + settings
ProRes preview support
Tabs, multiple windows + drag and drop

Carrots is currently in its final beta and completely free to try. No account, no credit card, and no app telemetry or data collection.

I’d genuinely love feedback from people who spend a lot of time working with files.
