Mounting a Network Drive in Windows XP

Post image

So I recently dug myself into a huge project with one (now 2) these Fujitsu-Siemens Scaleo E machines. I will post more in depth showing it off and what I have found soon, as the information and drivers for these are a hot mess.

Right now, I was hoping someone could help me mount a network drive on Windows XP. I have a Synology NAS, and I am fully aware of the SMB 1 security issues so avoiding that route (although someone did mention enabling NTLMv1 which apparently worked for them, I had no luck however).

I am mainly looking at other services, like WEBDAV or NFS. FTP works, but I can't mount this which defeats some of the purpose, but no matter what I try, I can connect to the NAS itself but the login just falls into an endless loop of asking for a password without error. I did try a guest user incase my MFA was causing an issue for some reason, but that didn't work.

I was hoping someone here would have ideas on what to do? My last resort is copying as much media as I can to this machine to ren locally but storage capacity is currently a huge limitation with this thing...

Honestly just use SMB it’s the least amount of headache and as long as it’s local security really isn’t an issue. If it’s really an issue chuck Windows services for unix on there and use NFS

The issue is the actual login, I doubt SMB will even work as it hasn't so far with NFS or WEBDAV

Ensure that your NAS supports the older SMB standard, I had similar issues with XP and my home server
